Lets talk about mufflers.

Not officially. I was waiting for the final results before I made my final decision.

I was hoping to order them from him. Initially he was suppose to build a Ti exhaust system for a good price but then decided to do SS. I really originally wanted the Ti exhaust since that was truly going to be unique and if I could get it for a good price why not.

Then he went to just doing it SS and I still was interested but waiting to see the end product.

well which ever line you do get im sure getting TI tips cant be that big of a hassle, for a small extra i reckon.

Yes Ben was going to do a lot of things…

Titanium

^^ oh… my bad

^^I don’t care for that website’s forum presentation. Hard to follow.

Anyways, no Sebring is interesting. Its probably a good thing for him to differentiate his product from JHM. Any good businessman would’ve given him that advise from the start.

i.e. ‘don’t copy JHM you fool’?

Well, we’ll see what he does now. Magnaflow? Flowmaster?

Wonder how long Mick’s car will be down while waiting…he already sold his JHM exhaust to a guy in the UK. It shipped out a while back I think Mick said. Sucks for him…he has now purchased an exhaust with no idea how it will sound/flow/perform, and has sold a well designed exhaust in order to do so…going in blind in a way. He should buy the Tubi axleback from NY07RS4 and then morph that into his ebwerks shell. Will cost a pretty penny, but will sound cool at least.

I hope for his sake he has a stake in Ben’s exhaust company…will make this a little easier to swallow. Otherwise customer #1 is the first dissatisfied customer of Ben’s ‘ebwerks exhaust’ a.k.a. CCE Co.

There will be no downtime, i will just run a stock setup for the time being. And with me on the road alot for work, car will probably just be sitting most fo the time anyways. Also I have not purchased an exhaust without any idea on its sound and performance. i know how it will perform, at a minimum, and can only be impressed as it does better than expected. Sound is not important to me, not as much as performance and noise level are. It will be what I expect or better. I have ZERO stake in Bens company. And I understand as an engineer that there is a development process and I am requesting changes and I aam willing to accept additional timelines to delivery. I am not going to be Dissatisfied customer #1. As long as i can use my car for now on a stock setup, I can wait for the final product that I want to be ready from Ben and team.

how do you know how it will perform if you don’t …

never mind. I can’t even begin to pretend.

Mick, you’re supporting Ben, and that’s great. Please don’t think any of us are fooled though.

Don’t come on here to spin Sebring REJECTING ben’s business as ‘I am requesting changes’. You were thrilled that the exhaust was going to use Sebring mufflers. Ben was thrilled to use Sebring. Everyone on this site knows about Sebrings and their great sound and great perforated core straight through design. The quattroworld guys probably don’t even know what Sebring is, so they won’t give a fuck that the mufflers changed. Nor will they know why that renders Ben’s other dynos useless. Nor will they know that the mufflers are a huge part of the sound and performance in an exhaust system. That’s why they post on quattroworld and spend half the day talking about the gap one guy has on his hood after having his bumper replaced, rather than anything remotely related to performance.

For someone with no stake in Ben’s company, other than sticking it to JHM and JHM supporters, you are going out of your way to help promote this exhaust. You must really really like Ben.

Who said anything about Sebring rejecting Ben’s business? Do you ave some inside knowledge that has not been shared? Seems to me someone has gone out of their way to try to hinder Ben and his endeavors, and this is why i am supporting him, because there are unethical people out there. Someone said Ben was copying JHM by using Sebring mufflers and tips? Wait aren’t those catalog items on their website? So I can order a set, you can order a set. What IP does JHM own on those off the shelf parts? Did they design said mufflers and tips? No. So anyone claiming that these items are copies is a bunch of BS. Second, Ben never wanted to use this solution, because we all felt it was best to differentiate, not imitate. And that is exactly the path he is going. The mufflers and tips are not why i am waiting for my system. The reasons are the welding/assembly of the components for this system, and ceramic coatings. Please stop trying to spin second hand knowledge you think you have about other peoples cars. You constantly do it, and most of the time you end up wrong. Especially with regards to my car.

wait…you’re saying I was right?

nice

p.s. when you say shit like this…
Second, Ben never wanted to use this solution, because we all felt it was best to differentiate, not imitate.
…it makes it REALLY hard for people on sites like tihs one to believe you’re NOT involved with Ben’s exhaust company. I frankly don’t give a flying fuck. Would be nice if everyone would just come right out and be above board about what they’re trying to accomplish and their involvement. Makes it look like we’ve got another ngng pretending to be a customer, while pumping the products on various forums…meanwhile he’s on the payroll.

