If jhm wants to charge triple the oem piece, that’s their right.
If they charge less , that’s great.
Bitching about it is strange. You didn’t have to buy it.
I am still struggling to hear why people are Bitching.
To create this part jhm had to create it, test it (risking an engine in the process), test it some more, produce it , and market it.
If you can find anyone else who is doing this please post their information here. Since you can’t, please step back and ask yourself what the fuck you’re talking about.
Bc I know where your coming from, i agree with you and euro. jhm can charge whatever they want since nobody else has stepped up and tryed to compete with them. I’m very thankful for jhm and the progress they’ve made. but after receiving them in the mail & holding such small piece and realizing you just shelled out 750 is kinda overwhelming. Thats just my opinion. I’ll continue to be a happy camper unless a cheaper alternative pops up lol. Just hope the material used will outlast the original
I think it’s best summed up like. It sucks we have to change these parts. And they are difficult to get to. These aren’t sexy parts they are not performance parts. So for maintenance that’s a lot of money. When you consider the price of a water pump or alternator it’s the same story.
The point here is. Jhm cut the price in 1/2 so now imagine spending twice as much in the same thing. Knowing it’s going to fail. We know the stock guide fails and we know the stock sprockets ware out. Your paying less for the solution 1/2 as much and jhm footed the bill. It’s not just something that’s cheaper it’s something that’s better.
Looking at pieces and trying to understand how much effort goes into them is difficult especially if you never machined something like the sprockets. It’s not just machine is precision machine work. That’s a different ball game. Tolerance gaps take way more time per part and harder materials eat up bits quicker.
Could it be cheaper maybe but it’s stronger and it’s 1/2 price.
It’s always safe for us to say how easy something is when we don’t put up the money or the testing. It’s funny how smart everyone is after someone else figures it out.
I paid for timing components and sprockets before jhm had a kit. So I paid more then you guys did and I have a guide that I know is probably cracking or cracked and I have sprockets that are wareing out. For me I’m passed I have to even change these parts but now I feel way better knowing jhm took the time to make a solution for both the issues and. It’s cheaper.
Cheaper and better usually don’t go together very often. Would I like to see these parts cost less sure but only if it was the same or better quality. I don’t want cheaper I want better.
Back to NastyS4 and his story. Please someone moderator wise clean up this thread.
Out of curiousity who is your trusty mechanic? is it a shop or a friend. I have family in CT, reason why im curious. Only shop i really know of is XLR8.
Haha, good point. You’ll find a ring for $5k and think…damn I can’t even tell its a diamond, her friends will need to be 4" away to see it. Then you spend $10k and realize she is wearing a JHM built motor on her finger…that you can still barely see!!
I’m not trying to get married anytime soon lol. Saki I’m not going to go back & forth about the pricing, I’m over it and looking forward to driving my car again.
How long till you get it back. The excitement factor knowing all the little things are fixed and that you can lean on the car without worrying about a guide breaking is a good feeling.
