Thanks, I tried to pick all the mods that will make the biggest improvement in the 1/4 lol… Picked up the wheels for an insane deal, the rotors i got used for a nice deal and the headers and Milltek i got a great deal on also from Doug… Hoping all the pieces go together…

I don’t know if its been tried and I wouldn’t consider it super ligit…maybe make a few runs with open headers…who knows you are really breaking ground here. Maybe the cat backs are killing the headers…when you look at the other audi cars in your situation both the b5 b6 and b7 S4 and rs4 they found going bigger on the exhaust was a big pay off. If the exhaust is a big restriction taking it off would be a big help for the blower…you might have to log stuff like bypass and a few other things to make sure the tune isn’t trying to pull bakc power if your just on headers alone…maybe its worth a shot…

Honestly I was actually considering doing a run on full street trim on 93 with spare and everything in car, then draining tank, adding race gas, removing spare and tools, removing Catback (per your recommendation) and going for the record.

I think that would be extremely helpful. Imho the b8 s4 has become the goto platform for benchmarking how to get it done. With the b5 s4 being such a fail from its once strong spot. Doing what your talking about whould be refreshing. It’s hard to really gage how much faster a car can be in several different trims…I think that would help start a new conversation.

I’ll work on getting it organized so I can accomplish that… Might actual just get a few buddies and rent the track so then I can make some passes with no launch to adapt the car… I’ll keep you all posted on that.

Guys, Sorry for not replying and being MIA… Got acute tonsilitis and the first round of antibiotics didn’t work so I woke up basically unable to breathe yesterday and had to go to the hospital and get pumped full of stronger antibiotics and steroids… Swelling is down slightly but I can barely swallow and when I do it feels like a knife in my throat… If it doesn’t get better over the weekend I get to have the tonsils taken out, which I’m sure is real fun at my age… lol

Anyway, nothing really to report on the car at this time… I probably shouldn’t have made the comment to Pete but in due time I’ll back it up…

Why are we encouraging Pete to run with no exhaust on his car if we lambasted APR for doing the same thing on their dealer’s RS4?

I say fuck that…run it with full exhaust, full interior. There are like 15 times on the list from cars that are no interior etc, and they are primarily from B5 guys many years ago. It’s rice. There are about 200 that are full exhaust, full interior. Clearly the benchmarks have been set full interior. Ironically, the fastest of every platform is full interior, full exhaust with the exception of the one APR run, but in all likelihood that is owed to the drag slicks (also a rare exception rather than a benchmark). When they put the street tires on with race gas etc., APR posted a time that got beat by multiple tenths by JHM.

Chris was just saying, to see if it’s a restriction. I think the point to make is that pretty open non-res exhausts have been tried though, without significant improvement…

The JHM B6 S4 exhaust is well designed. 2.5", xpipe, great bends, great mufflers. Despite this, when justincredible ran his car at the strip, it went faster when he removed it. Both on and off the 75 nitrous shot.

Interestingly, he never wanted me to add his no catback time to the database because it was rice. I thought there was some quiet dignity there.

Fastest for him is this. 12.27 @ 113.8

Would love to see that engineer wrestling match start up again. It was pretty funny to watch them try to math each other to death. Needed ArthurPE to throw down a math ass whooping and really round it out.
