My B6 S4 JHM SC Install

Not trying to steal the Count’s thunder (but per his suggestion) I will be posting my experience installing the JHM supercharger on my B6 S4.

A quick history on the car - I took delivery of it in March 2004 and it currently has 135k miles. Most of the miles are highway (traveled a lot for a prior job) and it usually sees the track/auto x at least twice a year. It has gone through various mods and I was really considering selling it before JHM hit the scene. Once I got some JHM parts on the car, I quickly changed my mind. It currently has:

  • JHM Intake Manifold (the orignal red mani ;D)
  • JHM Crank Pulley
  • JHM Stage 3 clutch kit
  • JHM 93 tune
  • Piggies (modified with a 2.5 inch “cat”)
  • Magnaflow exhaust
  • Apikol snub and rear diff mounts

There are others, but the above are the pertinent ones.

Back in 2010 when the car had a bit more than 100k, the engine received new valve seals and all new timing gear (including chains).

The install begins on the 17th, so expect more details after that.

Congrats, looking forward to all the info & pics!

Super excited for you man. Ill make sure to update my thread so you can offer your thoughts on that as well.

Red will forever be the fastest color!

Good to see another blown s4. will you be down in jersey for any shows this year? would be great to finally meet you considering we are not too far away and shoot the shit

best of luck

good stuff!

put something beside the blower so people can get some scale, like a pop can or something. Thing is frigging huge.

Thanks B.

I plan to hit some shows. The goal is to get to H2O this year and maybe Waterfest with both my car and my buddies B6 A4 with the ABA 2.0t.

Thanks Saki. Yeah, when I opened the blower at the shop the reponse was “Holy Shit! That thing is huge. Where does it fit??”

That is a massive blower or a small engine (I guess if it fits in our engine bay it is small lol). Good stuff though speed looking forward to more pics

ohhhhhhh ok… well… well. You can now see why the JHM supercharger dominates all others by a long shot. Even the rotrex units used on the S5 are not 1/2 that size. While I fully understand that bigger might not be better its seems that here isn’t the case.

That blower is a monster… When JHM says there blower isn’t even working at 50% its total output you can see how true that is and how thats totally possible

I know there are dozons of these supercharged JHM cars still it never gets old seeing the builds of the B6 and B7 S4s… Thanks for doing this thread OP. Im excited to see it

Good luck man. Looking forward to the updates.

Damn I’m not sure what to be more jealous about, your fresh timing or the supercharger?

Can’t wait. This install is going to be awesome…

It’s a V8 but not a big V8. Weighs around 460 lbs with trans.

It’s a massive blower and a medium sized engine.

always the best combo for crazy power. keep those upgates coming speed. Yiou abnd 91 shou8ld go sucker people in street racaes. Show up with your car and then say… wait a sec I have to go put on my race rims and then come back wqith 91s car

Thanks!! The Rotrex is definitely dwarfed by the Vortech unit. I want to see the real world numbers out of those TTS kits. It looks great, but I still question the performance.

I hear ya. I say supercharger because it should bring a bigger smile to my face.

Say Word!!

ROTFLMAO. Now that would be hilarious.

x2.

Really leaning towards getting into a B6 lately, cant wait to see this build finished.

Update - I finally got started today. I was able to get a few hours in. Today the focus was getting the fluids drained, pulling off the front end and removing the stuff that’s in the way. All of the goals were accomplished, also changed the knock sensors, swapped injectors, and changed the plugs. I also installed a couple of pulleys. Hopefully I will have more time to spend on it tomorrow.

A quick synopsis on how everything looked - the pictures below were taken after pulling the front end. There was a bit of oil residue just below the valve covers, but not much. Overall, the engine bay was pretty clear. The hoses looked to be in good shape. To note, a few things were replace during the engine pull in 2010.
