My Stoptech Trophy BBK.

Kind of splurged on this one… always wanted a complete kit more for the looks than the actual need for better braking (thought the stock brakes were great for my level of driving on the road course).

Never got a chance to post about it but here is my review… Brakes really hard and no fading … lol surprise! Well some perks other than looks… better race pad selection, lighter rotors/caliprs than stock and their own standard BBK, rear setup maintains hand brake (via secondary caliper) and durable anondized finish. Definitely feels balanced, no swerving under hard braking and no signs of rear locking up.

Love it…

Bastards make a rear kit for the RS4 but not the S4?? Sigh…

Looks great Kryp! Wheels are badass.

That garage floor… Did you do it, or was it like that when you bought the house? Looks great. I need to do that.

Great looking car Kryp!

Looks like that garage floor epoxy kit you can buy. I used this on my floor and initially it turned out pretty well, but the tires wear off the finish after a while. It may have been because my concrete floors were super old and dirty and I could only get them so clean, but IDK. I think I’d only try it if your floors are reasonably new and without impossible to remove stains.

Really, the rear calipers and rotors won’t bolt on?

Oh, beautiful RS4 by the way Kryp, the brakes are a really nice addition.

thanks! I did it myself… 2 years now and holding up perfectly! All depends on how you apply it… I used the floor coating from home depot… Did a serious power wash first, then acid etched the floor… Applied the epoxy and them applied the additional gloss coat. I think the gloss coat is what aids in the protection of the epoxy. Friend of mine did the same coating without the additional gloss gloss coat and its pealing where the tires ride over.

Cool. Got a link to the product you used? This gloss coat…is it usually part of the kits, or is it an extra thing you added?

We did the same thing to our warehouse floor at work and its been 3 years its holding up very well. We even put a $5 bill on the ground on top of the epoxy before we did the clear coat. It’s awesome customers come in and see it all the time and try to grab for the $5 bill. BTW I Wendy a little overboard with the flakes and I thought it was gonna come out like crap but, the extra flakes make the floor look really cool.

Must be what happened to mine, oh well, next time.

Ran into this thread and didn’t realize I never replied…

I had used this grey coating:

with an additional layer of this high gloss clear coating for extra protection

Still holding up good!

Hah I remember I asked you about BBK once you had it installed and you said you’d post a review thread. I don’t know how I missed this FML
Could you post couple more shots sideways like that last picture, but front and entire car.
Do you know by any chance whats is the calipers and rotors(both front and rear) weight?

Great garage floor! I might have to do this myself in the near future.

I did the exact same thing on my garage. Looks great (brakes too).

Would it not just bolt up the same?

The rear hubs are different. At least on the b6. And the bolt holes are different sizes.

Yep.

From the researching that I have done just about everything other than the rear subframe, upper rear control arms, and rear wheel bearings is different rear suspension and rear drivetrain wise from my B6 S4 to a B7 RS4. Now it gets fuzzy with certain B7 S4s to the B7 RS4s. Kind of like how the later B7 S4s had the 4:1 center diffs and the same clutch pressure plate as the RS4s.

Also remember that the StopTech rear RS4 BBK uses 355 rear rotors which are the same size as the front rotors that are used in the StopTech B6/7 S4 BBK.

Thanks. That is what I suspected but was unsure of.

Would it be possible to just switch the hub on a B7 S4 to that of the RS4 so as to accommodate the rear BBK of the RS4?

As jimmy was saying, its not really clear on the later years. I looked up the hub part number and it said it was the same as a b7 S4. but I never confirmed. Maybe he can post the part numbers that he has.

According to my search a few minutes ago, the stoptech website provided the following results for a 2007 RS4:

Big Brake Kit 2pc Rotor Red Caliper / Slotted Rotor 4 Piston Caliper, w/Parking Brake, 328x28mm Rotor Rear
83.113.0047.71

Big Brake Kit 2pc Rotor Red Caliper / Slotted Rotor 6 Piston Caliper, 380x32mm Rotor Front
83.113.6800.71

Looks like it’s 328x28mm for the rear and 380x32mm for the front.

Whereas the S4 is 355x32mm (front only)

Big Brake Kit 2pc Rotor Red Caliper / Slotted Rotor 6 Piston Caliper, 355x32mm Rotor Front
83.130.6700.71

Would love to have a rear kit but really not worth the money. It would purely be for cosmetics at this point and I’ve got more important things to spend my money on.

Axel, I just double checked StopTech’s website too and you are right that they list it as 328 mm rear rotors but that must be a mistake. The stock rear B7 RS4 rotors are 324 mm so that would not be much of a BBK. They must have mistaken it for the B5 RS4 rear BBK which is 328 mm.

Here is a link for what I found on other websites for the B7 RS4 and they show a 355 mm rear rotor.
