let me introduce myself with a question?

this might some creepy but ive stalked and lurked your forum for quite some time before joining ::slight_smile: it was a great place of information, and i really enjoyed that the main issues were brought to the table, and wasn’t just all dick jazz media bs, like on most other sites.

The passion for cars that we all share, started for me at a young age with ek’s and integra’s and 240sx’s basically anything cheap that i could pull from the scraper for super cheap, wrench on, fix them up and resell them if possible. Finally made the step into what i call my “roots”, Volkswagen’s, always loved the car, but thought they were to expensive for a young kid to own, busted my balls and bought a MKV GTI in my last 2 months of high school, nothing spectacular just the base model GTI, she’s my baby and is a constant project. ever evolving.

The search for the Audi took me close to 2 years, a couple failed attempts with a few cars, and almost being scammed by an online deal i gave up hope, but one day just randomly searching craiglist i found her 3 hr’s after she was posted. I called the owner and said if she checked out, you can consider her sold. needless to say the car was mine within 72 hours.

Of course the plan was to stay stock… haha well yaaaaaaa… First thing i needed to do was was the brakes as i was getting some bad wear marks and pretty bad squeal, i decided to go with the JHM 380mm LW front rotor rings, and the 2-piece LW rear rotors, and stainless lines to complete the whole setup. While I’m extremely impressed with the setup, I do have a few gripes. Granted the size of the rotor in front are larger then stock, but the stock pad doesn’t cover the whole rotor surface, which is understandable, but why not slightly modify the rings to have it setup to wear better. the only somewhat “bonus” is the fact that the rear also matches in terms of the same wear pattern.

I will attach a photo from my phone

While i did say i was impressed, and who wouldn’t be? less $$ them stock, bigger and lighter you cant beat that. Although at the same time, after seeing kryp’s setup I’m alittle jealous lol!

I managed to snag a set of Euro front and rear bumpers, which I’m still waiting to get painted and installed, and at the same time a friend of mines shop accidentally ordered a second set of euro projector headlights for a customer, i decided to snag them because the price was just to good.

Now with the car having just ticked over 75,xxx km’s the car suspension is really due for an over haul, plus i cant handle the reverse rake and the wheel gap that comes on these cars from factory!!

this is were my question lies with all of you, what are your thoughts on this suspension/wheel setup:

034/PSI ohlin coilovers B7 rs4
034 Density control arms w/ lower density arms
034 Rear upper control arms
034 Density strut mounts
034 Motorsport v8 m10 motor mounts
034 Density transmission mount
034 Density snub mount

19x10 et20 BBS e88’s all satin silver/chrome bolts.

My main question i guess would be, does any one have any experience with the 034 Motorsport motor mounts? I do plan on supercharging the car, and want it to be as solid as possible, i don’t mind it being alittle stiffer/rougher, I prefer that to be honest. but at the same time i do have passengers in the car and we do make the occasional long drive so I don’t want to make it completely uncomfortable.

I also know that those offsets are alittle aggressive, i know people run a 10mm spacer and have little to no rubbing at all, these would only sit about 10mm farther out then those, and i figure with about 1deg of camber i should hopefully be able to bring them in to be nice and flush. I’m also hoping that i can pull them off with a 265/30 tire. mostly cause i already have the tires, but we will see lol

after this bit of work gets done, and once the clutch decides to pack it up ill be redoing everything on the motor and trans side of things and do a complete refresh. Hopefully JHM will have their super charger kit out

Anyways thats a bit about me, I’m fairly young and have a pretty decent head on my shoulders, I also don’t like the Bullshit and will tell it how it is. I tend to not stick to the beaten path, I try new and different things, if they don’t work i move onto the next one, if they do work, I will either recommend it to people or i won’t.

I hope we can get along, if not I’m sorry in advance lol

Welcome and congrats on the purchase.

RE: Suspension…
I’d be surprised if your rear arms need replacing, they tend to last way longer than the ones up front.
I’d stick with street density bushings everywhere, just from a NVH standpoint. Especially if it’s your DD.
We don’t have a snub mount on the RS4’s, the S4’s do - are you referring to the TQ Mount?
I have the 034 upper strut mounts and their trans mount, both are good quality.
One mount you missed that may b e n e f i t you in the rear diff mount. The popular choice is the one from Apikol. Another good quality addition.

More pics when you have time.

Welcome nice whip. .both of them. .the gti is just past redicoluously low. Air ride or always on rails…

You deffinitly came to the rifht place NY07rs4 is … as always…right. . Keep with the 034 streets… track 8s way too hard… also do the rear diff it helps tie everything together.

Ya basically doing them for the added adjustability, and if I’m going going on be there doing the coilovers I may as well do them now, save myself in the future.

It is my daily as of right now, but I rotate through the cars, so like I said definitely don’t mind it being stiffer, as i do plan on supercharging it and launching for track days I want that added support/piece of mind the mounts are going to last. I think I’m going to go with the Motorsport Motor mounts and do the rest of the vehicle in street density, and i had read about that Apikol mount and will definitely add it to the list!

