The new XS-nopower salesman is in there referencing a B5 A4 4.2 belt engine swap car using them as ‘proof’

When you read the thread

  1. the A4 swap car had to send them back because they didn’t fit for shit

  2. two seperate B6/7 S4 owners who bought and installed the headers had to repair and re-weld them due to leaks/cracks

  3. both of them later re-pulled the motor (that’s always cheap and easy lol) and removed / trashed the piece of shit nopower headers because they broke again

It’s funny, the moron poorhead kids on audizine think JHM makes these for $200 and sells them for $2500 like they’re big fatcats. I’ve seen them made. I’ve seen a breakdown of all of the costs and invoices for the hard parts that go into them, as well as the labour. JHM is making SWEET FUCK ALL on these things because they make them right. If they make $300 profit, it’s a great day. if they waste ANY material at all when making them, the extra labour and materials mean they are breaking even on them.

It’s a really shitty product to make right. Problem is you can’t make them any other way or else you end up with this cheap shit that doesn’t work.

If you have a B6/7 S4 you have 3 choices

  1. piggies $free or $350 - gut your precats on the stock downpipes. They work very well. +15hp/tq or so. Maybe 20.

  2. 2.5 catless stainless $800 - +25-30 hp/tq or so

  3. JHM headers $2700 - +40hp/60tq or so…best sound ever…insanely instant throttle response…no drone. Can’t be beat but expensive.

If you try anything else, you’re likely wasting your money. I get that people want to be trailblazers and become famous in a car platform they will own for 2 years max, but at the end of the day, you’re just trying to reinvent a wheel that we have (thousands of us) already invented for you.

Seeing as how ASP basically said they’re not going to continue with B8 development because primetime was mean (yes they claimed they’re stepping away from the absolute greatest Audi tuning market in 10 years because primetime challenged them to prove that their parts work), I think it’s a safe bet that they failed miserably. If you could write a tune for the B8, even if you’re ugly, and really mean to people, as long as you open that bypass valve you would sell 100 tunes over a couple of years . The car will gain 40-50 hp even if you do nothing else. That will sell for $800 easily…and that is the easiest $80,000 in revenue your shop will ever see. Tools will set you back a few bucks, sure, but honestly, anyone who says they are not continuing in the B8 market is covering up a problem.
