**JHM 3 Liter Build**

Does anyone have the tune on a 6 speed yet?
I’m in the middle of planning a trip to go down to San Diego from here in Reno where I live and I would like to stop at JHM on the way and get the tune.

What I would like to know is, how does the tune affect the low end? and off the line?

My first gear feels really weak and 2nd has no pull untill over 3 or 4000 rpms.

Noone has it on a 6speed that I know of. It has been tested though and it performed wonderfully. The 6speeds get more power than TIP, especially on the low end. I know exactly what you are talking about in regards to the delay and weakness, the tune does an amazing job of taking care of that. The most gain is over 3k rpm, but there is substantial gain under that as well, in the areas you are referring to. It’s really difficult to describe, you gotta feel it for yourself.

Off the line? well for me it was like this when I floored it from a standstill:

stock off the line: pedal lag, slow revs, lots of noise and the car felt rather anemic until it hits 3000rpm, and it seems to die off a couple thousand after that. Still fun to do though.

jhm tune: tires slipping, instant power response, car surges forward, almost feels like a turbo kicking in when the torque converter locks at 3200rpm, huge sh*t eating grin, increased heart rate… I could go on.

Your experience, especially off the line will be even better than mine, you can’t go wrong man.

Just shipped offmy ECU yesterday, I keep reading all these positive reviews and updates and I am oh so eager. Great to hear all the positive things coming out of this.

Hey Guys. I had a few quick updates for you:

  1. When motorsports916 picked up his 3 Liter we had a little stand off against a 300 hp 4.2 liter V8 A6. The results were impressive… not earth shattering, but definitely respectable. Video to come.

  2. For all you six speed guys out there: I did just buy a 2003 Manual 3 liter. As soon as it arrives at JHM, we’ll make sure it’s in tuneable condition, perform some baseline tests, and then start putting on the latest hardware and software that we’ve come up with. Pictures and further updates to follow.

great news. That’ll be an interesting race, especially at different speeds. The A6 is a pig, but it can certainly still be quick!

Ooooh, very interesting indeed. Can’t wait until someone posts some 1/4 mile times!

I’ll be hitting up the track once my ECU gets back from JHM. I wont go there bone stock lol

Plus I would like to see how each mod decreases in 1/4 times. I’ll be going with my buddy that has the 5.0 and probably another friend with a srt4.

Sweet! Once I get my car to a level where I think it’s track worthy (ecu/tcu, full exhaust, coilovers) me and my friend with the 302 will probably hit the track as well. I will also be running against a friends 350z and a 2007 acura TL. The last 2 will make for interesting comparisons IMO. It’ll be cool to see how it stacks up against other n/a V6 cars with the tune.

You run against Rod’s car?

Yeah I hear ya, I’ve been wanting to go for a while but after seeing that we run 15.7 stock I was like eh I’ll wait haha. I think it we be cool to see how each mod will effect the times though also. Aslo in November I’ll hittin up Fixxfest which has an open 1/4 for 10 bucks for the entire day. Hopefully by then I’ll be a complete stage 2

beem that’s my guess too, if anyone wants to place bets :stuck_out_tongue:

I totally agree zingo, a high 15sec car isn’t too exciting at the track. I’m hoping we can break into 14’s with the tune and full exhaust. low 14s or even breaking 13 with a full bolton 3.0 (way down the road of course) would be ideal

Exactly, I think we can do 13’s down the road, we gotta get 14s first! Im hoping to have full exhuast tune, tcu tune plus intake spacers by fixxfest. I want to be the fastest 3.0 at the show ;D

Yeah that race was against me and my car.

yah were struggling to get into the 15’s were a high 15sec low 16sec car. The manuals might be able to get into the 15’s stock not too sure about the autobots.

I like the idea of running a A6 300hp is 300hp. Those cars are not exactly 1/4 mile killers but off the roll they do quite well.

Put it this way, my car ran a 15.1 @ 91… 916’s car was hanging with me. Im guessing a mid 15’s with a full 2.5" exhaust, TCU, ECU tune.

The top end on the 3.0 really dominates. Remeber this is just the beta and still in the works, In time it will just get better and better, more improvements, better launches, etc… etc… Just like with the v8 s4’s went from others “talking crap” to “holy shit they are running 11’s!”

Rod Im guessing you guys raced off a roll. Where the 300hp of the A6 is able to come out. Off the line at the 1/4 mile your car is a 2.3 60’ car right.

The fact that its even hanging in there is good news for the 3.0 guys. Its a good place to start.

Yeah we did a roll race and from a dig.

Yes 2.3 60 ft. And it is very impressive that the 3.0 car is hanging with the v8’s, very impressive! Can’t wait to see more once they get more done to them.

;D

Yes sir!

I find myself just putting it in TIP mode then doing random pulls. Let’s say the gas station has seen me a ton due to my lead foot (not cause of the mods  )

I have to agree. I Think keatons 6speed might be able to give you more of a run for your money.

When we thought about the race we knew the A6 (I have one) makes great power once its rolling not only that but your not exactly a Stock A6 so that is something else to take into consideration.

Its nice that we now have the next level in our sites as the 3.0 takes off. Once rod’s car is chipped then the game is completely different. We will have to make sure rod can quickly convert to stock in the future as more testing and attempts to take down the low level V8 cars continues.

Correct. My car is not 100% stock, the few modifications to the exhaust with the piggies and cat back lets the v8 breath a good bit, So when the video is posted remember its keeping up with a slightly modified a6.
