Mangrove to Iphone

All of your pros are also cons to most people.

Most people aren’t tech savy and can’t manipulate operating systems like you. Then some know a little about that stuff which is truly just enough to get them in trouble. I’ve noticed with windows or android system things you can download or find on the internet are buggy and have issues 95% of the time. You hate them or piss with them so much you just delete them in the end.

Basically your right, the customization of non iOS/OSx devices is cool and very available, but about 5% of those options are worth a shit. On the other hand Apple controls the shit out of their applications and I’d say 90% of the applications available are worth it and 5% may be shit.

I get frustrated at some of the iOS compatibility issues, but for me the pros out weigh the few cons I’ve ran into. The best thing for all of us is that there is no shortage of options when it comes to computers, phones, tablets, etc…

The surface pro 3 is an amazing piece of kit.

Bottom line is there are lots of options for cross platform use I use Google Music which works via browser on windows and has a decent ios app. Dropbox, Google drive, Netflix, AR etc all work on all platforms. So it’s not a big deal anymore.

Every device has a deal maker/breaker. Mine is the lack of removable battery on a phone. so no iPhone or nexus phone for me

Well…so far everything that I’ve heard about the 6 is that its disappointment.

I need a samsung fanboi to sell me on why I need an overly complicated phone.

Sakimano?

What the hell are people expecting? I’m not sure what it is that people think they “NEED”

My phone, makes phone calls…I can send texts, listen to music, take pretty decent pictures, and surf the web.

Also, I view certain work documents (Excel, word, pdf) if need be…but if I was going to actually do work, it wouldn’t be on a phone.

Truthfully what else is there?

The only things that were changed were the screen size for the plus, the camera and functions, a few options in iOS 8…the main chip and the styling (lightly). If you got the regular 6…not too much.

If you went into this thinking the Phone would be amazing compared to the last…your an idiot and didn’t understand what you were buying in the first place. Just another reason why it was idiotic to stand in ridiculous lines to be FIRST to have it.

me personally? I wasn’t planning on buying it. My battery sucks in my 4s, but I figured i would pick up a 5 and be happy with it, or get a replacement battery for my 4s. I’m not sure what people were expecting, but everyone seems to be a bit disappointed, at least of the people that I’ve talked to who bought it. I don’t really blame them, its a phone, a 20 mile long features list might look appealing until you actually hold the phone and realize you only need it for 3 things.

IPhone 6 is still a good phone. Main reasons to go Samsung are preference, price, variety, battery life. Go android and the variety gets even bigger .

The BB Z10 is a great little phone but there were too many apps unavailable for it compared to abdroind/ios

if that’s the case, get a $29 flip phone. Why did you waste $500 on an iPhone5?

as for ‘what do people want’ they spent $800 don’t forget. So, they want

1., a great battery life
2. a fast as hell phone to do the complicated stuff we ask our phones to do
3. a straight forward operating system that doesn’t crash/hang/kill apps
4. amazing download and upload speeds
5. a fantastic camera
6. a great screen

These are some of the things you pay $800 for. You don’t pay $800 to do ‘basic call and text’. If that’s all you need your phone to do, you’re not the market that these phone ccompanies are going after. You sound more like what our parents use phones for. So an old fashioned motorola flip phone might be more your speed? Many of the people who bought an iphone 6 or 6+ bought them to basically be a tablet replacement, and or a mini computer. If that’s not working…well shit why SHOULDN’T they be upset?

MEC as far as Samsung fanboys go, I’m not a great example. I have had 3 of their phones in a row, and I am pretty sure for the past 3 years they have had the best phones in the world. I avoided the iPhone at first because I liked a blackberry with a physical keyboard. I switched to a no keyboard phone in 2012, and was shown a Samsung S2 by boraVR6 from the forum. He filmed my car at the dragstrip vs. a C63 and when I saw the video, I was blown away. (not as blown away as the C63 was though  )

The bigger size was incredible compared to an iPhone 4 which was just out at the time. So I got one., Then I got a Note. Then I got a Note 3. For me size was the biggest determinant of what I would buy, and in 2012, when Tim Cook made this commercial

mocking the size of the bigger Samsung phones, and saying the tiny 4" screen IPHONE 5 was ‘perfect’ and ‘common sense’…it was clear that apple was years away from offering a big phone, so I stuck with Samsung.

