My First Mods: Muffler Delete and Cold air intake

2000 Audi A8 fuel rail with regulator installed.

Grabbed a spare fuel supply line from a member on here to use as the return.

Used a mk4 1.8t fuel filter.

Cut two nipples off my old filter and welded them together to make a union to connect new fuel return line to existing one off the filter.

Cranked, fired, drove. Easy day.

Scuse the wind. It was a nice night.

Would like to hear it roar a little more, but ya it sounds good

Makes me realize I need to do a similar type video with my car. Lots of places in chi-town to create pretty cool videos.

No offense intended man but that seems kind of laggy. The noises are cool. Are you going to do any drag strip runs?

none taken. It is a little but with the torque of the v8 I really don’t mind and the only time I do is usually the bottom of 2nd in that 2k range. Regardless I still start making boost around 2000rpm depending on gear. Track soon.

so…to clarify

no dragstrip acceleration numbers
no vbox acceleration numbers
no vagcom log numbers

just a dyno, and an attempt to show delta by posting a dyno comparison to another car that at first had a $10,000 modlist…and upon further investigation may have just had a catback (which adds 0 vs. stock)

Have I got that right so far?

so…to clarify

Q: no dragstrip acceleration numbers? A: NOPE
Q: no vbox acceleration numbers? A: NOPE!
Q: no vagcom log numbers? A: i have plenty

Q: just a dyno, and an attempt to show delta by posting a dyno comparison to another car that at first had a $10,000 modlist…?

A: 10K modlist? Seriously Saki-Wasbi?

Anyway, Here’s a log from my boost controller.
Conditions 80* Ambient
Flat road. It’s Florida, everywhere is boring and flat.

Please take note of gear selected and start and end times. It’s my rough FATS time.

oh yea thats on 235/40/18s

Why does this guy have a -10 rep?

Good Question. Shrugs ???

The Member Rating system or MR for short is simple. Positive Member Rating rating shows members as having a strong presence in the forum. This in the future will come with extended privileges, for now it is more of a symbol of a strong following. Negative MR rating shows that the forum membership and said member seem to be clashing. Just like a positive MR status comes with extended privileges, negative MR will result in negative/loss of privileges.

The MR system has been built with the idea of keeping it fair and helpful for all. Negative MR can result in reduction of privileges or suspension of ones account. In order to keep this fair and to prevent abuse, only active members (150 or more posts) and non restricted members have the ability to add or delete MR. Each user can only give or remove A MR once every 24 hours for each individual. With over 1000 actual members and close to 400 members currently able to vote on MR, MR can swing up or down quite quickly depending on on member’s actions.

Anyone who gets a MR of -10 gets warned that they are on the wrong track.

Anyone who gets -20 gets a 1 week suspension / reduced member privileges.

Anyone who gets -30 gets shut down for 1 month.

I guess i’m “on the wrong track”

hahaha, this guy just posted his FATS times

I think what you’re doing is awesome! Keep up the good work. Everyone wants numbers but that will come in time. Just the fact that you got it running on remote turbos and plumbed up … And it’s still not blown up is impressive!

Cheers

Fats time. B5itis . Incurable illness.
In his defence I mocked the thread for all the promises of ‘proof’ of power and joked that there’s not even a log. He may have thought I was serious and that a log proves something (it doesn’t)

Headers and catback and tune etc comes up to 10 grand pretty quick. Maybe you’re new.

Headers are near $3500 installed on their own. Catbacks are 1500 bucks. Tunes are 750. Hey look already hitting 6 grand. No other mods? No lw wheels etc?

Meanwhile the guys car may or may not have even had a catback exhaust. You don’t know.

‘I crushed a headers car on the dyno!’ turns into ‘I crushed a bone stock car on the dyno!’ real quick when people ask tough questions.

Still waiting for a 1/4 mile timeslip (one you’re willing to share that is…)

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but I’m sure q-dubz will hit a strip sooner or later after he’s done fine tuning his setup. It’s nice to see someone go in a different direction and actually making it work. We just want to see more numbers man lol Keep it up!

