MIL on knock sensor

Ok if you can’t find the block in mg/stroke:

by my 30-second math, on our 6-cylinder, 300 mg/stroke will work out to about 15 g/sec at 1000 rpm, multiply to get any other rpm (i.e. 45 g/sec at 3000 rpm). Saki you can assume 20 g/sec at 1000 rpm and go from there.

Feel free to check the math yourself, I did it really quick using the google search bar as a calculator.

This sounds right, it’s SOME load but not 300 g/second load.

Simply buy a 5000€ license for the software + a 3500€ interface here http://www.etas.com/en/products/applications_mcd_calibrating_inca.php and then figure out the ram adresses for the variables you want to log and you are ready to go

Look at tribes first log. He had the right MAF there.

Saki- just look at tribe’s excel file he posted- the measuring blocks are on there.

Groups: 325, 392, 397, 398,399,400,401,402

Make sure turbo and group request buttons checked.

Hey Jason - all good man. I probably won’t get around to doing my car until Monday night (away in Tampa for work). Apexit and a GIAC car are heading out also to do some vbox runs finally and I’ll try and do the vag logs as well.

tried to log the stock b8 last night but couldn’t find my damn vagcom cable. I got some pbox data for tsivas at least

I’ll find the cable today and see about getting the info.

while driving is there any type of driving I need to do? Wot? 3rd gear to redline? Or doesn’t matter?

Saki- I believe u just log the parameters listed above per SB and tribe’s log.

Per SB : "You have the variable MAF (which is engine load) you can log. Ajust the pedal so that you keep that at ~300-400 on the pull. Don’t floor it. Choose a gear that gives you about 10 seconds from 1000-4000 RPM to have enough data points because the logging rate of VCDS is not that great and clear the failure memory before you do the pull. "

I would just use third or fourth gear and adjust pedal/throttle to keep that 300-400 mg/stroke value SB wants.

what does ‘clear the failure memory before the pull’ mean
?

Just clear fault codes even if there is none. This will reset the knock sensors

Cool

Just a little update on my Readiness; All “Passed” I wasn’t giving it time enough. Now I know

Good to hear.

Are you implying that PaperishPlastic is having trouble with his Revo tune? He isn’t. What is the implication here?

^^^just spreading rumours that’s all.

At this point I’m starting to think that the problem is with my car. Maybe the tune just sped up something that was going to happen anyways…

After this thread went public on AZ a few days ago I got a LOT of PMs with REVO tuned guys asking questions. I asked back and no one had had a MIL; most had VCDS and got NO fault codes, and a few didn’t have VCDS.

Unfortunately due to TD1 now it’s more difficult to go to the dealer to properly diagnose my car…

I wonder how Audi is catching the tuned cars? Would be cool if APR would give you a cable and the ability to log in to a server with ‘your’ tune options there. Stock (actual stock file, not a replica of stock), 91, 93, 100 etc. When you are going to the dealer, you log in to the server and load up the stock file.

Wonder if that’s what it’ll come to.

I think the ECU gets marked for life after a flash. Maybe they could rent out a Stock ECU with keys and all just to go to the dealer…

that sucks if so.

And Arin recently admitted that APR’s tune (even in stock mode) will show up when scanned by an Audi dealer.

To me, the concern about TD1 is a little premature. We’ve yet to see dealerships denying warranty work en masse because of an ECU tune. Some dealerships are more mod-friendly than others, so the key is to identify those dealers that are willing to work with you despite the mods.

unfortunately warranty work has NOTHING to do with the dealership. when serious warranty work comes into play, the final word comes from the regional audi field rep who are assigned dealerships in the area. ive been down this road and have been denied warranty work from audi due to a tune on the car(my rs4). this is nothing new to me, and after replacing my motor on my rs4 i went right at it again. modifying ANYTHING wether its a car, electronics, etc. you void warranty. hell on electronics just cracking the seal voids warranty. somehow people have difficulties grasping this concept of tampering and then expecting audi to cover the bill… i know it blows but people need to have more realistic expectations or just leave well enough alone
