The car will run differently in “stock” mode with a pulley. It’s a map compensated to perform like stock otherwise you’d be bleeding boost earlier. Also I’m not sure “stock” mode or reflashing back to stock will do anything if an unlock has to be applied before the tune. Does reflashing also mean relocking the ecu? If an unlocked ecu that’s been flashed back to stock can still be detected then that’s just as bad as having the tune on the car
thanks prime! been lurking around AR for the past couple weeks or so. defintely an informative forum here and am learning alot. I am the person Tsivas mentioned earlier about going back to stock due to uncertainties. I figured I’d sit this one out for now until things start settling down with the tunes and then go back. My 30 day refund was about to expire this week, so I had to really make a tough decision pretty quickly… I planned to meet Tsivas to collect more data on this tune but unfortunely timing didnt work out. I at least got a free trial out of this to get a taste of power. lol seriously though, going back stock really hurts… Felt like I just chopped my car’s nuts off and he lost it’s manhood :’(
I hope everything goes ok with your car tribe. Been following this thread closely to see the outcome and hope everything works out.
Yes but won’t an apr car have all the knock detection safety parameters in place regardless of if it’s in tuned or “stock” mode? Isn’t that what we are looking at anyways?
I’m doing several cars for comparison anyways. You know me. I find every excuse to do logs lol.
Why not do a Revo stage1, Revo “stock”, apr stage 2, apr “stock”, giac stage 1, giac “stock”?- all with same testing parameters and measuring blocks that silentbob had tribe do and see what happens in regards to knock voltage/detection etc.
They actually assured me that the file they use to return to stock was “audi’s” file but not about Audi detecting them. I’m sure Audi will still detect I tampered the ECU. Hoping my good relationship with my SA will help me, but if not at the least I wanted to reduce the risk for it to break down and need any warranty repairs lol.
You have the variable MAF (which is engine load) you can log. Ajust the pedal so that you keep that at ~300-400 on the pull. Don’t floor it. Choose a gear that gives you about 10 seconds from 1000-4000 RPM to have enough data points because the logging rate of VCDS is not that great and clear the failure memory before you do the pull.
Look at the example I have posted. This method should be best for comparable results.
Variables to log are:
N (engine speed)
MAF (load)
Knock sensor voltage for each cyl
Was confused there also. VCDS data logging for the B8 S4 shows maf values in kg/h.
I believe I usually reach ~1400-1415 kg/h or 388-393 g/s with my current APR stage 2 setup, and I hit about 1340 kg/h or 372 g/s when I was stage 1 .
A Stock s4 is not hitting 300-400 g/s for sure. I believe I reached about 1005 kg/h when I was stock or about 279 g/s and that was very close to redline, not down low.
Not sure how comparable that is to the NA 4.2 cars (different MAF, different TB etc.) but I think around 310-320 g/second is decent for a stock RS4.
Here’s a log of my car that peaked at 154 g/sec (we have 2 ECUs so you’d need to log both of them for both engine banks) so you can double that to come up with about 308 g/sec. My was never carbon cleaned so I’m sure I could see that closer to 315-320 if clean. Not the end of the world.
Yeah when I logged Tony’s RS4 it showed g/s for MAF also. Think he hit 155 g/s (310 total) post carbon clean and 139-140 (280 total) g/s pre carbon clean. My MK5 R32 showed g/s too.
Don’t know why B8 S4 MAF is in those units. I believe you will see kg/h also on the stock B8 you are gonna log.
Hey guys, finally got back from Miami and jeez this thread is awesome! silentbob your graphs are VERY clear to me on how badly the knock sensors are filtered. On VCDS you can get 4-5 samples/second, it will not likely be as good a resolution as you show.
Would LOVE to know how to get a hold of that Conti software. APR is teasing us about a version of ECU-x for the Conti, but saying they will only let APR-tuned users use it, and something about only for iOS. Kinda disappointed, sounds like vaporware to me.
I will get a chance to do the log in different modes on my APR S2 car, unless Tsivas beats me to it. Silentbob, I’m quite sure I’ve seen the mg/stroke block you told me earlier, sorry for relaying the instructions to Pablo and Tsivas wrong.
