Not sure exactly but I recall reading about some little plastic bit on the fork that apparently wears out prematurely. I’ll see if I can dig up those posts. I just figured if the tranny will be dropped again might as well refresh those relatively cheap parts as peace of mind.
But at the same time I wonder if its the same part on the s4 and rs4 though, and even if it were, I wonder why then the s4’s with their own pressure plate don’t have the same sticky issue then. I doubt its the cause of the problem, but maybe something related to those parts in conjunction with the pressure plate is causing issues?
It seems like the clutch still grips when the pedal gets stuck, so I wonder if the issue is the pressure plate not releasing or whether its upstream of that (that fork, slave, lines, master, pedal). I think slave lines and master can be rules out since people have replaced them with no luck. I don’t see how it could be the pedal since its rpm dependant.
If it is the pressure plate not coming back up fully though (maybe just enough to give it a bit of grip?) I wonder what could be strong enough that could be preventing it from doing so. Seems like its getting stuck right at the friction point. The sac mechanism maybe? Also noticed the r series pp doesn’t have the sac mechanism anymore…
Anyways just my diarrhea of thoughts there. Should be interesting to see if the r series system solves not only this but all the random oem pp failures (rivets, springs etc).
But the clutch breakin is going to be a pain lol
