That poor guy in the AZ thread has blown up at least 2 B5’s within a matter of hours! I think he’s 17 or 18, prior to blowing the 2nd, his mom wanted someone to teach him how to drive it (after it was repaired) guess he missed a gear pretty bad and it was toast. Paid for by Mom, repaired by USP, broken by eager young son. I guess he’s living vicariously through hypothetical threads!

That sounds like a young kid that has not had the S4 for very long. A older more mature poster would have played off the jokes and responded with more detailed information. He probably drives like he stole it and was not prepared for it to slide on summer tires.

Kid never admitted to having summer tires did he? But he loved that POS Z of his! Perfect example is my silverado which was a 4WD crewcab…had 33" x 12.5" cooper discoverer stt on it (great mud tire, huge grooves for traction) but they absolutely sucked in the snow…mostly because they were wide as shit! Common sense…why should people help.

I don’t get how he had no trouble with ihs 350Z on summer tires, but can’t drive his S4 on summers…that makes no sense.

I’ve driven mild winters with full-tread summer tires (not all seasons), once on my B5 S4 and once on a subie. The only issue asides from atrocious braking distances was steering with the throttle…it was easier to do in the subie, too.
From a dig, awd traction with summer tires wasn’t much different than 2-seasons old winters on my M5 or S600.

Must have been mild conditions of snow, ice, temp, compared to a worsen conditions. Doesn’t matter how good your winters are if you’re driving on a sheet of ice.
Just this morning commute was like a parking lot on the freeway. Conditions looked fine however it was 12 degrees F , foggy, clear appearing roads. Turns out the sleet iced the roads lightly and a dozen wrecks within 6 miles of just southbound traffic.
