The reason this thread is separate is because someone made 12 posts ruining the other thread. In fact I would suggest a moderator move ALL of those posts over here to clean up the other thread.
Back to theftmoto… Sorry you’re missing the point.
Your analogous comparison of eBay, audizine, theftmoto and audirevolution is shit. Here’s why.
Audizoo as a site is run by a douchebag who let’s members get fucked by shady advertisers. As long as he gets paid he’s ok. He ironically also allows tuning theft and has said he is OK with it. THAT’S why audizine sucks. Not because of a few bad apples members. It starts at the top and is a core philosophy of audizine that fraud and shady is OK. Owner first, some advertisers a close second, members a distant last.
The theftmoto site ownership said they’re ok with stealing/stolen code and think ‘reverse engineering’ (aka theft everywhere else on earth) is great. They do nothing to members who do so. In fact they ENCOURAGE it.
Conversely, ON the side of actually having integrity :
Audirevolution bans the fuck out of people when they turn out to be scammers or thieves. In fact they don’t get to sign up in most cases. There are no bad apples because they are told to GTFO once identified. Because site ownership has made it clear that this is not ok.
EBay does the same…perpetuate a fraud on eBay or attempt to sell / distribute stolen merch and you will be banned. Starts at the top.
Back to your Apple orchard if there are a few AIDS apples, and the guy who owns the orchard just ignores them and let’s them mix in with the others at harvest (or protects them and ENSURES they get mixed in) , the whole orchard is rotten.
PS if you’ve been helped on theftmoto, sorry but you too are OK with stolen code.
Blocks any reference to a site the allows and promotes unlawful activity (i.e. piracy, stealing tunes, etc.)
Allows posts from users outlining bad experiences with dishonest vendors
Operates without accepting money from paid vendors
Motivation: To promote a healthy and knowledgeable community that puts the end users interest first
Result
Attracts honest technical resources looking to genuinely assist the community
Attracts users looking for honest, unedited, vendor reviews
Discourages fraud
Audizine
Allows dishonest vendors to advertise and operate on their site, despite proof of fraudulent activity. Only catch is that the vendors have to be a paid vendor on AZ for protection
Posts on the forum that expose paid vendor fraudulent activity are often edited or deleted by forum Administrators, at the vendors request.
Takes the vendor protection one step further by blocking any links to sites that allow unedited user experiences to be posted
Motivation: $$$$ for the site owners at the expense of the end user
Result
Attracts dishonest vendors
Protection for the paid vendors - no protection for the unsuspecting forum users and potential customers
Encourages and promotes fraud
There is no legitimate site in the world that could operate without blocking certain content. Any site that does would quickly turn into a cesspool for the most illegal activity you can imagine.
Just because both sites are blocking something, doesnt make it the same at all.
And BTW, I joined the N site a couple years ago, after being encouraged to do so by a person I believed at the time to be trustworthy.
There was no talk of stolen tunes, only the offer of assistance with my A6 4.2, which essentially had the engine converted to a D2 S8, and the transmission converted to 6speed. I figured a stock European S8 6speed file might work, but of course it didnt.
When I asked for help in getting the OEM D2 S8 manual file working, no one really offered anything worthwhile. At the time, there was no code in existence for a 2000 A6 4.2 with the parts that I had. So, there was nothing for them to “reverse engineer” aka steal and distribute.
Soon after, I contacted JHM and they agreed to do a tune for the car. And it wasnt long after that when the first guy came knocking on my door asking for a copy of the JHM tune, so he could “help” me. The JHM tune was the problem he said, and he kindly offered to fix it. I told him “no”, and he kept asking. The answer was still no. If I had said yes, then there would be a stolen JHM 2000 A6 6speed file on that site right now.
Finally, he said “OK”, Ill do a custom tune for you. I said “great” and even sent him an ECU to do the work. After a few days he gave up, and told me to upgrade my car to me7.1.1, because he had a tune for that one.
And that is how the site works. No real technical people, just the guys who con people and steal the tunes and the other guys who receive them. If you ask them for anything outside of something they have stolen, then all you will hear is crickets.
I have Been helped on “theft moto”(clever), but it wasn’t stealing code. It was simple instructions on how to hook up to my Ecu.
Listen I understand that rumors spread like wildfire and all of you guys have HEARD about someone stealing code. But I have actually USED the site, first hand, and received help in the form of instruction. No money, no code, no “send me your tune” nothing, just because I had a question and knew someone on there had done it before.
I’m not arguing that people like Daz Dillinger are trubbble, I’m just saying, there are also good non-aids apples over there
Make up your mind…are you arguing that there are some people who use that site who are honest? Great. Nobody argued against you.
Is the core of that site made up of regular users whose goal is to tune their own car for free using primarily shared/stolen code, and does the site owner know this and promite this? Yes.
I don’t give a fuck about the minority. I care about the core of it, and the core of it is rotten. With teh AIDS.
