My 2013 Audi TT-RS Build Thread…

holy shit 12.02. That’s nuts.

You’re around 100 octane, and tuned for 93 (but I assume APR builds in some upside for a 93 tune to take advantage of a little octane improvement).

That’s really getting crazy. I mean we’re talking just a fucking tune???

117 trap on a 93 tune?! Damn bro that thing is moving…

Stage 2 and a 104 tune I think you’ll hit 122-123 on the stock turbo.

Great stuff Ron. That’s really moving.

Saki, Thanks! Yeah, wasn’t sure I wanted to do what I did but given the DA I thought it would be something to do where I may be able to improve the times given the worse conditions and it worked… Not trying to set records perse just run the car hard… It’s such a fun car really… The ride from my house to the strip is all 45-55 backroads that are windy and hilly, man does this car corner… LOL

Pete, Thanks! Yeah 93 tune but I am sure the ecu was generous with timing given how the ecus work and their ability to adapt… I’m sure the 100 specific tune would be better but I am happy with what I got… I don’t think 122-123 will happen but I could be wrong, probably more like 120-121… Will find out sooner than later ;D

J, thanks!

Here is the slip… Ironically, I was #30 last night again and #30 last time at the strip, how ironic is that? LOL

So I had planned to hit the strip last night in the S4 to have a semi grudge race with a good buddy/co-workers friend… Unfortunately, he had something come up so he couldn’t make it… I wasn’t going to go as the DA wasn’t like it has been the last two nights and figured I would spend the time with my son… Well he was being a brat and I decided I would go at the last minute but would take the TTRS… As I was getting ready to leave I realized I needed gas… I had about 1/8 tank of Shell 93. Was going to get some more pump but decided to try 2 gallons of Shell URT mixed with the 1/8 tank which brought me up to around 1/4 tank or a little more…

Car: 2013 Audi TT-RS - 6-speed, 1,200ish miles, 1/4 tank of gas, full weight, 38psi up front 34psi out back

Mods: APR 93 tune, 1/8 tank of Shell 93 and 2ish gallons of Shell URT

Conditions: 61F, 64% humidity, 29.96BP or a DA of 1,758. This is about 600 foot difference to the worse than last time when I went 12.12 in 1,134DA…

Made 2 passes… Wasn’t sure how I would do with the worse DA but better fuel… Track was a little slicker because last time I went was a Sat. with a big event so there was much much better prep. Last night was basically a ton of street cars not a lot of big power cars…

First pass ended up being the best one…
1.7208 60ft time
5.0452 330ft time
7.7576 1/8 ET
90.47 1/8 MPH
10.0760 1000ft time
12.0239 1/4 ET
117.09 1/4 MPH

I spun a little on the launch do mostly IMO to the track prep… Unfortunately, I didn’t tape the runs so I can’t see my exact launch RPM but it was between 4K-4.5K I think I hit my shifts nearly perfectly… I always look at my passes and test them with the 1.55 rule, so with that it was a very good pass since 7.7576 * 1.55 = 12.02428. IMO the closer the actual time is to the projected time the cleaner pass… At least that is what I have seen on my S4 passes… So only picked up a tenth in ET with the fuel but got a nice bump in MPH of over 1.5 mph in trap speed…

Overall, I continue to be pretty impressed with this car… My only worry is the clutch as I am working it hard on the launch… It hasn’t shown any ill effects yet but I think as I push it more and harder it will become the weak point… I am fairly confident that I could eek out an 11.9x pass on straight pump in a near zero DA… I may try to do that or I may switch to the 100 tune and try that… I am pretty sure I could come close to my S4 times with this car and just the 100 tune and equal conditions! Pretty impressive IMO… Again, sorry no vid this time… I’ll get the slip up shortly… Oh the other pass was a 12.07 at 116.53…

Congrats on that awesome time, Ron! Would be great to see you get into the 11s with a 93 tune on pump.

I was car #3482 twice within a short time. I wonder if that is where the count starts for me or if the tech guy just likes that number for some reason.

Great runs! So envious of low 12s right now.

Prime just come clean and make us slower guys feel better. Its time to come out of the light and admit not every car is going to be as fast as you like… #30 one nitght and then 30# again… No you were #36 just admit it…

dam you contine you imporess. This is just the begining.

you have two basically 11.7 cars… I mean if you puyt the TTRS on the same gas you have in the S4 they would be about the same…To me I think… The S4 with the stage 3 blower will be mid to low 11 the TTRS with stage 3 will be close to the same maybe a little quicker… The TTRS is cool but isn’t it really just a smaller version of your S4 with less practical usage…My question is the TTRS that geat of a car in your eyes that you would want both from where I see it they seem to over lap eachother.

^^^they definitely overlap from a Dragstrip perspective but they couldn’t be more different. I bet the ttrs is a blast for pt to drive. I bet he reaches for the keys 7 times for everyone time he takes the s4 somewhere unless baby or cargo is involved.

The ttrs is a little go kart and makes a crazy howl. Tossable as hell. Manual too which changes everything. The s4 is much more refined, bigger and more cumbersome (relatively speaking ), more comfortable and less conspicuous.

Night and day really.

That is truly excellent. PT again doing it right with APR. Threatening 11’s with just a tune. The 5-pot to be legendary again

Brandon, thanks!

Jimmy, Thanks! Yeah I go alot and I think this is the first time I got the same number in back to back times… It was/is odd…

Chris, Thanks… Like Saki said the car’s are actually night and day and his analysis was pretty spot on…

Saki, Yeah lately that has been the case in terms of which one to drive… rowing the gears and the size of the car make it so much more fun really…

Bango, Thanks! Yeah the powerplant is pretty stout and has surprised me… It’s basically as fast as the S4 with just a race gas tune(obviously speculating but pretty confident)…
