Here’s something interesting on the carbon buildup topic:
-gibsonl/daytonaRS4 was complaining a while back that his car was carboned up. He was losing pulls to his friend badblueRS4 (mr. 13.6) whose car was freshly carbon cleaned.
-Then Gibsonl’s dealer did a carbon clean for him, and afterwards he was back to even with badblueRS4. Him and badblue had vicious arguments with me on audiworld about the effects of carbon on performance…they attempted to call me a liar for running 12.9…they again called me a liar when I went 12.75 and claimed I had a ton of mods. Usual noob shit.
-Then gibsonl went to the dragstrip in march and ran 13.10 @ 107.9 in decent conditions at a track that is at 42 feet above sea level. His 60 foot time was 1.97 seconds because he didn’t launch the car ‘hard’ (whatever that means…I guess he launched from low rpms, ensuring a bog), so that explains that. If he’d cut a 1.85 sixty foot time, he’d certainly have been 12.9 @ 108.x
A while after dealing with his dealership on a few things, he found out that they hadn’t actually performed a proper carbon clean on his car. They had just done the injector cleaner etc. nd then lied about it. Pretty incredible. He’ll correct me if I have fucked up the timeline but this shows a couple of things:

Saki, as you well know, every forum has it’s own share of clowns, some more than others. That being said, I try to stay out of the drama and fights. I am here because there is some intelligent discussion here. When people are civil, the discussions very interesting and I enjoy participating in it.
I have made playful jabs at this forum, maybe more in the past before I actually realized there were civil people here, but I respect the people on this forum who stay more or less professional and are able to have an intelligent discussion. My jabs are nowhere near the level of what much of the stuff on here is. Right or wrong, when you call an entire for a failure (QuattroFail), you are going to upset somJe people. Some may come here just trolling for a fight, but that happens the other way as well.
That being said, I don’t want a fight or argument because on the Internet it does nobody any good! If everybody could just leave attitude and egos out of this (myself included) this would be such a great forum.

Look at this forum…you have 400 members, and about 6 of them came from QW. You selling your exhaust, smegma thinking about his mid-life crisis, then these two trolls who polluted this place for the past two days. Add to that mick and zmon and we’re basically at 3 confirmed trolls, two semi-normal guys (mick and zmon) and you. That’s a pretty shit record. Ill just keep reading here then… if i have a question or am confused about something i will ask. otherwise i just read things that pertain to mods i ahve or aspire to have in the future to see what is bieng said about them, as well as things others discover and or talk about the RS4.
I have also never been to the strip, but think i want to try after all of this talk as i sounds like a really fun challenge. just like with the race track, it is so fun because it is so challenging… and i will be sure to keep the slip safe and sound so it can be had by all on the interwebs even if it is terrible. because you know what… i dont know many things i have ever done that i have been a pro at the first time.
Z do whatever you like. The constant trolling is a bit wastefull, but you’re certainly not guilty of any of that.
Just to clarify, this site is not about the quartermile. It’s far more than that, and a quick perusal of some of the technical discussions reveals the performance tuning acumen of many of the members here.
As for the quarter mile, what people on other forums don’t want to understand is that it’s just a nice way to test your acceleration mods. Many of the folks who post here recognize that. Many of the folks who post elsewhere and snicker at the quarter mile are missing out. They almost all have either tunes or downpipes or catback or lw parts etc…all of which are designed to make your car faster as their principal role. Why you would snicker at a test designed to measure how fast your car is, especially when there are mountains of data from other cars that have run the same standardized test…well that just makes no sense.
It’s also a ton of fun. It’s kind of funny that everyone loves doing pulls, but then turns their nose up at the dragstrip. I don’t get it. I went in my B7 S4 for the first time, on my own, on a fall day and had an absolute blast. It was a ton of wicked cars, you could legally take your car up to 200 km/h and adding in the competitive aspect of seeing where your time would end up on the master list was great. Bottom line though? It showed me that my mods were working.
