JHM no2 questions

Finally decided to install the kit after 6 months of it sitting in the garage. Question is… is everything hooked up right?

does that bung just stay empty? where does it go?

is that where the no2 filter goes? is that how the relay wiring works with the pressure switch? Do i have to adjust the pressure switch or is it good to go out of the box?

is that how the fuel solenoid gets hooked up?

is that how that solenoid gets hooked up? the bung without anything hooked up is the purge right?
the two lines that come off that T go to the nitrous ports on the plates?

This is very helpful to make a thread. You will need a moderator to help you with the jpeg pictures. They can be put into a

Just looking at the picture, that looks right. That’s the relay for the bottle heater. Make sure you find a good ground for that.

Yes, the filter goes in-between the Nitrous bottle and the solenoids. I usually run the filter close to the bottle.

Hey Jeffrey, great to see another nitrous kit getting installed. CountVohn is the man and basically designed the kit and helped me out a bit with mine, which you can find here: http://audirevolution.net/forum/index.php?topic=1833.0

That’s just a vent

Shouldn’t have to do any adjustments

Looks correct

Yes, Yes, and Yes

Wolfs4 is really just being nice, he is the man

Looks like he gave you all the good information.

I was just about to refer you to Wolf.

Made great progress today. Broke off one of the studs that goes into the plate so I have to track one down tomorrow. Hopefully the tune will go on tomorrow or Tuesday. Anyway this is all just very tedious not really hard now that I understand how it all works.

Once you get the idea on how it all works, its less intimidating. There are lots of little bits that go with it that can take time.

Ya I got it under control now. I just need the fitting to come from JHM and get a fill. I tried today with little success. Ill get it all done monday for sure. Thanks guys!!!

So still working on it… here’s a question. maybe it’s a stupid one. I’m not sure. Anyway i have these two sets of instructions as far as the two wires to connect on the ecu. Screen shot below. They seem to conflict as to which wire is which.

Where did the directions on the left come from?

Follow the instructions on the JHM chart.
Triggerinput CH1 (wht/blu) should tap into TPS
Tach input (green) is the RPM/Tach signal input for the controller

I’m pretty sure this is the controller used in the kit

Not stupid at all and a VERY good question. Fun story, I connected mine up according to the diagram on the right, and took me months to figure out why it wasn’t working. It’s either due to the diagram being incorrect or my car is somehow different. CountVohn was a big help in helping me figure that issue out.

My suggestion to you is to test it. Tap into each of those wires off the ECU with a multimeter.

The TPS is basically a rheostat, and the nitrous controller is looking for something like 3 volts. You can just turn the car to the on position and actuate the throttle and should see the volts vary, and should see around 3 volts when nearly floored.

The RPM Signal seems to be represented in resistance. To read that correctly, you will have to start the car, and you’ll see the resistance varies with RPM.

I ended up wiring a LED in-line with the nitrous solenoid and mounting it next to the switches just so I could get a visual to verify when the solenoid is opening.

Good luck.

Ya i hooked it up according to the instructions on the right and then i went on a little drive and absolutely NOTHING. I got both the sets of instructions off the JHM website in that attachment. I can tell you one thing the white wire with little green stripe is not in the location they say it is in the instructions on the left ("3nd row from the top, 5th wire from the right "). I need to go grab a multi meter that’s for sure. What wires did you end up tapping into wolf? I believe my car is a super super early 04.
Thanks, Jeffrey

The correct ones for me were the opposite of the diagram on the right. So the text document on the left would be correct in my case. Don’t recall the exact locations of the wires.

Excelent, I will go through it all again tomorrow with a multi meter. Make sure that the controller is getting the right signal and then that the right signal is coming out to the solenoids.

Check those and then check back. If you have any questions, I’ll look to see if I can help tomorrow.

So, It’s 105f outside here right now. Don’t really feel like sitting in the sun doing this shit so… I’m unsure when this will happen. My poor car doesn’t have a garage right now.

Time for a little update. I tore everything apart and re did it. Used the multi meter to make sure it was all right. I soldered every single connection. Then, i took an LED and wired it to light when it opens. Solenoids arent opening. I’m going to pull everything out again tomorrow and a friend is going through it all with me again. Anyway, is there any possibility of the nitrous controller being bad?

I thought it might be the controller when I had issues, but it wasn’t. Would never say never though. Would certainly triple check to make sure the tps and rpm are tapped into the correct wires off the ECU, and your grounds are good. I’m sure JHM would be willing to verify your controller is working correctly. Good luck.
