Hey Saki, I could be wrong on my cup car reference but I thought they were in the high 12’s and 12x? I’m only referring to the cup car, with a weight of 2600lb and 420-450bhp, I thought some would consider that slow.
Yes, I have had both cars on the Dyno and they do fine, the b7 is losing in this dept!
The B7 had all of the mods done w/ 5k on the clock which is also when it was on the rollers, bought new in Nov 08 with done in March of the following. I have a copy of the printout in a PDF, I’ll find it. Stock came in at 246hp which I thought was very low, after the mods, stasis exhaust and miltek dp’s they ran it again which is the middle figure, the the Giac piece bumped it up to 286. Since that time the only change I made was replacing tunes, went JHM and it woke up but it hasn’t been back since. I’ll post it b/c I’m not sure where tq came in. The B5 460hp/444tq.
Dyno of the B7 and I lied, maxed out at 280… Ouch! 38k miles later I’m hoping there is more, regardless I can’t think of another car I would rather drive unless it was a RS.
Sorry my intitial post on all the other forums would of been deleted for speaking the truth! Your car is far from any GT cup car sorry and how does that have anything to do with what 99.99% of us drive on the street?
I personal had 2 other setups in the past before thinking I was upgrading by buying this one.
Loved my RS6 car!
Sorry if some of you are bothered by my post, I’m not trying to form many relationships here just speaking the truth.
These cars weren’t made for the dyno. If you wanted a car to make serious dyno power you should have bought a supra. And if you wanted a big dyno Audi you should have bought an AAN single turbo inline 5 S2. Not a B5 s4.
I would dyno my rs4 but i’m not a very skilled dynoer…and if I did I would be happy making 125 whp.
You’re really saying this to a guy who didn’t post or mention his dyno until you personally and explicitly asked him, and to another guy who didn’t post his dyno at all? You love to argue about dyno’s so much that you argue even when there’s no one to argue with?
Where Tial 605 turbos suck and 1/4 drags rule. If you don’t drag your car (cause that’s the only way AR deems a car as fast) the. You must live your life one dyno at a time!
Hey saki, I believe you said after a few drag/track sessions you did some highway runs. Care to show us those vids? I’d love to see your 12.74 1/4 rs4 actually tearing it up on the streets…
I purposely refrained from posting Dyno figures, I also gave you more insight to the B7 figures knowing the negative vibe surrounding the tial B5’s.
You’re better than that Saki so leave me out of your Dyno shit. I never said I wanted to make big serious power (did I post this somewhere and not realize it)
We could easily take a peak at all of my post here on AR, since it’s been less than a week, it should be very easy to determine I have NEVER said anything about making big serious power and NEVER posted Dyno number until you asked.
Thanks for your suggestions regarding big power alternatives, may I ask why you think I said I wanted to make big power? Or can you admit that you’re wrong and you simply assumed this for some unknown reason.
I actually think Saki will admit to this. I made it clear from my first post I wouldn’t get roped in the dyno wars and 1/4 mile claims, this won’t change.
The funny thing is I have been on the Dyno 2x, once with each car. I don’t know how many passes I’ve made but it’s certainly more than two!
You people who make cracks about the quarter mile don’t seem to understand that we use the step as a measurement tool that reflects how the car accelerates through the first four gears. Just as you guys like to use the dyno
Making disparaging remarks about the quarter mile and suggesting those who use it as a tool bought the car for it or that they live their life one quarter mile at a time is silly…and when you admit to using a dyno to measure your cars (how on earth is that a measure of how it accelerates???) you are showing that you don’t open your mind. Why are those who like the quarter mile as a test (basically every car platform on the planet other than the B5 s4) stigmatized? Go on ls forums or mustang forums or Porsche forums or AMG forums and tell them the quarter mile isn’t a fantastic test and see how far you get.
Jupiter I think tials are probably fine…I just think epl doesn’t tune very well for acceleration through the gears (but make good power in gear) its just a theory and definitely not hate. What I hate is the dodgy salesmanship and the throwing customers under the bus and the customers who have a Shit fit when you ask a question about how, when tested at the strip, the cars don’t seen to do as well as the dyno suggests. Like this thread. Some guy bitches about his turbos blowing and a couple of tial boys immediately come in and start throwing quarter mile cracks around.
^^^^understood re: the 1/4 mile and the very good feedback it provides, I also agree the Dyno isn’t the best tool to evaluate real world performance. If I want determine how things are running I don’t beeline for the Dyno, I go to the track, so let’s understand I’m not a dyno-queen.
I’d still like you to point out where and when I said was looking to make big power?
You didn’t…that’s the Shit every one throws out about the strip when rebelling against it being a valid test (usually right after some version of their car/turbos/tune/whatever had just shit the bed at the strip)
Top Five
1 this car wasn’t made for the strip
2 if you wanted a drag car you should have bought (insert random old lightweight and cheap big power car here)
3 there are too many variables at the strip to trust the info
4 the gearing on the car is not ideal for the strip
Also as a side note, I’m not married to EPL and I’d be willing try other tunes especially if they can improve what I have. When it was clear JHM’s tune (B7) was far superior compared to competitors it didn’t take long for me to make a change. I would do the same with the B5 but haven’t looked into it. I’ve been to busy trying to find an improved BBK to stop this thing, absolutely killing rotors, JHM’s lightweight deals I toasted in 6 months.
Jupiter… So what is your issue with me or my questions I have asked about the epl tuned cars?? You came in here firing rhetoric at me with zero facts to counter any question I have asked. That’s the funny thing…I have not made many statements other than the cars don’t quarter anything like they dyno…rather just observations that epl cars with tials haven’t really held up to the dyno results…then questions for explanations and nobody has provided a suitable answer on the dearth of quarter mile success from epl B5 cars (K04 to tials) despite epic dyno success and that is fromfT Tony at epl down to guys like you who just bought the stuff.
No answers yet…just “you are a hater” and that list of quarter mile cracks. Like you just (predictably) did
