I took sometime to read the post and I’d have to say you’re fair and making a solid point. Doug calling you the number one hater is a bad move as I think you’re critical… as you should be. After catching someone Photoshoping a compressor map I’d think more A4 guys would be backing you up. Then to find out he’s potentially selling untested turbos?? again how are more not critical? I think you’ve made all great points with loads of self control.
Lastly… did I read that frankin was bashing ETG. Is ETG not a company anymore?
When the frankenturbo blew up he claimed it was an issue with the tuning, that the throttle body was closing at high rpm and a turbo spinning at such high rpm can be damaged by taht kind of engine problem. Curious how we never see any garretts or borg warners fail this way…anyway he totally threw ETG under the bus which was hilarious because a few months back he was all about how they were reputable. J fonz is off working for some new company I forgot the name, sean probably still sells his PPD’s and SRM is still SRM.
You know I’m honestly blown away by the a4 guys. Not only do they not bring up any questions, but they even back up doug…Talk about stockholm syndrome.
Seriously…I think I am young and stupid at 23, but this is a whole nother level.
Between that, the wheel threads, and that one dude that keeps posting about coilovers and exhaust tips. It’s just too much sometimes and I just want to blow up at everyone for their inability to use Google or make a decision for themselves/use common sense. Everyone is so starving for other people’s approval/praise and spoon fed information its pathetic sometimes.
God forbid you spend an hour of your time researching an issue that has been covered before over multiple forums!
Exactly. To me this is grounds for their TERMINATION as an advertiser. How the hell are ALL of the A4 guys not jumping on him every time he posts? If this were the B67 section of old, anytime they even logged in people would have INSTANTLY said GTFO ten at a time.
Anthony is a complete idiot for not taking action there. To me that is as bad as GSG Intake or PES .
THE GUY FUCKING INVENTED A COMPRESSOR MAP OUT OF THIN AIR.
that tells you that
A) he doesn’t have a CLUE what he’s doing…it’s not hard to make a replica turbo and test it lol
B) he doesn’t have a shred of ethical dignity in his body
Unfortunately Ethics don’t pay the bills, but vendors do so they can do whatever they like on AZ. GTFO was exactly the response I was looking for, but no one on audizine really even cares. Its shocking to say the least. Or maybe people are just afraid to speak up against a vendor, worst case scenario you get banned, not the end of the world. Not even a serious threat, being banned isn’t even a slap on the wrist, you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
Exactly if I’m going to get banned form audizine for speaking out against a vendor who is lying (btdt…see: APR lying about Count Vohn tuning their tvsr1320 kit and Anthony banning me for calling them out) is that really a place you want to be anyway?
I had an oil consumption test done on our B8 A4 and was surprised to see nothing in place to stop us from syphoning some oil out. We didn’t need to as it had the dreaded 2.0T piston issue and it burned a quarter in 1000 kms or so and we had the rebuild done. But I was wondering…what if an RS4 engine was on the line here. You’d think Audi would have an unbreakable seal…or would do the miles themselves before giving you a $20,000 comp.
The B8 A4 2.0Ts were a common enough issue that the Audi technical assistance guys didn’t second guess the readings too much.
You are right that there isn’t anything stopping the customer from syphoning out some engine oil but if there is a problem with an engine that isn’t such a common issue then they start to ask more questions and require more diagnosis. For example, I had a 2006 B7 S4 that was under CPO warranty with very high oil consumption. We did an oil consumption test to find it was burning like four quarts per thousand miles. They then had me do compression and cylinder leakage tests. The compression was ok but cylinder 6 took longer than the rest to get a similar result. Then when I did the cylinder leakage tests I found that cylinder 5 had over 50% leakage and cylinder 6 had over 65% cylinder leakage. Lastly they had me look down the spark plug holes with a boroscope to see if there was cylinder scoring.
Other techs have had to take the heads off to see if it was the valve stem seals or minor scoring in the cylinders.
