Man, when they are open that’s loud. A good loud though. Closed was nice too!
hooooooooeeee doggy…narly!
Awesome!!
Great to see it back on the road.
I listened to this Vs the equal length header car. You can tell a big difference. Or do you have a CEL it sounds like the car is running rough. The exhaust didn’t sound “tight”
That flap open is just too much for me but the closed sounded still aggressive.
Yep, CEL is on, and they didnt change yet 3 faulty o2 sensors. So thst will be done probably next week

That makes good sense. You can hear the car isn’t running right in both the videos. If you have a faulty 02 it can cause all kinds of issues. Running rough and not smooth is at the top of the list.
The picture you showed above shows no room for 02s so I’m not sure where they are doing to put them or where they will put them. Just keep in mind that since the 5.2 has 4 banks if they don’t put the 02 bungs in the right spot your always going to have issues.
keep us posted.
Time for somw cleaning and polishing headlights. But it need be redone. Started with 800 sandpaper, but will see how will go with 600

very nice, what did you use to seal them afterwards?
When I do it to my s8 i am considering shooting a 2 part clear coat on it. Dont trust those little 1 part headlight sealers.
Super nice. I really need this done to mine. I’ll try to save your pics to send to a detailer as an example.
And today second finished. Now going to shop and see for some UV coating

Wow nice job, came out excellent. Did you sand by hand or use a drill?
Sand papers with hand, and final polish with polishing machine.
Last 6 days car was at mechanic, one cat get broke. So they replace it with new and replace 5 o2 sensors. 1x with 5 wire, 4x with 4 wire. Engine is now mutch more smooth. Dyno is in plan for next week

Are both of those the post cat O2 sensors? where are the pre cat/primary O2 sensors? Engine needs to see 4 of them in the appropriate banks…
Pics 1&2 sensors after cat, pics 3-4&5 before cat.
Little update, engine started missfire after about 30-40km. On scan it show issue with cats and o2 sensors, and missfire on some of cilinders. After delete errors car work fine but start again missfire, even more quicker, less than 10km. And continue like that, deletig errors and driving to see what will be, but same things all time.
Next what i did was disconnect electric valve for vacuum which open valves from SAI (under front plastic cover on engine where is IM el.motor) , after 200km car dont show any errors, no misfire and problems with cat and o2 sensors, only error is short circuit on that vacuum valve. Even cold start is mutch more better, smoother.
Reaching max speed is mutch easier, and hit new record of top speed. Next Tuesday is going to dyno
im still not sure how the car can operate properly with the primary O2 sensors being where they are on a stock tune.
With the equal length long tubes I assume the new calibration commands all 5 cylinders to use only 1 primary O2 sensor located in the collector for lambda control on that one bank.
With no tune, the ECM will attempt correcting lambda on bank 1/2 then 3/4 individually but it wont see a difference.
I think you have 2 primary O2 on the left and 2 primary O2 on the right.
Perhaps the system is not robust enough to realize the exhaust pulses are not the same as they were in the OEM locations, in which case its just dumb and happy, engine runs fine.
I knwo these cars use LSU 4.9 sensors which are very quick reacting.
Lets see some dyno runs!
Im not shure did they mix o2 order, but still 2 before and 2 after cat on each side. Today also checked through vcds and no errors. Tommorow will try disconnect vacuum hoses from that valbe and blanked them, and connect back el.valve, so hopefully CEL will be gone.
Dyno is done today, but still not received graphs. But it gives 291whp with flaps oppen, closed was around 288whp. Guy told me that it have arround 390chp. But will se on paper once i get it
What was before? What do other stock and modified cars do on that dyno?
Did they dyno in dyno mode (what gear?) and what gas
Also there is a crap ton of loss in this car maybe >32%+ loss through autotragic etc… I would expect more like 350-365 whp depending on gas, tune (jhm?), elevation, type of dyno etc. if it’s not jhm or experienced Audi NA tuner (can’t name one other than jhm) your gains will be extremely limited due to stock limits from ecu. Logs would be interesting to look at.
Smarter to Head to the track for real numbers, before and after would be interesting though
Thanks for keeping us posted. Its great to hear that the car picked up a more power with the flaps open. Not a big jump in power so its hard to say if That’s a nice little gain or not. It would be great to see the dyno itself to see how the power curve looks with the dumps open and closed.
Overall the car looks fantastic. You said you had a CEL if you can post that up we might be able to help give you more info on how to solve it.
Its tough as each dyno is different. The car isn’t going to be able to make gobs of power on the stock tune and he is still on the OEM tune from what it looks like. You mentioned it he will be limited due to the tune. 300whp is stock whp for the 5.2 most cars on most dynos some more loose dynos read in the 340 to 350whp range stock. When you do the math that works out about right after DT loss. Sounds like he still has some bugs but its great to see the car up and running.
