JHM Stage 1 Supercharger Dyno

That’s perfect passing power!! Thanks again!

For rs4 guys how does your 6th gear compare to that?

Once you get your tune set find the first CTS-V wagon and pay him your regards

I fucking crush that

It would be good to see a video to compare… I test drove an rs4 a while back and didn’t get a chance to try that out…

Since I barely drive my S4 because my v3’s are getting rebuilt I can’t really remember what a WOT 6th gear pull is like…

Axel was that WOT?

^^ x2 ( but not in such a harsh terminology , lol )

sure I can make a video

Why do you care how the car accelerates in sixth gear? Just wondering

Just trying to see power delivery through gears… I tend to coast in 6th and just mash it to pass trucks and crap… if the blown s4 is dialing back power and the rs4 is pushing effortlessly it makes a person wonder if certain projects are worth it

I rarely need to downshift anymore.
In any case, yes, that was WOT. That said, I don’t feel much of a difference between half and full throttle in that gear, at that rpm range.

Good stuff Axel!! Thanks for posting. I hear you on the downshift, no matter what gear you are in, push the pedal and the car goes!!

I usually cruise the highway around 70-80 in 6th, but if I need to pass I will drop down. I feel it moves a little quicker.

But then again, I have the slowest RS4 in the world (driver’s fault) haha

RS4 6th gear WOT for reference. Not stock. Needs washer fluid.

anyone time it?

Seems to be about the same.
He starts at 100kph instead of 110kph so you have to start timing his video when he reaches 110.
The other problem is that the video’s angle isn’t directly perpendicular to the speedo. Makes it tough. He starts at 100 dead on but you can see in the video it looks like 105 due to the slight angle.

Overall though, I think it’s splitting hairs. It’s such a short speed difference. Both seem to be in the 5 second range (110-150kph).

Am I the only one that would much rather see a 2000-7000 RPM pull in fourth gear? This short pull 6th gear shit does nothing for me.

Why 4th? Pulling to the top of 4th is more than doubling the posted speed limit. If you get caught here, you lose your car, your license and you get a $10,000 fine. Not all that fun

6th gear was requested which is why it was posted.

Ok, understandable… Then perhaps 3rd gear? I would just like to see a comparison between the SC’d S4 and the RS4 that covers more of the rev range.

And I know that you were just providing what was asked for Axel. ;D

And serious punishments for extreme speeding in Canada I guess… That’s intense.

It wasn’t always like that. It was bad but at most you lost your license for 30 days by accumulating too many points in one shot by going that fast.

Then the teenagers decided it would be fun to race on public highways at crazy speeds with unsafe cars and no driving skills and ended up killing themselves and so many innocents that the province had to step in and issue a severe 50 over penalty. I don’t blame the province. People were getting quite upset and they had to do something. Has it reduced the kid racing? No idea (hopefully I guess). Was it good PR to show they were cracking down on them? Absolutely.

different gearing, 8250 RPM redline vs. 7000 RPM…both make that a comparison that won’t tell us much really.

Yes, the RS4 redlines 4th gear at around 128 MPH. That would get you on the front page of the newspaper if you got caught.

They take your car for 7 days, and suspend your license for 7 days. They fine you from $2000 up to $10,000. It is treated by insurance like drinking and driving or reckless driving.

It’s tough indeed, but not as draconian as it sounded with the limited details in axel’s post. He was just making a point that an in gear run to the top of 4th tells us very little about a car, and puts you in grave danger on public roads.

Are the gear ratios that different in third gear? And that’s why I proposed the 7000 rpm limit, due to the different rev-ranges.