Now that Apple has levelled the playing field in the one thing that matters more than anything to me about a phone (screen size) it’s tougher to say Samsung is way better. I am not a root guy. I am a pretty basic user who uses the shit out of my camera for video and photos, and surfs the fuck out of the web and writes 100 emails a day on my phone. I think they can all do this pretty well.

Samsung camera is better. Samsung screen is better. Samsung battery life is better. Everything else is a wash. They’re all great in reality.

You missed me man, I was more or less referring to people being disappointed with the 6 compared to the last 5s.
I listed the advantages of the 6, but the most important upgrade is the PLUS, with the larger screen like you said.
Other than that there isn’t much to be BLOWN away by.

I use my phone constantly, way beyond the capabilities of a flip phone, haha…thanks

All that shit does work just fine…probably, people just build up expectations in their mind and disappoint themselves…then bitch.

It’s the same idiots that stood in a pointless line for days (like you mentioned), I don’t think we should take their words for it.

I picked up the iPhone6 last night after work; said f**k the lines and sheepish waiting.

Anyways, here’s my one day old review of my iPhone6 aka iSamsung 6:

** power button - why the f**k did it move from the top to the side? Was there an actual complaint on where it was, at the top left? Whatever, it’s an aesthetic complaint…it’s now easier to access with my thumb (righty) than extending my pointer finger up and on the edge.

** screen - it’s bigger…Whoopty-f**king-do? I opted for the 4.7 versus the 5.5 mainly because I don’t need a friggin tablet dangling from my vest or pocket in uniform! In the off chance I get shot in the ass from the side, the 5.5 will absorb most of the bullets kinetic energy leaving shards of iphone 6 in my ass. Other than that, the bump from 4 to 4.7 is nice on the eyes, even though my font is set to the smallest size; tumblr viewing of ASSets and firearms is somewhat more frequent now.

** memory storage (minus cache) - first time ever going with 64gb, here’s why:

iPhone3: 8gb - filled up to almost capacity within 2yrs
iPhone4: 8gb - filled up to almost capacity within 2yrs
iPhone5: 16gb - I think this was the lowest base they offered, filled up half to three-quarters within 1.5yrs (it got rained on and crapped out the remaining 6mo)
iPhone6: 64gb - why they didn’t offer the 32gb is beyond me and 16gb felt obsolete.

Why did 16gb feel obsolete for a guy who barely has any music and any apps on his phone? Because from previous experience, all my base sized storage space somehow gets used up from pics, texts, emails, calendar data. I seriously have no idea what fills up my phone, all pics are normally downloaded onto my computer after I reach a certain number of pics/videos. Also, with the way apps and data gets processed nowadays, I feel 16gb will fill up within a year for whatever basic use I put it through. And for the price of a 64gb, it was the same price for an iPhone 5 32gb when it was released two years ago.

** Casing - it’s slim and feels “durable”. I don’t know how on earth the rest of the apple fanboi/girls do it but I’m boggled as to how they manage to crack the screen on the last model. The 4, ya understandable but the 5 was wrapped with aluminum…how the f**k do you still manage to crack the screen? Primary example is wifey, went through three iPhone 5’s. Anyways, the new casing feels sturdy and “sleek” but fits in my palm pretty well; only issue I have is the slight reach of thumb to whatever upper right/left corner but nothing’s up in those corners so why bitch?! I also opted for the “Space Grey” which I will conveniently rename “Dolphin Grey Flat” because it looks like the color of my Avant but flat.

** iOS8 - I’m actually more excited about the connectivity and continuity between iOS8 and Max OSX Yosemite. Since it’s only been a day, I haven’t really had a chance to play with the updated iOS but it does seem a little more fluid than 7.

** Camera - haven’t used it yet

Overall, I don’t understand what all the hype was about. The apple fan-people can go kick rocks if they think this is the latest and greatest but continually bitch about the lack of personalization and individuality. Apple is not about personalization and individuality, it’s about simplicity and “minimalism”, stop trying to have your cake while picking away at your fat fucking cubicle neighbors cake, too!

