The impression I get is that he was just jumped on by FAW for his build not being legit because he didn’t do it with his hands…even though FAW’s car ran like a stock B5 2 waterfests ago.
Being called ‘slow’ by FAW is tantamount to being called an environmental killer for not sorting your recycling properly…by a guy who drives a Hummer.
to that end…I’d love to add FAW’s 14 second run to the audirevolution quarter mile database. I think he would officially be the slowest time on there…B5/6/7/8 inclusive. There’s some irony there.

are B5s allergic to dragstrips? I know they are supposed monsters from 60-130…but come on guys
It seems like B5s are very comparable to DSMs (1G/2G Talons and Eclipses w/4G63T…Lasers too I guess), they are fast as fuck when they run, but they are broke 95% of the time.

I honestly think this is the quote of the thread. This is literally the perpetually recycling topic that repeats itself every few months (for years), with absolutely zero outcome because of the dodger. With as much as it seems like you B6/7 guys lurk the B5 forums, I’m surprised that you all are so riled about this and think something (worthwhile) is actually going to come from this. I thought you all had already seen this cycle through as often as the B5 regulars had.
I can appreciate what you’re trying to do, but the challenge/offer has already been made and detailed with the wager, objective 3rd party validation, ramifications, etc. It’s already completely objective, protects the interests of either party equally, and it’s set up as close to a street race as we can get (while being 1000’s of miles apart.) I don’t care if he takes 1 pass or 40. I don’t care what his 60’ is. I don’t care if his motor blows up the next day from the stress at the strip. It doesn’t matter who gets to the track first, as long as we both make a run before the agreed upon deadline (the results wouldn’t be shown until afterwards anyways.) It’s run what you brung, fastest E/T wins, no complaints, no excuses. If he wins, he will get my $75, and I will admit his car is faster. Now all we’ve got to do is get FAW to man up, set a deadline that works for both of us, and get our money secured with the objective 3rd party within the next 6 days.
Again, make sure you plant those excuses early, so that you can call on those excuses afterwards when your performance doesn’t show anything conclusive. Make sure you say that you aren’t trying so that you can avoid accountability : My crystal ball predictions are coming to fruition before our eyes.

And I’m also saying this before all of this falls through, my challenge is for FAW, not because I would otherwise be rushing to take my car to the 1/4 mile strip. If/when the challenge falls through, I’m not likely to hit the track til later this season, if at all this season. I simply don’t care enough about the drag strip to rush my timeframe of fixing my car, outside of this single challenge to make it interesting for the forums and to get FAW to show something.
So don’t be surprised/disappointed when this falls through and I don’t make a pass for a while. (well, be disappointed if you want, but don’t be surprised.)

Regarding the money, you know that I won’t do some emergency one-week rush repair to get my car in shape for the track based solely on the distant hope that you, perhaps the most infamously flaky person on the Audi forums, might choose to follow through. You already know that I won’t do this, so you’re trying to use the money, which is pretty much only there to guarantee that you follow through (otherwise you lose money if you don’t), to weasle your way out of manning up. If you want to do it without money, then it’ll be done on my own time frame, at my own leisure, and we can compare slips when I happen to make a pass. If you want to try to force your one-sided timeframe, then put up or shut up. As soon as that money is in the hands of the objective 3rd party, I’ll start trying to make the calls. Otherwise, you can back down from the challenge and I’m sure you will continue to try to claim that my car is slow and your car is fast until I actually go to the track (which sounds like the course you’re trying to pursue, the usual no-accountibility, nothing on the line.)

