Intro / Kind of a build thread

A clean engine block is a happy engine block

I regret not getting a before picture. I think the drivers side of the block had a 1/4 inch of dirt/oil/grime build up on it.

Tooling for the heads arrived last week so we are rockin n rolling on those now. Just ordered all gaskets/seals/etc to reassemble the heads and put them on. Pretty much just a timing kit and headers left on my list to purchase. Things are starting to move forward on it finally. I can’t wait to get this car back together

great work man! I’m planning to pull my engine and do a lot of stuff to it and the engine bay. My neighbors and friends think i’m crazy because i will pull and engine and scrub the bay and the engine with degreaser and a tooth brush. Then ill pressure wash any of the hard to remove grime. IMHO, if you take the extra few minutes to detail the engine and bay, it makes for a much better and clean install. It’s always better to be able to tell exactly when and where a new leak comes from. Patiently waiting for more…

I think my biggest peeve is how everything I touch the engine or engine bay I have to constantly wipe off grime. I dont want to be working and bust knuckles when I slip off a wrench

Whew, keep up the good work! You’ve knocked out an impressive amount of work already. Pulling the heads is no small feat but I look forward to seeing the re-assembly process start rather than just the dis-assembly!

You and me both. I’ll have all my gaskets seals etc end of the week from JHM so once the heads are done, I can start putting the heads and stuff back on the engine. Then comes the final major purchase with the timing kit and headers

Your doing it right. Headers will be a nice addition after all the maintance work as a power pay off.

Sent my injectors to Cleveland Injector Hospital to get tested and cleaned. They really weren’t too bad for being original.

Couple had spray issues but once they were cleaned the were all pretty close to each other

Thats the good thing about our injectors vs the FSI injectors. Our injectors might flow a little different from the factory but they dont tend to get worse over time.

First day of spring, I needed something to shake off the winter blues. I ordered headers and a timing kit.

It only a matter of time to get my car done. Every part is either sitting in my shop or ordered.

My goal is to have the car done for Audifest at Midohio in July. Racing starts in May and Ill be steady on that through June so I think it will be close timewise.

Great addiition. The headers will add a lot of power and the timing kit will add a lot of help when it comes to the life of the motor and not having things fall apart.

Only downside is the headers will be another 4-5 weeks to be built, guess I shouldnt have waited

got notification that my headers shipped today

Wow that was fast!

An plans for the blower?

not 100% sure on putting a blower on my car. its an awesome kit, i just don’t want it enough yet to buy it

I think thats a good approch. enjoy the headers first for a while and when you get that taste for more step up to the JHM blower. The headers will add some nice improvements. Do you have the intake manifold as well

I am to a point where I have every JHM part except nitrous, the blower, and clutch. Only reason on the clutch is because I went with a southbend due to a deal.

I picked up my headers from being ceramic coated today, I will post some pictures later of that…

But the biggest update is we finally finished my heads today, which means I will be in the process of bolting everything back in! Enjoy some head porn. I will get some more pictures later when I get the cams put back in

Looks good!

Did you get the JHM valve train components and just have a local shop put it together?
