New Android Dynavin installed. Wow!

Ok, so I got my Android Dynavin unit installed yesterday and right off the bat, issues and bugs. I was like crap!

Then I updated to the latest Dynavin firmware, bought a small USB passthrough hub and voila!

I now have internet access in my car. I get live weather and news updates, live traffic, email, I can browse the net, I can install new apps of all sorts and I love it.

Only one hiccup at the moment. I need to use my blackberry’s mobile hotspot for internet access (which sucks my blackberry’s battery dry in no time) as my lte/4g usb turbostick isn’t recognized. Supposedly, one guy managed to get his 3G modem to work with a lot of back end tweaking, rooting, and so forth. I’ll have to do a lot more research on that. I’m also waiting for this guy in Switzerland to release his latest rooted firmware which is basically a super nice bundle.

Once Zada-Tech finishes their new android based gauges, I’ll try and have it work via bluetooth and hope I can display the gauges on my android. If that works, I’ll probably also get a bluetooth OBDII dongle and install the Torque app.

So much fun!

Pics! I’d been hassling that Trent guy to email me when those Dynavin Androids got in but he never did. No matter as I went RNSE. But I’ll be very curious to hear more and maybe see some vids of it in action.

Good choice either way, Android is awesome.

nice pics

Obviously, there’s a lot more I can customize, install, etc. And this is only the default firmware that comes from Dynavin. Rooted firmwares have way more complex stuff.

Let me know if you have any questions.

really cool llooking

any neat car nerd stuff? i.e. could you somehow see vagcom type stuff on there?

That’s the intent. I’m thinking of getting an OBD2 bluetooth dongle and buying the Torque app. Many have done it already. Looks cool
Also plan on having my Zada-Tech gauges display on it (also via bluetooth).

Glad to hear you like it. The android version is a MAJOR improvement over the old system I think. I bought and installed the previous dynavin unit, and besides the buttons etc just having a “cheap feel” the integrations and software just wasn’t good by any means, at least not when compared to other $600+ head units.

I’ll be interested to hear your long term review of the unit. You’re coming from the RSN-E correct?

Yes, which I hated.

Any pictures of what it looks like in the dash?

I’ll take some this afternoon when I’ll be in the car.

Well, someone just stole my phone and $250 worth of cash this afternoon so no pics yet. :frowning:

Bummer!! Sorry to hear that.

where’d that happen?

time to move to oakville!

600k houses!! F that! lol

damn sorry to hear someone reverse engineered your stuff

lawl.

Damn . Between parts breaking and now this, I hope all your bad luck has run out by now axel.

It was a blackberry… getting it stolen is actually GOOD luck!!! ;D

Isn’t $250 Canadian like $20 US or something? Lol. (CAD250 = USD255 today)

I don’t understand the hate on blackberries lol. I love mine. It does everything except maybe have a million apps for it but barely download apps anyway so it’s not an issue for me. I hate typing on virtual keyboards.

You could have all that fun everywhere outside the car now! ;D

But on a more serious note, lots of excellent Android hand sets with “hard” keyboards.

Nothing wrong with blackberry except for the constant battery pulls, lack of apps, out dated phones / technology
