MTM...should be putting on the exhaust this week.

I finally got my parts from MTM. Basically they design their catback to directly connect to their 2.75" down pipes and also provide adapters to go from oem down pipes to their catback.

I did not want to modify my oem down pipes or the MTM catback and thought the $125 that I paid for the adapters was worth it. It took three weeks to get them to my house.

Now I have to decide if I am going to do the install or just go and have them installed. I will get a price on it and then make the decision, more than likely will have a shop do the install as it should be about $200.

Will have to take video of before and after to see if there is any difference.

Looking forward to it (the video  )

Who sells MTM in the states these days for a B6?

he owns an RS4…that would be a b7 body

Just so you guys know…even though Joe Hoppen went bust or whatever (they were the USA authorized MTM dealer) you can still order MTM stuff from the other authorized dealer, Horchaus in Montreal.

I see these guys getting ripped off by Europrice for spacers on the ‘group buy’ and have to just say wtf?

Does any one know if MTM has an exhaust for 25quattro or is it just a B6 one? I guess will be calling Canada.

Don’t waste your money, call fast intentions in Cali, ask for Danny. You’ll get a quality exhaust with amazing sound, it is also one of the best fitting exhausts I’ve ever installed.

I have to agree, I have never had FI on my audi but on previous cars and fitment and sound is topnotch plus highest boost in power. Tony is the owner, good guy!

I would go with the FI exhaust as well. The only reason I went with the MTM catback was because it cost me $1500 plus $125 for the adapter from MTM. Otherwise I would have just got the full exhaust from JHM when it came out.

Danny?

I don’t think so, that last time I spoke with FI Tony is unless he sold it.

Took some vagcom logging and go-pro video of the car yesterday prior to switching to the mtm catback.

rs4_saloon did the vagcom logging and used his go-pro to capture the sound while we were doing the logging.

my car is somewhat slow based on the logging we captured when we did the 3-8K pulls. but we wanted the data to do a baseline on the car.

will do the mtm swap this weekend.

post up the log if you can.

what parameters did you log?

rs4_saloon will post up the results. he is the objective observer in these test.

my plans are to get the mtm on and do another vag com/go-pro video of the pulls.

then see if there were any diffs.

after that need to go and get the oil changed…i am past due on this but dont drive the car much. really need to eventually do a carbon clean and then another vag com/go-pro video of the pulls.

i know yesterday I was running with 1/4 tank of gas with both rs4_saloon and I in the car. Got to find out the temps for 08057 when we were doing the pulls it was around 6 pm.

a catback won’t do anything for the most part, especially on a stock tune car. Don’t sweat it much. As long as it’s 2.75" and the bends are reasonable, it shouldn’t be hurting. So there’s not much to really look for.

Get together with someone with a pbox if you want to do some homebrew performance testing. A lot more reliable than vagcom.

what’s 08057? postal? Just go to dragtimes.com and TOOLS and DENSITY ALTITUDE CALCULATOR and then choose the nearest dragstrip for an approximation.

yes, i am not expecting too much from the exhaust just hoping it does sound a little better.

what exactly is a pbox?

‘Performance Box’ by Racelogic.

GPS based performance measurement device used by tons of car nerds like us (this is what the ‘official 60-130’ list uses on 6speed for example). It is a dumbed down versoin of the V-box, which is what most of the magazines use for testing.

Speaking of PBox - I compared my less expensive GTech unit with a PBox. They are nearly identical in every aspect of time/mph/distance recording etc.

PBox I think has more “respect” in the market place but I’m happy to know my little GTech unit is on par with the PBOX for the pertinent items I use perosnally.

Yeah, they’re similar.

I found GTECH however was sharper on the short times than pbox…and was less sharp on the long times.

Now take your frigging car to a dragstrip already! It’s supposed to be freezing cold this week

I want to. Temps are good, cars healthy.

But roughly 3 hours each way to a track that only offers test & tune at 5PM on Wednesdays SUCKS. Just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

If they opened at 9am for test & tune I would leave my house at 5:00am, ahead of the commuters for the most part, get there a little early, let the car cool, get a few runs in and be done and back on the road by 1-2PM. Perfect day.

Unless I’m mistaken, the test & tune time slots suck balls for people who live far away from the track.
