Nice work, I vote blue as well.
I vote NO to blue, especially with black F14s. Go black man, you’ll never go back.
Why hide those calipers though. Jimmy are those the 6 pot version?
I would leave the calipers as is. It’s a little gay having the R8 sticker on there, but it’s authentic. Get an S4 sticker to slap over it.
Go with silver, it’ll nicely match up to your cars color and pop against black wheels you have on.
I don’t think I’ve seen it done before, but what are everybody’s thoughts on ceramic coating the bottom of IM against heat? Anybody done it? Maybe apply on top of ceramic coating a reflect-a-gold too…
Wow it has been a while since I updated this thread.
A while ago, I tore the car down to replace the alternator and AC compressor. While in there I thought it would be a good time to recoat my headers because we scratched them a little bit when installing them.
While I had everything torn down I repainted the valve covers gloss black.
Also took off the intake manifold to replace the oil check valves and it is amazing how clean the intake ports stay on these MPI engines.

While the intake manifold was out I overhauled the heat shielding. I got some heatshield products 1/8 inch thick HP sticky shield to replace the reflect-a-gold.
This is the front and bottom of the intake manifold before I finished off the edge with the special tape.

This is the rear and bottom of the intake manifold with the throttle body elbow off.

This time with the throttle body elbow on, everything taped up, and ready to go back on.

More recently I got some carbon fiber engine covers from a friend and the grommets came in today.

I have two more modifications left to do to this car for this year. One of them is to install bigger front brakes. I got R8 front brake calipers, JHM LW RS4 365 mm rotors, and everything else to go with it. Just trying to decide what color to get the calipers done in. I could do standard gloss black, bright silver, or a bright candy blue.

Did you clean up the inside of the TB elbow? Easy job to cut out some protrusions into the flow.
Blue will make a much larger impact to the many envious onlookers. Terrific work. These cars are incredibly hot heat protection always seems to be a good investment

beemercer, No. I didn’t think about it until after I had already put the manifold back on the car and bolted it down.
My S5(afe) Hyden, The heat shielding has made a noticeable difference already. It would be great if I could have gotten a vented hood too but the only vented hood available is from EuroGEARusa and they are made to order with a four to six week lead time.
65vetteC6, They are the eight piston calipers. Audi uses the same caliper on all the RS cars and R8s. The rotors are 15mm bigger than the LW JHM Porsche Cayenne rotors that I have on there now but they also weigh more too. It looks like the brake pads will bite into the rotor better and over more area then the Porsche setup.
Euro and Saki, The calipers are beaten up so that is why I wanted to get them redone. Black will hide them behind the wheels so nobody will notice but it is the stock color. I also found RS decals that would work.
Mr. Wrong, My dad said the same thing. He likes the silver Porsche calipers that are on there now. I was also going to do the rear calipers and brackets too. That will probably happen when I do the last modification that I have in store for this car.

Only reason I was asking was because the Euro version have the 6 pot option iirc.
