Things I’d sell
- ebwerks exhaust (full exhaust?) for $1000
- Euro RS4 wheel for $800 including airbag
- BBK (???$3000? it’s stoptech front and rear)
- OZ ultraleggera wheels with re11 $1500
$6300 USD = $8000 CAD
If I bought the car for $47,500 CAD, that means I’m paying $39,500 CAD for a JHM stage 1 RS4 that is otherwise stock. It has 80kms and mine has 110 kms. I think I’d have to pay 13% sales tax to register it here too, so really it’s $46,000 CAD.
So what would my car sell for?
I don’t imagine it would sell for much more than $35,000 so best case scenario I’d be paying about $11,000 for a JHM supercharger. Doesn’t make a boatload of sense. I can get one for $8000 from JHM and can have a friend help with install for $1000 so $9,000 USD, which is $11,000 CAD…same price, but I don’t need to switch cars, and get this black RS4 and parts shipped 4000 miles etc.
If I could sell my car in the US it would work as pricing is better there than it is here with our weak currency. What’s a 2008 stock RS4 in Avus with Ti trim worth in the US? $32-33? That’s $43,000 here at best in CAD and that starts looking a lot better, but it isn’t easy to sell your car to Americans from Canada. You’d need a dealer to buy it from you and sell it there…and I don’t know any dealers that are willing to bear that risk.

For the folks stateside it’s a very attractive listing though.
I had to really really give it a second thought, but it just doesn’t make sense at this point for me. It would just end up sitting in a garage for at least a year before I could start driving & enjoy it.

The 30k miles difference is a bug plus. You drive your car so the miles he has is like one or two years newer. And if I remember the owner seemed very reserved so other then the EB wrecks exhaust lol that car has solid mods and was well taken care of.

I agree with most of the above including saki’s breakdown. The brakes are probably worth a bit more that 3k but
the new owner can do and ask what ever he wants for the parts.
I would definitely like the new owner to keep it as it is since Ive put a lot of effort to keep her in top shape over the years. Ive been more than anal about regular and preventive maintenance.
Things that were not mentioned in your analysis are all the extra stuff that would make the car problem free for a lot more miles. All the mounts, the suspension bits, the oil cooler lines… clutch lwfw name it. I think apart from the charger those things will add up to the value.
Also, the EBwerks exhaust was the best 2.75 option at the time. JHM prototype was not available anymore and didn’t really know much about the owners back then. Thought I still thinks Enrique is a stand up guy and made the transaction really easy for me. He’s still doing great stuff for the p cars and I wish him well.

Very true, I was looking at it from a ‘do I switch to a black sc rs4?’ poiint of view only, economically, but to buy your car you’ve done all the good little things. If anyone is looking for an rs4 they should honestly take a hard look. If I could easily sell mine in the US I would buy yours, and then drive it home. Would be an epic journey.
I would pm karsty if I were you. He’s a member here and lives in AB. Not sure if he has seen your car but he should buy it. He sold his imola 2 yrs ago and has been scouring the market for a replacement.
