the radar cruise control is nice, but I hate the blind spot crap, it just gets in the way and beeps at stupid crap.

EVEN WORSE, the blind spot awareness in the new B8 & other new audi’s will set off the K band for Valentine 1 radar detectors regardless of it’s on or not. You may be able to pull the fuse (if it has a dependent fuse), but otherwise it’ll just set the detector off constantly. Talk about annoying! A friend who got a B8 S4 had to sell his V1 b/c it was worthless in the car, and I HATE going on cruises with him for that fact haha.

your friend should have done research, there are two solutions for that, either pull the fuse in the trunk for side assist or turn off POP on the radar and itll work fine. but i agree with you, i hate the side assist for making me second guess whats in my blind spot

^yea I figure there had to be something, but he owned one of the B8’s early on when I don’t think some of that had been figured out.

Either way, it’s still a pain for me as I don’t want to disable PoP on my V1.

i didnt wanna disable it either so thats why i pulled the fuse, i hate side assist

It must be just the Audi system that sets off the V1. The MB system doesn’t set off my radar and I have POP enabled and I use “A” mode (capital A)

No, it just depends on the exact system used. Infiniti’s laser radar/cruise control system has been setting the V1 Laser’s signal off for years now, very annoying and numbs you to laser (which isn’t exactly good). Chevy trailblazers top neon brake light will do it too as will some neon signs due to the frequency the gases vibrate at.

I want to think there’s one other manufacture that sets off actual radar, but can’t recall now.

I personally like side assist in our B8. What’s the big deal? If it flashes at you when you’re about to change lanes, and there’s nobody there, that’s not such a big deal,. It’s not like it’s causing you to crash. It causes you to not change lanes (if you decide to listen to it).

Personally I’ve never had it go off ‘wrong’ when I’m about to change lanes. I’ve had it go off when I’m in the left lane about to turn and a pole triggers it or something, but again that’s rare, and really not a big deal.

Yeah Infiniti FX’s an their laser cruise system are annoying. Whenever I see a brief shot of laser on the V1, it’s almost always an infiniti.

So the problem has been solved. It wasn’t tune related either. I’ve had a leak at the high flow coolant pump from apr. at higher rpm it’s been letting in air causing the supercharger to overheat. Apr hooked up a new pump and the car feels like a monster now. I wish the strip was open right now. I’d be there right now since I took the day off from work lol

go do some 60-130 times for the B5 guys and do a 1/4 mile run for us (using that PBOX).

Rich, Glad you got it sorted out… can you elaborate a little more… wanna keep an eye on mine in case I experience anything similar this spring… was it the hose, connection, pump itself? My pump makes some loud noises when it first kicks on and I had the system purged twice so I want to make sure there is no air in there… later Ron

you know what’s awesome??? subykiller keeps talking about what a 1/4 mile superstar Tyson the twink is. Fact is Tyson did everything in his power to come up with excuses for NOT taking his RS4 to the dragstrip…for 2 fucking years while he was pimping that bitch kit VF Engineering had him promote on the forums.

Why? Because when he did go, the car ran high 12s/13s and they couldn’t figure it out so they just avoided the dragstrip discussion like it was a 50,000 volt live wire.

Anyway, if Tyson is running with his DSG car with FUCKING TRACTION CONTROL ON…how seriously can we really take anything he or anyone connected to him says about his quarter mile prowess?

also, isn’t it true that the fastest (primetime), 2nd fastest (81bear) and 3rd fastest (kavan) B8 S4 times are all APR tuned? And 5 fastest is as well?

You would notice the leak(if u regularly check the resivior) I would have to top it up every other day. There was a slow leak from the pump itself causing quite a bit of air in the system

traction control on, deep staging, constant air pressure in the tires(he claimed to be spinning at LV and there are ways to reduce that), not holding a steady line down the track, and on and on… yeah he knows how to drag race all right…