I tried to go as often as possible, and as often as it made sense… and yes I shared my results for everyone to see because I have nothing to hide or be ashamed of. I built the car so that I can enjoy it for whatever task I wanted to use it for. Street, strip, doing donuts in a parking lot, whatever.
I really wish someone would step up to the plate and finally show what the Tials are capable of. I know they have potential. They just need the right setup to do it. Heck I was looking at my last race from Apr this year and going through the Tial results thread you started on AZ…
I went as fast as the Blue AMD Tial 605 car did (12.1) with less boost, smaller exhaust, maxxed maf and straight pump gas (no meth) compared to their pump + 75% meth combo, A/C delete, 3" DP to 3.5" exhaust,etc, etc. I just was down 2.5 mph approx. that day in the 1/4 and 2 mph in the 1/8th.
I would say that is very good progress all things considered. I know I would have had my car in the 11’s trapping a solid 120-122 on straight pump soon enough this season if things didn’t go as they did.
It always sucks to see anyone get to the point where members are mad enough at members to feel they need to defend what they have done with or to there car. Ive seen pics of Jibberjives build and it looks great and while I haven’t seen any of the FAW build, anyone that builds it with there own hands gets good points from me. I can see how someone would get offended by someone dogging them for doing welds that are not showroom quality. Showroom quality or not there your welds and your proud of them. I don’t clame to know the story behind any of this

Looks like you both are open to show what you have. Seems to me that A reasonable date of 6/3/2012. Both parties have said there cars run and there DDs so. There is two weekends to get to the tracks in there local area and for a DD that seems to be more then reasonable.
I see both guys saying that the other isn’t going to go. OK then whoever gets to the track before 6/3/2012 and runs the fastest time wins the debate. Even if the fastest time is a 14 second pass it more about being a man of your word and taking on the challenge of someone else.
At this point there isn’t a need for argument if you ask me. While I can see jibberjives want for a 75$ wager I would suggest after all the comments that have been made back and forth. maybe let the 75$ go and just go make your point before 6/3/2012 at the strip.
I think either way there has been a long time dispute going on and lots of bad blood. Looks like this can all get settled if one or both goes to the track before 6/3/2012
I don’t know if this is helpful or even wanted by the two parties and I know I probably didn’t add much to help. My story might be helpful.
I had a 1988 notch back mustang. I ran 9.60@146 on spray and this was on 28/10 drag slicks. I almost hit the wall during the ONE and only pass on spray that resulted in the 9 second pass. All other runs I lost traction and almost crashed the car when attempting to keep it under control going down the track At WOT. One run I spun out at the 1000ft mark and thought I was going to shit myself. So I decided that might be enough and I should just leave it be…
There was a local guy (antwan) that got shacked by me in a street race several times when he raced my mustang… He was running his mouth over and over how I was sand bagging and my car was WAY faster then 9.60 and that I would never take my mustang back down the track and I was too scared to got WOT with my car on 28/10s all the way down the track. He said My car was faster then 9.6 and I was full of shit and that If I took my car down the track at WOT I would go faster then 9.6. The guy (Antwan) went on and on and on and on. Every street race event (Street racing is not condoned nore am I saying its a good idea) I went to Antwan would make a stink about my car. He started making a stink and wouldn’t let the issue go. There was lots of tension. Antwan started to say publicly he would pay for all my gas and time if I would just goto the track and make a WOT pass on 28/10s. He said no detuning the car no shit gas WOT all the way down the track. So…
I did. I took video of the car. I zoomed in on the 28/10s on the car. I took video tape of the track where I was at and then I showed me putting C16 race fuel into the fuel cell after that a put a camera in the car that showed my throttle. I had another friend take video from outside the car.
keep in mind I knew that if I took the mustang down the track at WOT again I might or actually probably would crash the car. Still I decided to be a man of my word.
I got up to the staging lanes and got to it. I launched hard and kept it WOT all the way down the track. No issues straight as a arrow. After I made the WOT pass I took out the video camera to show my mustang was on 28/10s and it made a WOT Pass down the track. The only difference was that the mustang was on a trailer and I pulled it behind my Diesel truck. I went WOT the car made a pass and no one could say anything. In the end everyone thought that was so slick that it broke the tension and made the point I was willing to man up if you will.
Sometimes respect is given even when its just showing you respect the fact that your getting called out and your going to maybe defend your man hood if you will.
No one needs to take there cars to the track. Looks like you guys have quite the history. The outline looks quite clear. 6.3.12. Maybe a pass even on a broken car will be what it takes to gain the respect between both parties. Seems like anyone can make an excuse for why they didn’t do something. It might take less time to make a pass then it would if you made more excuses (not saying anyone is actually making excuses) there will always be 1000 reasons why people wont actually go to the track. Yet the one action of going in this case sounds like it says miles about each guys position as they have both called each other. Shit talkers Its easy to make the other guy look bad.
