Maybe some new B8 S4 records this weekend

When we were at the strip on Saturday http://audirevolution.net/forum/index.php?topic=2474.0 there was a guy there with a B8 facelift S4.

A few things stuck out

  1. he asked Mistro ‘Is that sakimano?’ pointing at me which is funny because I had no idea who he was, nor have I posted on Audizine in 2 years lol. My reputation precedes me.

  2. he had a GIAC stage 1 tune, and GIAC TCU, stock wheels I believe. Not sure on exhaust although exhaust doesn’t matter a ton.

  3. he had stock intake but had an aftermarket intake with him that he planned to install mid-day

Density altitude was in the -700 feet range when I checked around noon, and the sun was out, however there was a strong cold headwind in our face in the morning which eased up later in the day. He got there late, so the headwind was still there, but had calmed down a bit. Still annoying though.

I saw him make only one pass and it was a 12.11 @ 113 or something, at around 1 oclock. I think he installed his intake after that.

Mistro made a video of the guy running 12.00 after that…and apparently he snuck into the 11s as well.

Not sure exactly what the time and trap were.

B8 facelift in black
DSG
GIAC stage1 93
GIAC TCU
some kind of intake
94 octane

So could be a new pump gas record overall…and a new stage 1 record as well. Not sure if the guy posts on audizine but Mistro may have more information.

Hi Sakimano,

That was me, the guy with the baby seats in the back seat…LOL. Nice meeting you this weekend.

Just to clarify, the GIAC tune I have is Stage 2 not Stage 1. I managed to squeeze into the 11s after installing the Roc Euro intake. Mistro got my 12.00 pass on video after the intake install but his camera died just before my 11.969 @114.17 pass. I tried attaching the time slip but got the following error:

“The upload folder is full. Please try a smaller file and/or contact an administrator.”

I reduced the file size to 118 kb but it still failed. I can email or PM to you so you can post it. Let me know what you prefer.

Here is some additional info…

Specs:

2013 B8.5 S4
S-Tronic
Stock exhaust
Stock 19" peelers w/ stock Conti summers
1/2 tank of Petro Canada 94 with a bit of 91 left from previous fill

Mods:

GIAC Stage 2
GIAC TCU tune
Roc Euro intake
Eurocode front and rear sways
Eurocode endlinks
Eurocode Alu Kreuz

Technique:

Shallow stage
Traction control OFF
No launch control
Dynamic mode

Awesome. Makes sense you were stage 2. I asked Mistro for that information. His words

“He said he was stage 1. He was pretty clear about it”

lol

Sounds like Mistro is not the guy to go to for information

Your times are excellent. Not quite a new pump gas record, but close.

primetime B8 S4 3.0T Auto 93 APR S2 034 HFC/Milltek TVSr1320 11.93 116.99 1.69
Custom intake, APR CPS, Brembo LW BBK, JHM LW RR, LW wheels

You pretty much have a perfect setup for making good power on a B8 S4, and your times bear that out. You’d be giving the top of the list a run for their money with some 112 in there on teh GIAC 104+ file. Just in case you’re bored next weekend or something. Supposed to be cold on Saturday (9 celsius).

Post up your 12.0 and 11.96 timeslips if you can.

You can upload them to photobucket or imgur or tinypic and paste the .jpg location in between

94 octane pump gas, i can only wish

Such an awesome time!

GIAC Stage 2 and Intake on 93 with no other mods is pretty incredible…

Basically $1,800 in mods. Nuts.

thanks freeride for posting the slip

Why no launch control?

Ughhh, I really hope St Thomas is open this weekend.

shows the exhaust mods being maybe…irrelevant?

81bear had APR2, decat, milltek, lw wheels, etc and he never went that fast at that track on 94

From what it seems, GIAC Stage 2 B8.5 are a quicker than every other B8 setup.

how so? Who else has been quick?

and are APR facelift cars shifting at 6400 or whatever? that can’t be good for business…

Hey hey hey… I said he was pretty clear about “no pulley” lol

Here’s the video of his 12.00 pass.

My phone died by the next pass though, but I think he had a gopro on the car.

Freeride what were your 60’s on your next few passes?

Both Ryan and Ron are the only two cars besides my pops to break into the 11.6 range.

Ryan is Catless and has weight reduction…
Ron has HFC’s and weight reduction as well…

My pops car went quicker than Ron and just .01 seconds slower than Ryan on stock cats, stock rotors, and wheels that are heavier than stock (tires are a lot lighter so overall package is ~2lbs lighter but negligible nonetheless)

My B8.5 trapped 119+ and consistent 118’s and I got a good amount of 11 second runs in- more than my B8 and I also beat my B8 record…

The Supreme B8.5 ran 11.7 with stock rotors and cats and on 91/E85 mix.

From the small example of B8.5 we’ve seen it looks like they are getting similar or better numbers with less mods…

Same with this new car above, only has Stage 2 as intake and is as fast as primes pump run which he had full mods.

True, however Ron’s DA was not -1300 feet or whatever your dad’s car was with Tsivas jockeying it.

True again, but how many people ran without all those other mods? The platform is new right? And sites like this one are showing on B8 and facelift that existing exhaust offerings do just about nothing on these cars. So…guys are running without exhaust mods now. Don’t forget Ryan was running super quick with stock exhaust. In fact he had the fastest time (but from a non certified track) for a while didn’t he?

So all around, if we take your car Pete, and eliminate your headers and catback and just run it with stock exhaust, the times I reckon would be identical. Same goes for Primetime. Same for 81bear.

The cars that are running with less mods are guys that have seen the results and realised that $5,000 in exhaust is virtually worthless on a B8 S4.

You could of course be right. I’m just throwing that out there. I haven’t dug through the numbers. Go have a look at our list. Unfortunately the B8 facelift cars aren’t identified as such but you know the usernames I reckon.

61 degrees and ~-70 DA on my pops 11.6 run.

At a certified track Ryan’s best run was 11.8 with stock cats and 11.6 with the 034 Testpipes.

But I 100% agree saki not enough info out there to say for sure if either of what were saying is correct

ah then you may be on to something because that knocks out the two things I thought

It could also have something to do with gearing.

How come no one has noted that the 8.5 are running GIACs latest tune.

No wonder they are going faster than “all other” B8’s. You could still compare to APR cars however, but no doubt they will be faster in comparison to any car running GIACs “older” software.

Hey I might try again on a test and tune night with lw rotors on nick’s car.
