Hey guys, been a while since I have posted here. I have moved back home to the bay area, so I am close to Sacramento raceway. I went in august with a shitty DA (best was 12.352 @ 110mph w/ 1.8 60ft) , and so I went back this weekend with a good DA, and couldn’t beat my time. Best was 12.356 @115mph w/ 1.9 60ft. I can post the exact slips later if necessary. I was also cutting 2.0 - 2.1’s and couldn’t get traction this weekend. Was really hoping to crack 11’s. Any advice?
On another note, eurocode showed up and I saw him break the record with a 10.9 run. I have videos of his other runs but not the record run as it was his first run. They also ran their s7 and i have a few videos of that too.
Oh, I was running sunoco 110 , lowered my tire pressures but that ended up with worse 60ft’s. Was using Launch control and tried some mash and go’s also.
Ok… Post the slips I’ll be glad to help as will others… B8 or 8.5? Any logs? Sounds like your short times are killing you… Shitty tires? What pressure? Post those vids…
Um yeah would love to see the ec car making passes, please post those… Details on their record pass? Full interior? Tires? What were the other times?
Lol can anyone else hear the sound of panic from EC right now as they try to contact danavon7 to not tell how there car was stripped and had slicks or how bad the follow up runs were.
Danavon7 back to you here as that’s the most important thing.
Sac is in California so we’re you on 91 octane fuel. Cause that’s a big killer right there. Primetime is the king of the b8 so he will have better info then me but I’m happy to try and add some subjective help. The 60’ times alone looked like they kept you from an 11 second run. That would be the place to start looking.
Maybe some help or your video on what was going on at the launch would be a good start
Will post up slips when I get home. Tires are stock continentals , car has 8000 miles, however I just checked my tread and its really almost gone, wtf? What kind of tires should I consider? I may have to get tires very soon just to keep driving in the rain here. I don’t have any logs but my car is pretty barebone right now, GIAC stg2 off the shelf file.
As far as the eurocode car, I met Dave there and talked to him for a bit, they had a bunch of cars with them, a C63, a golf R , an s7. I saw someone post on APR facebook saying full interior and I can tell you that was not true. I did not see an official post yet though. It was on some type of slicks , no interior, and no mufflers or exhaust could be seen. I don’t really get why they would lie, I think its just a telephone game going around on APR facebook. The C63 almost hit 10’s too… I saw it do 11.0 @ 128.
Yeah good tires is a must… How’d the car feel when you launched? Spin? I run conti dw, but I’d go with mich pss if doing it now…
Post some of those videos please… So slicks, gutted, and no exhaust… .2 better than apr in stellar da, makes sense actually I’d expect better… Sad that’s how they run…
Stage 2 trap 123.13 vs stage 3(gutted, slicks, and no exhaust… Oh and better da) 124.25 interesting…
Interesting. Thanks for the info. I did see a couple people mention the interior was stripped out, but they said that on the record run they put it back in. Sounds pretty far fetched either way. Pretty suspect that once it was out “just to see what it could do” that they would then put it back in, and bam, record pass. Pretty shitty either way with how all this has gone down. I’ve obviously been pretty positive about the prospects for the kit, but it’s hard to stay positive with how they have handled this… and the fact they can’t get it right after 3 months.
Tires? Depends on what you need and how much you want to spend. Most people (including me) would recommend the Michelin PSS for a high performance summer tire. It is reasonably priced, lighter than most tires in the same size, and has awesome performance in temps above 40 degrees and even the rain. It is also the only high performance tire in it’s class with a treadlife warranty (30k). You probably won’t get 30k out of them, but it will get you a deal on your next set (or it did me anyway).
If you are looking for something with higher performance, I like the Bridgestone RE-71, but you won’t get a ton of life out them and they are definitely a summer only type of tire with ok rain performance. If you are looking for something cheaper, I like the Bridgestone S-04. It’s in the same class as the Michelin PSS.
If you buy stage 3 at this point I will have to suggest you go for a sanity check…either that or someone is paying you to install it.
Because this is a full on hail nary run again. They’ve already lied about tires, interior, exhaust. So we can pretty much guarantee they lied about the pulley and tune and ran the little Apr pulley
Also will be interesting to see who lied to richib86 because he was on here saying this car was standard stage 3. So is richi in on this?or is he getting fucked over and lied to as well? He was speaking as if someone gave him that info directly.
All I can say is jhm is going to tear these guys a new asshole and it’s going to be great. I feel like buying a b8 just to run tune intake pulleys lw parts and dance on their fucking grave.
Buy one and get setup… I’d come to Canada for that race ;D
My car won’t see a eaton tvs1.74l blower… All my passes have been and will continue to be on street tires, full exhaust and full interior… Spring can’t come soon enough…
The 1-2 short shift was happening to me as well. So I just need to swap out my tires then? Should i ditch the peelers? What PSI should i run my tires at?
Nah dont have to ditch your stock wheels, just get some new tires. I never let air out of my tires and ran fast times with my 6MT so I can’t comment there. If I were you I would start with tires and see where it takes you. You should have no trouble getting in the 11’s with a DSG and GIAC stage 2.
I guess that’s what that noise was. Helpful danavon7 it looks like Eurocode was trying to cover up what you help tell everyone.
Any idea on what there other runs were.
S04’s are a few lbs heavier at each corner at same size for size. They are damn good tires with much of that weight found in beefy sidewall material. Great turn in response and grip in curves with stiff shoulder. Maybe not best option for straight line 1/4 mile lw performance, but great street tires in my experience. Seems consensus is pss are way to go for best street tire package.
