OEM IS OEM … That being said people get a bit confused between the terms OEM and OEM fitment and how to differentiate between the 2.
In case you forgot OEM means Originial Equipment Manufacturer.
Do JHM “OEM” rotors come from an actual dealership or the company that makes the rotors for audi? If yes they are OEM
If not they are “OEM FITMENT” meaning they are made according to OEM specs, but are not actually OEM.
OEM fitment disc’s might be made to the exact same size, but not the same materials or compound. These possible “OEM fitments” might be harder to bed in then normal disc’s.
looks like the quattrofailers got together and planned a little anti jhm/pro AMD mini assault on audizine lol. Smoothe guys…nobody can tell your motives!
The old school b5 guys could talk some legitimate smack. These new guys like sexican are just tired and come up with nothing…probably doesn’t even know the third gear story.
Haha I’ve been around for probably longer than most (running on 10 years now in the Audi scene).
Can’t really race in the rain. Tracks are closed. Just waiting on a nice day here. WA sucks, everything is always green and rains all the time. Even when the weather forecast says SUN, just means “chance of snow”. I think this I the only state that can see 4 seasons during any of the 4 seasons.
when the B6 S4 was relatively new, some douche bought one then was telling everyone about his ‘kills’. Claimed that he raced a Ferrari (355 I think) and lost but when they raced in 3rd gear, he pulled hard. Then the moron went on and on about 3rd gear being like a secret weapon yada yada yada. Then another guy did the same, and it spawned a pretty tame by today’s standards flamefest with B5 S4 guys chiming in (because he mentioned beating a couple of B5s).
The B5 guys, hating the new car because it was well, not a B5, jumped on this opportunity to make fun of the B6 owner and use him as a poster boy for the entire B6 scene. This despite the fact the guys was never really on the forums and never really posted again.
Oddly enough the guy owned his car for like 5 minutes and moved on, yet they still reference this as if it is still relevant and/or funny. They reference it like anyone else even mentions third gear on the 4.2 side of the forums. They don’t.
Remember this was back in the day when the B6 had no real mods…other than APR/GIAC tunes and 2.25" exhaust, both of which made, as near as makes no difference, zero gains over stock, so it was easy to make fun of the platform. The B5 guys were so used to picking up 100 wtq and 70 whp from tune and piggies that the B6 was a joke as far as ‘tunability’ was concerned (even though the stock B6 would beat most stage II cars lol).
Fast forward a few years and the B5 guys love to reference it. It’s funny because you hear B5 S4 guys reference the third gear thing almost as often as you hear them mention that a stage II B5 is faster than any B6/7 S4 with exhaust/tune etc. It’s just the standard forum lore…you hear something and then hear it repeated over and over. Audiworld did a ‘test’ of a stage 0 b5, stage 1 b5, stage 2 b5 and a stock B6 when the B6 came out. The guys who ran the test ALL owned B5 S4s and were classic B6 hating trolls. Not surprisingly the B6 lost badly to everything but the stock B5. If you search the internet for races between B6/7 S4s and stage 1 or 2 B5 S4s you’ll see that the 4.2 car almost always kills the B5. Of course they never reference the facts…just the forum lore.
Honestly though it’s because the third gear is very short, way shorter than most other Audi transmissions, so paired with that great V8 torque it must feel very strong. This is why I’m so curious about using this trans on other platforms.
funny, I never really thought ‘wow 3rd gear is great’ on my B7 S4. It was just the gear between 2nd and 4th.
Against a B5 S4 stage 3 car it pulled at first, then held him off till he caught me at the top of it. Once I was in 4th and he was in 4th he flew away.
But otherwise, I can’t really say I’ve done too many 3rd gear pulls vs. other cars, nor was I ever in third at the strip and thinking ‘wow the car is really pulling!’.