You really should be more careful.

What do I need to be careful about? I have said straight up I have zero financial or management or design interest in Ben’s company. i only give him feedback for the betterment of the system for the betterment of the RS4 platform. if you don’t give a flying fuck, then why do you keep bringing it up? Seems like you do give a flying fuck. It is also very apparent that since JHM is outsourcing its system to Fast Intentions now. Also appears Fast intentions is worried about competition in the market place.

You still didn’t answer the questions: If a part is a catalog part, and is on the website for the world to order, how is that copying? Don’t electronics OEM suppliers do this all the time? Use off the shelf components form everywhere to build their “mousetrap”? So how does Fast intentions claim, and JHM claim this is a copy because the prototype used the same tips and mufflers? FI and JHM didn’t design them. Sour grapes if you ask me. Also trying to hinder market competition. There are serious laws about anti-competitive practices.

shut your whore mouth. you know ben copied that exhaust

You used 2.75 tubing, the same mufflers, as close to the same x-pipe as you could find…that’s copying.

I’s going to make a phone with a metal band on the perimeter, glass backing, 3.5" screen, and how about a nice home button in the middle. You think Apple would be cool with that. Fuck no they wouldn’t. It’s a copy! Even though mine is “slightly different” I’d better be ready to be sued.

Come on mick, you’re an engineer, you aren’t THAT retarded. Oh know it’s a copy and the goal from day 1 was to steal business from JHM. While we’re talking about how stupid you aren’t, being an engineer an all, you know in your gut that you made a mistake jumping on the EBwerks bandwagon.

jumping on…or driving?

Co-piloting

I don’t think Mick has any financial stake in Ben’s company. But he does want to see him succeed. He has an emotional investment in Ben’s company. That shows in his posts. I see no problem with that.

2.75" tubing and a Xpipe is common knowledge at this point and every exhaust for the RS4 should have those attributes. But, Ben’s choice of Sebring mufflers was VERY curious. It may not have necessarily been stealing but it was what could be considered shady at the least. Competition is great but making your product that similar to the competition is not a good way of doing business it is the easy way. Show me a company that takes the easy way and is successful long term or progresses the industry they are in. Doesn’t happen. So his decision to change the mufflers to a different brand is a good one. He will need to make many more decisions like this if he is serious about starting a business. I hope, for his sake, the easy choice isn’t his first choice from here on out.

Everybody steals from everybody!

Its what reverse engineering is all about! Anyone who thinks companies dont steal ideas from each other is a fool.

Now that being said these companies sue eachother, and usually settle in the form of royalties OR trades.

Samsung lets apple use certain pattenets and in exchange apple lets samsung use some of theirs.

Companies who have nothing to trade (i.e. microsoft) pay roayalties on each phone that uses certain pattents to the other companies.

Originally Ben’s claims for doing this were

1. “I wanted an exhaust that was 2.75 but I didn’t like the sound of JHM"s exhaust.”
He later admitted that his exhaust was using the same mufflers as the JHM exhaust…the key sound component of the system. He then addmitted that he liked the sound of Dan@JHM’s exhaust…so I guess that reason didn’t really exist. Good front though.

2. “I wanted to make a titanium exhaust for weight savings”
He later admitted that he won’t be making the Titanium exhaust anymore. Another good front though. Lots of people beleived this one.

So the two main reasons for not buying a JHM exhaust are out the window…the smokescreen has cleared, and now we see what was going on all along…a JHM replica for the quattrofail guys who hate JHM, but recognize that they’re the best game in town. How do you buy a JHM exhaust without buying a JHM exhaust? You replicate it…and bring in your buddies on the business. Only problem? There’s like a dozen guys on quattroworld who might buy that exhaust. That does not a business make, especially when…in order to build your copycat exhaust…you need component suppliers to turn their back on their biggest customers to support your copying their product. Good luck with that!
