You know our crickets are a little different looking than the one in that photo Saki. We do have a brown looking one, less cockroach-looking. Maybe them Canadian crickets are like the one in your pic but not ours, lol.
post a pic? Here are the crickets I recognize. Not that grasshopper up there!
not much action over here lately
no supercharger talk
no exhaust talk – i might have to go with magnaflow soon til jhm gets theirs going.
saw a little epl talk
but over all quiet
damn i still can not find that time slip.
you can get a magnaflow-muffled exhaust from Ben soon Smegma.
I thought you were one of the EWBerks launch customers? If you were going to wait for JHM’s exhaust, why didn’t you just buy Mick’s? Anyway can you ask over on QW what’s going on with EWBerks’ exhaust?
I have not heard anything about that exhaust or the amd supercharger. I am guessing progress has stalled on both since they were pretty much thinking three weeks til production.
I did probably miss out on a deal with Mick’s exhaust for sure but thought something better was coming.
Might even be happy with an h-pipe at this point with my cheap ghetto cat less exhaust I got off of eBay.
piggies + stock catback + JHM 93+ tune was my plan. Then Vortech down the road.
We’ll see.
i got the ghetto cat less downpipes and a spare set of oem downpipes in my basement.
not sure which ones to try first.
the flex connectors on the oem ones need to be replaced and i bought two 2.5" ones off of ebay.
also, i have the PnP intake with jhm spacers sitting in the basement as well.
not really sure where to start. but i am seriously thinking the h-pipe or the magnaflow exhaust til something better comes around.
i am open to the vortech supercharger as well which i know is getting closer.
H pipe is a waste I think…just makes the car sound raspy
Quattroworld swears by it…but they also swear by epl and capristo 2.25…
Magnaflow is alright…but I think Milltek resonated sounds better and a used Milltek is about the same price as a new Magnaflow. Your recent Magnaflow thread on quattroworld shows again most of the guys are about snobbery…not performance. Quite the’club’.
Catless stockers are good…no idea on the fitment of the Ebay ones. Jnaut just ran 12.26 with Catless 2.5, stock catback, clutch and some weight reduction (jhm flywheel, jhm rotors, lw seats) no tune…and 100 octane.
I am slowly taking my car a part this weekend.
I am hoping to take the front bumper off either today or tomorrow.
Then make some more room in the garage and pull the car in and take the manifold off, to do the carbon clean (not sure how bad it is with 19K miles), install jhm spacers and put on the PnP intake manifold.
I think after that I am leaning toward the magnaflow ($760) and my ghetto catless downpipes ($128). If there were a resonated milltek catback readily available i might go for it, if it were in good condition.
Can you take a B7 S4 milltek and put it on a RS4? I know ppl have put the RS4 magnaflow on the S4.
I am just going to take my time working on the car over the next few weeks since my wife is gone for two months and I can use her car to get around.
I like my h-pipes but I guess exhaust notes and tones are somewhat of a personal thing.
I’ll probably just stick to them until a decent supercharger comes out then get a tune and an exhaust setup to go along.
Any new news on the Vortech? The last I heard was that it was installed on JHMs inhouse RS4 or something?
i know someone is having jhm take off their apr and installing the jhm supercharger on their car.
the reason i know is I saw an email go out for the sale of the apr sc. just trying to see who would be interested in buying it prior the swap.
i dont mind going the cheap route on my exhaust first but then it may be a waste if i plan on eventually getting my car supercharged.
but my pnp intake is pretty much a waste too. but at least i can recoup the money spent on it when i upgrade to a supercharger.
what exhaust do you have? Thought you were stock?
The ECS h-pipe does very little for performance really. Surely a crossover helps a bit with exhaust scavenging but it’s an H not an X…and it doesn’t address the rest of the 2.35" sections in the catback. It’s a waste in that it’s a few hundred dollars + chopping up your stock catback + install and at the end of the day all you really did was delete the resonated section. So for $500-700 you get some rasp. I’d much rather spend $1500 and get a proper catback. Lots of people who got the hpipe did so because there were very few other options to beef up the volume a bit on the car. You had Milltek for $2000…and that was about it.
The JHM supercharger has been on Dan’s car for a few weeks now. One of the first customers will be the customer swesna is alluding to. He was the ‘demo’ car for APR that JHM arranged to get the APR kit at a discount when APR’s other demo customer bailed (retsujou). APR ws to have the car for a few weeks at shows. After the customer got the car back he was concerned that there didn’t appear to be much of a change.
So he and count vohn took it to the strip to see what it was doing. High 12s at 107-108 mph is what they ran (vs. 13.0-13.1 @ 106 stock). Customer was not happy. So count vohn contacted APR to say ‘what the fuck!’ as his contact/customer who he delivered to APR on a platter had been screwed…discount price or not. Keith asked CV to have a look at the file to see if there was anymore in it. So CV wrote a file for him and the customer ran 12.1-12.2 @ 116. After the customer got the JHM exhaust he ran 11.8 at 118-119 mph. APR basically didn’t believe that their file could be that shit so they asked to see the CV file.
Without buying it/paying for it or anything, they loaded it on a car in alabama…pulled the backseats and ran an 11.8 @ 116 of their own, then made the big announcement of the new record. Incredibly all count vohn/JHM asked for was that he/they be recognized for their contribution. So Keith put that in the now famous press release (‘thanks to a new calibration created with the help of a calibrator from the OEM side at Ford SVT who works with JH Motorsports in California’). Cool right? Not really. The other APR guys like Stephen the owner freaked the fuck out because it was basically an announcement that APR can’t tune lol. So the official party line at APR was changed to ‘we created the file with no outside help’. Idiotic because about 20 of us knew this, including a few guys who werre there when CV loaded the file on the RS4 at Milan dragway in Detroit lol. Further, their press release with the admission they used CV was already out there. No turning back, but they tried to.
I got the H-pipes about 2-3 weeks ago.
Yeah agreed, no performance changes at all. The cats are probably the most restrictive part of the exhaust so definately not loosing performance at least. They were cheap enough that I won’t feel bad when I swap them out when I choose to SC. (Assuming I can sell them off after)
It came out to $450 shipped and $50 to install at a muffler shop.
I do personally like the sound that they make though. I don’t think they’re too raspy and I like the slight burble when letting off the gas now.
In hindsight, if all I wanted was a bit more burble until some serious mods it probably would have been much smarter to just get an exhaust shop to delete the resonator and maybe put in the crossover. Would have been maybe half the cost… if even that much.
Live and learn I guess.
if you’re recouping your money it means you’re buying an APR/AMD/PES supercharger since JHM doesn’t change the intake manifold on their kit.
you are right if i end up buying the jhm sc then I would not lose the investment in the pnp intake.
sounds good to me ;D
You wouldn’t lose it no matter what since they hold value well when you arrange a core exchange
So what’s the latest on Ben and his muffler choice?
i have no idea…last i heard he was going with sebring
but i should have had an exhaust by now…but i have no exhaust :’(
i am going to focus on the CC/jhm intake spacers/and the pnp intake for now. take my time and get it done over the next two weeks.
give me more time to think about the direction i will go with the exhaust.
Had you ordered one from Ben?
