lets talk weight reductions.

me either?

Yeah, makes no sense…I have a bunch of it in my doors/boot and I don’t think it’s helping my performance any :). It’s certainly not light.

confused… :-[

I debated getting some to stop the trunk rattle when the subs are pounding but then I thought nah fuck it.

Where are you talking about using it at in the rs4.

Jimmy hit it spot on if you want to spend $6k+ for wheels; I was seriously considering these but ended up with Renn Motorsport

20lbs per corner! $1500

I previously had the Forgestar F14s which are 24lbs per corner

I have the JHM LW front rotors with Hawk ceramic pads and I love the combo. My car went to the shop for 75k service today and they said I need new rear rotors / pads. Is there not an error light for the rear like there is for the front pads when they are low?

Anyways, it was $975 for new OEM rotors and pads apparently (not sure where they got this price from) so instead I just ordered the JHM LW rear rotors with the Hawk ceramic pads to match the front.

Side note, getting a fresh carbon clean and installing the JHM IM spacers I’ve had laying around for over a year. Can I have the shop remove the vanes in the intake manifold after these get installed? I could’ve sworn I heard somebody say that. Just one less place for carbon to build up…

OEM RS4 rotors are expensive. JHM lists them at $475 each and their LW rotor pair is only $595 or $297.50 each. Big difference.

The rear brake pads do not have wear sensors. Only the Q7s and cars with the electronic parking brake have wear sensors or ways to figure out that the rear pads are worn.

Oh okay, I just remember reading somewhere a long time ago about someone who had ripped out all the factory insulation and whatnot and replaced it with dynamat. I thought he mentioned that it shaved a few pounds. I don’t have any first-hand experience with the stuff.

Leave the flaps in the intake manifold. Removing them doesn’t get you any more hp and having them helps in cold days with start up. You can pull the separators out of the heads tho.

Thanks guys, good to know. Had no idea there were no rear wear sensors so naturally I was a little surprised when my shop told me, but then again in my 4 years and ~50k miles of ownership I’ve already done the fronts once so I figured it was just about that time.

Can’t wait to get the car back with the fresh carbon clean though! Now I need some new wheels. Seriously - fuck Rotiform. So done with them.

don’t expect a massive difference from the carbon clean. itll feel crisp and smooth but not the night and day, omg I have a 100 more hp that u hear other ppl raving about.

Oh I’ve had it done once haha I know. I actually had it done last time about 35k miles ago under warranty because it was bad enough to cause a CEL. Car just felt fresh again, not necessarily faster.

Justin he means the little separators in each head port I think.

And the carbon clean is generally only an OH WOW moment if you had been driving around with a vac leak and didn’t know it and it gets fixed during the CC. Popular with the quattrofail crew.

Otherwise it’s 10-20 hp of top top end hp. Aka a very small bump that most people won’t feel.

Ah yes sorry I should’ve clarified… the “port separators.”

There’s some talk in this audizoo thread

Thanks that’s exactly what I was trying to say. Carbon cleaning is a great thing to do. Not just to clean the carbon but like sakimano said you get a chance to inspect all the random lines and fittings.