The droid people are annoying as well. Wow, you’re “leading” the phone OS advancement, congrats…WHO THE F**K cares, it’s a phone OS. So what if the new Apple marketing campaign is playing catch up? You were in a same place a few years ago when Apple dominated (still sorta does) the scene with their innovative iOS. Your smartphone is only as good as it’s smart user but in the end, it’s a phone, a tool you use in your everyday life. /rant

Most people’s cracked screen stories start off with “I was drunk…” Or at least the people I know lol.

LOL that was a great review!

Good review

For the record apple has never dominated anything smartphone related. Just TV and celebrity hype.

Motorola dominated.
Nokia dominated.
Ericsson dominated.
Motorola dominated again.
Blackberry dominated like nobody has ever dominated before.
Android dominated (and continues to dominate)

Apple literally dominates nothing in smartphone… Just US egocentric media coverage which is constantly portraying a xenophobic view of the world smart phone scene whenever Finland or Canada or Korea starts to takeover.

I’m gonna ahead and call BS on this. It wasn’t because they were drunk, it was because they were being idiots taking selfies or videoing dumb stuff.

In the whatever years I’ve owned the iPhone (from three to five), I’ve never had the iPhone in a case longer than 2mo. The ONLY iPhone I had crack on me was the four, I think it got crushed during a training op (baton/asp to the chest).

But seriously though, all my phones literally get dropped from a height of 2ft plus, get struck or pancaked, dragged, steppe on, etc…these phones get beat to hell under my ownership and they held up pretty well. If I showed you all the dents/dings/scratches on the back and front of my iPhone’s, you would be shocked! Every person I’ve allowed to use my phone asks me “dafuq happened to your phone? why don’t you have a case?”

The original iPhone was a pretty big game changer, not sure how you can marginalize that. All current cell phones copy that design and ui. Android would not exist if iOS wasn’t first.

Second you are basing your domination off market share, not profitability. Pretty hard to compete with Google when they give their os away for free.

I just know I came from a Blackberry to iPhone and that was pretty much comparable to advancing a few decades.

I would have to agree with notarmed, Apple drove the market with smart phones…like it or not. They had one of the first multi-touch, larger screens, and that alone changed the game for other companies to compete with.

Nokia was the industry leader until the iPhone came around. Then Nokia tried to copy them by building a cell phone that also worked as a “computer” rather than building a “computer” that made calls. They were hanging on by a thread with stock prices down to $1.60 a few years ago. They may not have had the most sales or highest profitability, but Apple changed the game with the iPhone and damn near ended a giant in the process.

Are you fucking kidding me? Are you calling me a liar? You don’t know me, or my friends, so you can go ahead and go fuck yourself.

Who gives a fuck if they were taking a selfie or video. You really have a stick so far up your ass you’ve never gotten wasted and taken a few pictures? Shit happens and a lot of times it makes for a funny story. Get over yourself.

Does anyone remember the iPaq, Handspring treo phones and Kyocera something-something PDA/phones?

I remember selling those things in the summer of 2001 through 2002, this was also the time when Apple mass released their iPod for compatible use with Windows. The sales number with these iPaq/Treos were not all that great until the iPhone came onto the scene a few years later…

Point is, Apple took over the market in regards to the “smartphone” market and like notarmed stated, everyone else played catch up with Apple. My rant wasn’t about Apple revolutionizing the current market, it was more about the fan-sheeple claiming that Apple products are the latest and greatest thing to hit the market…it isn’t. The other rant was directed towards the android users not remembering where their roots came from.

All-in-all, the smartphone products are beginning to get bland and blend in with one another; there’s no innovation anywhere. It’s like the software updates, they’re just adding additional usage features for convenience. My review was really meant for the apple people…my facebook was literally littered with “iphone 6 is God”-like posts and then when I posted a real-talk assessment of what I though of my iPhone, I got attacked for hating on Apple. Haha, dafuq?

I’m sorry, did you get butthurt because I called BS on your experience? Getting drunk and dropping your phone “by accident” is a poor excuse for saying “I got white boy wasted and attempted to use my phone to recorded some stupid bullshit for tomorrow’s amusement but ended up dropping it and it cracked!”

Funny thing about funny stories, only you and your friends get them, no one else does nor does anyone else care. My example was about the iPhones holding up to abuse under normal AND accidental-non-alcoholic use…aka a non-funny “I wasn’t drunk” factual story.

Slow your roll Bruh
