Here we ho again.

We’ve already hashed through all that. Just link AlWaleed to this thread, started by a B8 S4 owner…

The facts are simple (along with some of my opinions  ):

Price: JHM dominates. $12,000 for stage 2 vs. $19,000 for APR3+. No contest.

Performance: Virtually identical

Development: Pretty comparable, but JHM actually owns an RS4 and has for 3 years…APR borrowed a dealer’s RS4. JHM also appears to know more about the engine than APR does (or anyone does) based on some of the choices in the APR kit

Reputation: JHM has the best 4.2 reputation in the world of Audis. APR has the best broad company reputation. For my money, I want the guys who know the 4.2 inside out rather than the guys who are fastest to tune the new RS7 or 2.0T. JHM spends 75% of their time on the 4.2.

Scalability: This is where people are missing the point. The TVSr1740 in the APR kit is MAXED OUT. The Vortech V3 Si in the JHM kit is nowhere near out of steam in stage 2. JHM will have a stage 3 option for owners who want to grow. The blower is good for another 200 WHP vs. stage 2.

Appearance: This is the weirdest one…but some of the retards evaluate based on whose is prettier, even though last time I checked, my hood is usually closed when I’m in the car. I guess these are for people who like to pop the hood and impress strangers at car shows? That screams “something’s missing in my life” but hey let’s humour them. For my money I want the kit that looks like stock, not the one that turns my ‘AUDI RS4’ into an ‘APR’. The JHM kit is virtually undetectible both audibly and visually. The APR kit screams ‘supercharged aftermarket car’ both visually and audibly. I like the design of the Audi (quattro) intake manifold, personally. The APR manifold has nothing on Audi (quattro) design. People will then say 'it doesn’t look modded enough (the JHM kit). These are the people who put extra badges on the car, so again I’m not sure JHM or any company should cater to their insecurity.

Hehe 8)

+karma to Mistro and OscarMeyer for linking to AudiRevolution. Hopefully they don’t receive infractions for doing so.

I like flyingfuckhead saying that there basically isn’t a JHM kit…haha

Well, when you spend $40,000 on modifications to your car as he did, only to fall short of catching JHM’s record, you have only one choice to salve your bruised ego: DENIAL

Why are people so confused on audizoo

APR 1740 kit =$19,250

Not $17,000. Not $17,750.

It is $19,250 minimum.

Cheers! I saw Saki had updated it this morning so figured it would post it over there, that way they could see every option, and I wouldn’t look to JHM biased lol

Hahaha I was thinking about that, You could have a full built block with supercharger system and supporting mods for the same price, maybe alittle less… It’s mind blowing when you think about it.

Price: Is important. You have to charge enough to be able to cover your basics costs, and amortize the tooling back in the amount of sales you forecast. Its a balance. But keeping low overhead costs, while trying to offer a great product to the enthusiasts is important as understanding the system, and a goal to reach. You can’t build a kit and charge more for it, than the car is worth, if your goal is to serve the community. These kits all cost a significant amount of money.

Appearance:
It’s got to look the part. Stealth, Bling, Quality… Its got to look like the purpose it serves. People aren’t dumb ( most enthusiasts hopefully ) and people want to see the craftsmanship and work involved. Even the stock RS4 motor has exposed and crafted details. The design is not what people are buying in the end. But if looks more than a bucket of bolts, it helps.

Scalability:
No one talks about this. Companies don’t even say what charger they are using, or how hard they are driving it.
Charger, Size, Speed, gearing… Do you want your hardware only one way? Can you or will your tuner help you change things as you want to take the kit further ?

The Stock RS4 Crank Pulley is ~ 200mm. Why does not one share how things are being operated.

This is still ongoing… funny that he still posts in regional forums and people interact normally with him. And he’s posting about buying air suspension and wheels and crap.