As for snub mounts? Maybe it’s a misprint on 034 site?

Also just noticed I can’t edit the above post going to say it’s because I’m a newer member? That or Tapatalk is being annoying.

Here’s the photos of the brakes front and rear.

I feel like the rear hat could have been alittle bigger eliminating the space at the bottom, and with the fronts they could have changed the way the rotors are spec’ed?

That looks like the correct part for a RS4. It is called a torque mount by Audi but 034 Motorsport probably called it a snub mount since most people are more familiar with that name.

I think you have to have like 150 posts before you can edit a post because some people have come on here to bash the forum and then tried to edit their posts away. That way the stupidity is there for everyone to see.

By the way, that is a beautiful RS4 and I like your plan of upgrades.

EDIT: Someone needs to tell Koolade9 about the mount from 034 Motorsport so he can get rid of the hockey pucks.

Lol I was going to use the hockey puck mount. I liked it, being Canadian and all

Holy crap I cannot wait for coils and wheels!

Stock wheels are unbeatable. Can not be beat.

Killer photo

This is true, although i am excited for something with alittle less weight.

they weigh 26.5 lbs.

what are you getting that weighs less, and is 19x9 ET29?

edit: You mentioned BBS E88. Not sure they really match this type of car because I haven’t seen them on to be honest, but ok. They’re around 19lbs in 18x9 in BMW offsets (about 15mm difference) I believe. You want 19x10 et20…so that will be lots more hub bulk on the inside, an extra inch of diameter and 10" of width. They’re going to be about what…21 lbs? Maybe 22?

Not sure I’d spend $4,000 to have lighter wheels. I think I’d overcome the rotating mass with half of a JHM ($8,000) supercharger kit that will get you half way to 120+ whp over stock!

here’s some wheel data on 19x10 BBS wheels. Not the e88 though unfortunately.

Wheel - composition - size - lbs

BBS CH Cast 19x10 28.2
BBS LM Forged/Spun19x10 25.1
BBS RG-R Forged 19x10 21.8
BBS RS-GT Forged 19x10 22.9

Wheels should be sub 20lbs, or atleast this what I’ve come to understand, and even if they are say 22ish that’s still 4.5lbs a corner, with a total of 18lbs, hell knocking off the weight from going from stock rotors to the JHM LW rotors I noticed a difference, this should only help.

This is true bu with with just going with the JHM chargwr

This is true with the JHM charger, but it’s yet to be released and would really like to see it make its full appearance before I make my final decision. And to be honest I’m a bit of a wheel whore, I tend to not keep the stock wheels on for to long if possible.

Also here’s a set on a B5, these are obviously running adapters, so there a high offset Porsche set. I just love the way they look!

Accidentally hit the submit button for my above post, I don’t know if anyone could delete that?

Well added another little toy to the car, decided to get the JHM tune, now I’m running stock downpipe and catback, and when I talked with Jhm this was totally fine, just wouldn’t utilize the full amount out of the tune, i thought might as well get it now and I’ll be even more impressed once the exhaust arrives, and have both factors working together.

This is were the problem lies… The car pings so bad from 22-2800 rpm and alittle more around 48-5200, so bad that initially when I was driving i thought I had spun a rod bearing. When I talked with Jhm, I was told that it’s the tune finding the proper parameters and would dissappear in a week. While this is fine and I understand a tune can be self learning but when I put my foot into it sounds like it’s sucking up a bag of marbles… Kinda makes me not want to drive the car cause it sounds soo bad, I’m running the 91oct tune with 94 in the tank. Monday when I get back to the shop I may flash back to stock to see if the ping still exists. Will update more once the video finishes uploading.

Which 94 are you running? You are in BC, so I assume Chevron. Possibly a bad tank of gas?

Car is religiously run with either 94 Oct from Chevron or 91oct from Shell. Both stations I visit have been built within the last year, so storage tanks are brand new… And yea I’m that anal I try to fill up at new gas stations.

That’s odd. The 94 from petrol Canada is usually great. Do you have access to that out there?

The 91 tune parameters are pretty tame.

P. S. Why didn’t you get the 93?

Hello and welcome. Nice car!

Didn’t realise they had Chevron out West. It’s like a whole other country!

On a side note: Do you have VAGCOM/similar to pull some codes and get some logs? If not, try your local VW or Audi group

To be honest I heard horror stories of the pinging tune and thought I’ll take it safe and do the 91, also i frequent the states alot for car shows and in Washington state, they don’t carry 93 at all stations, so figured 91 was a better choice, also I’m going to change my fuel filter out Monday and see if that makes a difference.

I work for a local tuning shop, so i have access to vagcom, was going to log this afternoon especially after my trip to work this morning, pulled up to a light went to give it gas and she just bogged out, look down check engine light is flashing, pull over, she’s missing like crazy, turn the car off sit for a bit then turned her back on and ran with no issues other then the pinging.