100% correct! Someone gets it!

p.s. i’m at -11 member rating now! ;D  ;D

You’re wrong

I frankly have little interest due to qdubs being “one of those guys”

Lets not forget qdubs busted on to the seene here calling everyone naive. He said how easy all this is and wondered why so many people were not excited about turbo V8 cars.

Well one. turbo v8 cars and remote turbo cars are not new to the 4.2. Several remote turbo kits were built over the years and they all were pretty much the same fail qdubs cars is. Lets keep in mind qdubs cars has been running turbo charged for almost two years now. This isnlt something he just got running yesterday. This is something he got done over 18 months ago. And lets remember he told us how easy it was and called everyone naive.

I think possibly the issue with people knocking qdubs might be why I have no interest in him or this project.

starting with. He seems to be constantly trying to pine for acceptance in hopes that someone will say his car isnt a fail as he obviously knows it is. First he tried to say a modded S4 with headers makes 260whp when a modded header car makes about 310whp His car with this turbo kit made 340whp All these numbers were from him but.

Then he starts talking about FATS times. WE ALL KNOW if your talking about FASTS times your a joke and so is your car and thats what keeps going on. qdubs keeps going on about FATS when that is about the most naive thing you can talk about as it has no or zero real world application other then to serve as a cover up for slow cars.

When we see video of qdubs car we see why he would only use FATS and thats because his project is slow just like the last remote turbo projects and they are not all its cracked up to be.

Everyone can apprechate a different direction but most dont go and do a remote turbo or even turbo direction because they are not Naive. Naive is calling people who know better and the draw backs of doing a remote or turbo all together naive only to be a rolling example of why not to do a turbo on your car.

I think more people would have respect for qdubs if he was like the honest guys in this and anyother platform. They actually come forward to say. This sucks and here is why. This part is good this part was bad and now I can see why others had there opinions.

Lets recap.
qdubs called the communits Naive about turbos but proved why nobody uses them

He posted dyno results and tried to inflate them only to show he actually only made about 50wtq more than what he called a stock S4

He has had this car running for almost 2 years and he still has no results. Lets keep in mind he lives in a state where you can run at a track year round I believe

He hasnt ran at the track but he has ran on the dyno. Ran on the street and keeps posting videos of his car street racing and lets not forget he has usless Logs that he wants to use as Proof he car isnt slow.

Well the educated comunity knows why qdubs hasnt taken his car to the track over the past two years and thats because doing a turbo and even a remote turbo you run into a ton of sacrafices and you have to sacrafice a lot. You loose or have to remove lots of things in the system that make the car more usable.

Who knows why he had to change his fueling system JHM can make over 500wtq and over as much HP with the stock system. My car on the JHM NOS system makes huge TQ and a large amount of hp that I wouldnt say is safe for everyone to run and Im still on the stock system.

In the end fuel system issues turbo issues who cares. Most people would like to just enjoy what most peoples projects are. I love to see guys doing great things. I love looking in on the VF build where the owner is honest and shows the great and the fail. Not just trying to paint a rosy picture when you know theres a lot of stinky shit.

FACT is you dont have a GREAT running car for almost two years where you show videos talk about dyno runs and the joke of FATS times times and not take it to the track because its running great and fast. You dont take it to the track because its not impressive. Lets not forget several other turbo cars have run slow stock times due to lag and the other draw backs to doing turbo.

So why is qdubs at a negitive. I think people are sick of watching as he tries to convince himself that his car is fast and trying to do the same to those that read the thread. Jimmy said it best when he pointed that out. If your going to share only the throught that this is a great project and people see thats not whats going non here. Your just proving that YOUR Naive and the people who give the negitive karma are not.

So ill give some negitve karma just because I had to write this.

Exactly. After its all said and done. almost two years later this is what we called it. A dud. So what will happen now. The same thing that happens everytime. The project will fade after its called out or…More boost more boost till the car does something. Then the car might still be a little slower down low in the rev range where most people drive the car but like every turbo car you try to make up for it later in the RPM. The only issue is how much more boost do you have to run in the upper rpm to make up for the lack of power in the lower RPM. Usually you have to run so much boost the motor wont last too long.

Everyone knows with a turbo car just keep upping the boost. There isnt exactly other options. Its what you have to sacrafice in the low end and everyday that kinda makes the turbo option not a great one.
