More Air

ask mickf29 about it…

Funny, just thinking. Very similar you and he.

I wonder how much the hood buckles if you press it down to close it. ;D

Gents, everything is going to be OK…trust me?! Leaving to go to the shop now.

So what did you decide to do about the water issue?

…and how exaclty is it going to be a “sealed” setup?

If the scoop is just directing airflow to the intake filter…how will there be a ram air effect?

I don’t think you thought into this much at all. The dremel was the first warning sign.

The second sign will be you admitting that the below product was actually just a tube of liquid nails from Lowes.

Wait, from these pictures, are you putting the duct on top of the hood? Also, isn’t the hood curved there, doubt it will fit flush?

I think a lot of you guys are over thinking this.
The whole airduct on the hood/somewhere else thing has been done many times.
It doesn’t need to be a perfect seal to get some form of ram air effect.

Guess what? Even the stock airbox is not a true air tight seal, yet it still looks to draw air from the outside.
Same idea going on here–except even more effective.

Not sure that this is “rice” either, as by definition, rice = race inspired cosmetic enhancement.

Clearly, this is most certainly not a cosmetic enhancement…and I’d venture to say there is a lot more rice going on in other audi boards that are more deserving of the hate

My comment about the fitment was more to do with how it looks then performance.

That’s one of those acronyms that people create afterwards.

Rice is a reference to JDM retards with giant wings and otherwise tacky modifications to their Japanese cars. Rice is a staple carbohydrate in Japanese diets.

It’s like GOLF and someone saying it stands for gentlemen only, ladies forbidden. Crock. It’s just something someone made up.

The duct is going into the engine compartment near, about half an inch, from the Roc Euro air filter. Not worried about water unless I used scat hose, removed the air filter, and attached the two.

Sure, while I agree, I am still of the opinion that rice = any cosmetic add on which is intended for customizing the car to make it look faster

So a spoiler, lip, splitter, wheels, lowering for aesthetics, stickers, tint etc etc. Is all rice in my books hahaha.
If it doesnt make the car faster, or drive differently, or make it more reliable, or more suited for circuit work…then all it was, was a purchase to attain the “look of performance”

An american car, european car, asian car etc…can all have rice. But yes, perhaps it started primarily with the japanese marques. Though i’d argue rice began much before that, and it was on our domestic marques!

I like rice!

lol, you’re being a sport about this

Anyways keep the pics coming!

Then the mod is nearly pointless in my opinion and could have been accomplished by running a duct from somewhere else (bumper/grille)

This mod is twice as rice as the 350Z bumper/hood scoops. Although we already arrived at rice when you see the front grille’s horribly placed Audi Rings.

^LOL!

Perhaps.
Though hood vents are functional, as it reduces a ton of lift caused by air hanging out in the engine bay after flowing through the radiator. I was eyeing a vented hood for my Boss 302 when I had one  Wut dat rice do. hahaha

I’m crushed you don’t like my car…heartbroken!

Left car again so hood paint could dry. Underside of hood. Yes, looks a mess but blanket will be over it.

Still a little fine tuning to do.

From the initial pictures this looks smooth. While I still think this quite radical it’s looking clean. You said you’d be able to cap that hole off in rain?

Doesn’t look too bad, other than the paint matching. When you get the chance, take a pic from further back so we can see the whole thing.
