Likewater B8 S4 Stock vs Stasis B8 S4

Sorry for the duplicate post - just wanted to try to make it a bit more visible.

As promised, here’s a quick (crappy cell phone) clip of a run against my buddies B8 S4. He’s got Stasis tune, AWE cat-back/ DP’s and APR intake. He’s 6MT and I’m DSG and completely stock - except for tint - I think that adds 15 whp :stuck_out_tongue:

First run was in 2nd gear for both cars. Pretty even/fair start I would say and you can see he pulls.

Second run, barely rolling so not a dig but close and you can hear my friend say “just go when you’re ready” clearly an advantage for me as he has to make up the reaction time. With that I get a fair jump on him and he reels me in. I had to let off for traffic but it wouldn’t have mattered.

No surprises here to me. Just wanted to see what my $$$ is going to buy me when I have similar or better mods. Love to hear additional comments.

Nice! Tune and pulley it and try again… The results will be the other way around and worse from a dig unless he can drive well…

So what I have decided, is to go with the Stasis Tune and run that with the other mods I’m thinking of - Roc Euro Intake, AWE Exhaust. This way I get some more ponies along with the Stasis warranty (car is CPO) while I wait for the JHM release. That’s the plan for now anyway.

You will want to get warranty coverage language in writing from Stasis about CPO cars.

This is a very tricky relationship, best to understand the prenup before getting married.

the relationship is actually not tricky at all

  1. Audi America (or Canada) who you have a warranty with on your CPO endorses nothing stasis and has nothing to do with them. Some of the dealers are also Stasis tuning dealers…that’s it. Nothing to do with Audi Corporate…and they’re the ones you have a warranty with. Dealer covers fuck all.

  2. Stasis tune if noticed by Audi voids Audi new car warranty and nothing anywhere says Audi will help you if something goes wrong. It’s at Audis discretion.

  3. Stasis tune comes with Stasis warranty, and if a problem happens, Stasis will pay if it can be proven Stasis caused the problem. Stasis doesn’t become a warranty in the absence of an Audi warranty. i.e. a normally covered problem doesn’t get covered by Stasis now just because your Audi new car warranty is not valid. If you have a Stasis tune, and get a TD1, and your transmission goes, do you think Stasis will say ‘yeah, was probably our fault…here’s $8000’

I reckon you’ll have to fight them for money.

http://www.stasisengineering.com/support/warranty-and-compliance

EXCLUSIONS: STaSIS warrants only new cars that have not been previously sold to a customer or used vehicles currently covered by the Factory Warranty that have been sold and maintained by a participating dealership and have been reviewed and pre-approved in writing by STaSIS Engineering. STaSIS only warrants parts sold in, and installed on, automobiles built to United States and Canada specifications. Coverage extends to the original purchaser and shall only be transferable to the extent that the Factory Warranty is transferable. “Defects in material and workmanship” shall not include the effects of normal wear and tear of a part installed on a performance- enhanced automobile.

It is not cut and dry with certified pre-owned cars. You need to get it in writing that your CPO car will be covered.

Thus back to my original piece of advice, which still stands correct.

So you were saying that Stasis only ‘warrants’ a car that is first owner and still in the time period for the Audi New Car Warranty? Wow…didn’t know that.

Really murky stuff. I don’t think the vast majority really understands how murky it can get.

Yeah, personally I see little value in Stasis, but that is just my opinion… APR tune is safe and offers more performance and more upside(pulley)… I would never buy Stasis tune or products based on things I have read and seen on the forums… Again, just my .02

Love it and this is why I’m here. Looking for the type of valid input you guys provide. As stated, my decision to go Stasis was my decision at the time I wrote this post. So IF, after wading through the Stasis pool of legal muckety muck I find that there is no advantage to using them, I will indeed go with APR since the consensus here seems to be that they are good, safe etc.

My dealer is pretty mod friendly so I’ll have a talk with the dudes I know over there and may also consider contacting Stasis myself to ask about CPO provisions.

It’s all rebranded. They’re like a drop shipper for other companies.

APR develops parts. Giac/awe develop parts. That’s where the smart money is if you’re modifying your car.

Likewater, Your best bet is getting a good raport with the dealership both the service team and sales…

Saki, Understood… Just heard too many stories about piss poor quality of rims, brake rotors, suspension parts, etc. I prefer to disintermediate the middle man when possible… especially when they don’t add value from a support/service standpoint…

Yeah I’m not defending or making excuses for them by any means. I think it’s a broken company. I like the story about them sanding the name off parts and putting their name on lol. Or the r8 supercharged cars ($20,000 kit) that run like stock.

And it doesn’t help that Stasis has merged with the company whose tune has grenaded a few B8 engines.

stop sugar coating the truth… this is the b8 section so we only mention grenaded b8’s dont forget all the other platforms where they have blown motors…

ill just leave these here…

Haha ya didn’t you have an issue with REVO for your RS4? Blown motor?

Speaking of the B8 section, we’ve taken over 2nd for top AR boards. Now just need another 7500 posts or so to knock the B6/7 section out of first. ;D

yea, you can see the full extent of the damage in the second pic… just look for the large black void on the engine block…

Going way off topic here but this site’s roots were with the 3.0 B6 iirc.

Damn… :o
