JHM Supercharger install B7 S4

Hey Chris…I miss my baby!
Hope those gauges aren’t giving you too much of a hassle.

what’s going on with your car…it’s still at Twins?

Yeah, getting the zada-tech multi gauge installed, new stabilizer links for the RSB, new ambient temp sensor and trying to figure out my occasional bogging issue (which takes time as the CEL doesn’t come back for 4-5 days sometimes).

I have to mention how big 02’s are. During the header install on the B7 S4 The 02’s were old and we decided to just reuse them by extending them. This later turned into a bad thing as the car started to have whacked out fuel trim issues and then eventually had some slight hesitation issues it seemed.

After the 02’s were changed out. The car ran like a new car. Seemed to have more power and clearly there was no fuel issues.

If you ask me its cheap insurance

Wonder if mbgt72 saw your post Chris

^I have all 4 of Andy’s O2 sensors in right now, and they’re from JHM for headers. . . so yea.

so…what? what happpened?

^more weirdness, no resolution

same weirdness, or different weirdness?

What kind of weirdness?

Sorry for the delay.

So to get back to the rest of the check list.

valve cover gaskets

we already saw how this can really reach havoc if not left checked. So its always good to look into that. Or to keep in mind that at the same time you pull the core support you should look to maybe do your gaskets at the same time. Its made a little more easy with the core support off.

02 sensors
We already saw the 02s that needed to be looked into and speedETC just did his build to help support this as with in his break in time he had one go bad.

mounts. Motor/ Transmission/ snub

We also saw above the picture of the deal motor mount. This isn’t anything new. With the new added Tq and power. Its a good idea to get more solid mounts all around. When you pepper the gas the tq will make the motor want to move. Better mounts will help hold the motor where it want’s to be.

Fluids Motor oil/coolant Transmission and diff front/rear

The good thing here is your taking off your core support so your already going to be draining out your coolant. This is a good time to look at what oil your using and then keep in mind your bolting on another 100+whp so Its a good idea to make sure your using oil that is more up to the task.

The good thing is the check list is quite small and isn’t going to break the bank to add these parts to your build.

As for the rest of the car and the system. This is where the JHM kit really shines. There is so much stuff thats included that helps the car it really isn’t just a supercharger kit but a over all motor upgrade.

When you consider you get an updated.

PCV SYSTEM

When you look at the OEM S4 one of the weak points has always been that pesky PCV system. They tend to fail and the result is your motor eating oil. When you look at the fact that your adding a large amount of hp and tq upgrading the PCV system is a great plus. Hell when you think about it upgrading the PCV system on a lightly modded S4 would be a good way to go. When you look at the fact you get an upgraded PCV system with the JHM blower kit its one more plus.

6 Rib Pulley System
This is one more modification that would be great on the lightly modded S4 considering that the tensioner system on the S4 has a tendency to fail and even with a good tensioner you can get belt slip.

When you look at it your getting a L/W crank pulley in the kit. Not only a L/W crank pulley but a 6 rib pulley that is built to handle a blower.

The other companys attempt to make a 'kit" not one of them realized that the OEM crank pulley would fail (as they have) let alone that there to thin to handle the extra load of turning a blower.

Spark plugs and injectors

When you add more power you need to look at your plugs. When you add FI or chemical induction you also need to look at your plugs. So the spark plugs are something you would need to look at anyway. There just one more thing thats added.

Injectors. Have anyone looked at what the other “kits” do for this. They make people cut into there wire harness and wire in new injectors. WHAT? I suppose just like a blower thats too small other companys didn’t want to spend the money to get the proper injectors. The JHM kit has drop in injectors flow matched to assure proper fuel.

Thanks for the update Count!! Regarding the injectors, I noticed how some companies cut the harness. That was a bit puzzling to me. The other thing with other kits that I found strange is that it doesn’t appear that they are changing the plugs. I would have expected with the additional “power” they would have changed the plug to a different heat range.

lol nothing surprises me about the other SC kit sellers anymore

Big vote for JHM on this one. Great to see there adding that. With most of the attempts at the blower kits it seemed they used cheap everything and none of them were very complete. I like that JHM has addressed everything down to the spark plugs. If you ask me thats attention to detail and attention to the customers better needes
