lulz on other forums (current, not classics)

I’ve reduced my road course days simply because it’s so damn expensive especially in a B5. I get motion sickness and headaches when I ride in the passenger seat but not when I’m driving. I’m guessing this is because I can anticipate what I’m doing and to what extent I’m doing it.

yeah, it’s definitely not as bad for most people when driving…but my mooshy brain doesn’t care.

Sucks that you can’t ride roller coasters anymore. I was at Cedar Point last summer (Ron’s neck of the woods, I think) and rode the Dragster. Holy shit! 0-120mph in < FOUR seconds. To a straight down drop of 420 feet. It was the first time I ever got nervous before a ride/coaster since I was a kid.

I’ve never been a good passenger, road or track, I get sick. I tried once being a passenger for two laps, I nearly puked.

For that matter, only once I had an instuctor in the car, two laps later I pulled in the pits and threw him out.

As for the cost…and ability and willingness to drive hard…once, many years ago, there were two guys that came to TMP in these JDM nissan rally cars they bought for less than $5K. 200 hp, AWD, and squirrley as fuck. They lapped together, banged doors, knocked themselves off track, they were having a fricking hoot. I tried it with the one guys car, RHD and all. what a blast. Hopefully I can find the video I took.

Edit…this is what they drove. Watching them bump each other was hilarious.

GTI-R
Nissan Pulsar GTI-R (Japan)

The N14 series also saw the introduction of the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R three-door hatchback (chassis code E-RNN14 in Japan, and badged as Sunny GTI-R in Europe with chassis code EGNN14). This was a homologation variant produced between 1990 and 1994 in order to enter the WRC under Group A rules at that time. It featured the turbocharged 2.0-litre SR20DET engine producing 169 kilowatts (227 hp) and 29 kg·m (280 N·m; 210 lb·ft). The body is largely the same as the standard N14 three-door model, but distinguished by the large rear wing and bonnet scoop. It has an ATTESA all-wheel drive system and a unique variant (coded 54C) of the SR20DET engine (not used on any other car). With a power-to-weight ratio of 0.083 and AWD, the standard GTI-R is able to accelerate from 0–100 kph in the 5 second bracket, and cover the standing quarter mile in the 13 second bracket (Nissan never quoted the official figures but Best Motoring magazine conducted several tests with standard cars during production). Top speed is officially stated as 232 km/h (144 mph).

I have a buddy in the Marine Corps who get sick while flying in the cabin (like a passenger) but…he is a fucking pilot. He is only ok in the cockpit…I thought it was something made up until I saw the way he looked as he blew chunks off the ramp of a CH-53E. I’m pretty sure he couldn’t have faked that.

Man I can’t wait for the track season to start!

Apparently not uncommon. I have a good friend that flew F4 Phantoms in Vietnam and then was a commercial pilot for many years after that and still hates to fly as a passenger.

I’m generally a terrible passenger as well. Easily car sick, especially in the back seat. I can’t read in the car, either.

The exception is when I’m on the track with a professional in the driver’s seat - that hasn’t bothered me.

Wow, all you guys get motion sick as a passenger? That is a new one. I just hate being a passenger in a car where I know the driver is ignorant or just plain stupid about of what they should be doing. Driving is the most dangerous thing that normal people do everyday and that is largely because they halfass it.

By the way, how did we miss this gem of a lulz?

It’s funny that these threads pop up every once in a while from guys in the Middle East. I think they have such deep pockets that they’re willing to do crazy shit to their cars, regardless of the risk.

Nevermind…I love these threads because when someone says ‘why bother…just go 10s @ 130 with a supercharger and a great looking curve’ the morons who grew up worshipping turbos on little shitboxes show themselves.

“I love turbos man…turbos are the best”

So even though the turbo car will be slower, have lag to 3800 RPM, and will sound like dogshit, not to mention being multiples more expensive and less reliable, you would rather turbocharge the motor?

“Turbos are the best”

OK bud.

Why would you wsnt the instant power of a superchsrger when you can have the lag and mess of the turbo…nothing like am empty 600whp dyno sheet to go with you 6 sencond 0-60 time…

Lol
