Valvetrain is all JHM and Gellner Engineering did all the work. They jetwash, glass beaded, installed valve guides, comp valve job along with some of there other tricks
Ohhhhhhahhhhh so Purdy!
Looks mint!
^they did a great job on those! How much something like that costs, if you don’t mind me asking?
It all looks great. The heads and headers look great all cleaned up. Lots of excitment there
I’m not sure what he would normally charge for a job like that. I know I had quite a bit of money alone in parts. I can’t find my notes on pricing but I think you end up being close to the same pricing as JHM head’s, maybe a little bit more
so purdy I would rather put them on display
The work came out really nice. They really took their time with making sure everything was perfect
Even more excitement as I have about 3 weeks until the next race so I am going to spend some time getting things put back together
…i leave for a few months and come back to shiny shiny heads >:( ;D
got breakdown deets on those heads other than those you listed?
Worked a bit more on my engine stuff over the weekend. Unfortunately didn’t get as far as I wanted to with my family visiting
Both heads are completely assembled, just waiting to get bolted & torqued done to the block

I finished my engine stand as well. Now I can really get some good work done next time I have time to work on it.

I really like that stand!
Its actually VERY nice in the aspect of the height of the engine. Luckily I am short ( only 5’5" ) but with the height I made it, the heads when installed will be able mid chest for me. Makes it easy to work around so I dont have to bend over. Also when I go to do the timing, its at the perfect height for me to roll around on my stool cause my legs get lazy.
The ONLY downside I found so far… because of the location of my brackets on the side with the AC compressor, it takes some wiggling and twisting to pull the stand off the engine. Other than that, its freaking solid.
Setting things up for your height helps a lot to reduce injuries and pain. My wooden table keeps the bottom of the engine at my waist and then the top of heads are at high-mid chest.
First revisions are always going to need tweaks. But if that is the only issue then that is great!
Awesome work! I dig that stand as well.
That stand is bad ass, great work man.
Today we balanced my flywheel and clutch assembly. Had to make an arbor piece to hold the flywheel but the assembly did need a little bit of balancing.
Here’s just the flywheel before balancing. All said and done, everything balances out to zero now

edit: It’s a Southbend “stage 3” clutch. They say everything is balanced from them but we found out otherwise
Very cool and also pretty disappointing at the same time. Glad you took the time to check and had the resources to do so prior to installing in the car.
Finally got the engine timed on Sunday. I am starting to actually feel like the project is getting closer to being wrapped up. I still need to finish my valve covers, throw some reflectogold on the bottom on the intake manifold and finish wrapping the headers

Just tossed up the header on the one side to see how it would look

After posting that picture, one of my facebook friends who works for DEI messaged me and says he sending me “the good stuff”. Guess I will be wrapping that header again
Looks Great!!!
Looks so clean! Great progress man. Finish line is not that far off. As far as wrapping goes, take a look at JimmyBones build thread and how he wrapped his… Just food for thought
The entire thing looks great. really nice work.
I’ve seen Jimmys wrap… I dont think I will go as extreme as he did. DEI is dropping off my new titantium wrap this weekend at the race track for me.
I still have a long list of things I really want to do before I get the engine in but I think after a year n half, I am just going to get it put in. Luckily the few things I want to do I wont have to pull the engine back out to do.
For starters, I want to replace all of the AN hose that JHM used for the oil cooler setup. It’s Summit brand shit and I just dont like their hose ends as they are just not great quality. Everything will be switched over to Aeroquip.
Also, with some parts still to purchase to finish it up, I can’t get the JHM auto tensioner like I want. I have spent quite a bit recently and another $180 for the tensioner they quoted me was just outside the budget.
The one that really bothers me is I want to replace the slave while the trans is out but if I want to do that, along with everything else, it will add another 2 months to getting the car done. When I get to that point, I will probably have my buddy’s shop do that work for me
