Buy a JHM kit that has been tested extensively for 2+ years with room to keep improving down the road (ie upgrade internals) while keeping the same blower
or
A round 2 VF kit that is once again being thrown into the market out of thin air, tested solely on one of the most despised s4 owner’s car who is also being paid to promote their product.
GEEEE this is a tough one if I were to buy a s/c system…
With none to limited time testing out all the parts? Must we be reminded all the problems VF kits had prior to switching blowers? Really shows VF quality and thought that goes into their products
I do know they have had it running and testing on the car for the last approx 6 months. Not sure what testing they have done, but they have been working on this for well over a year.
Not everyone is like JHM who secretly test shit for ages before announcing it lol. Most of these companies who are selling empty boxes announce shit as soon as possible to try to freeze market share.
a.k.a. ben’s exhaust. He has been announcing his exhaust for months. Still not for sale. Just serves to lock up quattrofail guys who may have been heading for other options (MTM, JHM etc.). Same with the classic 2 weeks jokes about the old school APR B6 supercharger. Announce before youre ready to stop people buying your competitor’s products, or at least make them second guess them. Vaporware is another term (for this practice when it involves a product that never actually gets produced…like the APR blower).
Saki, the intention is not to prevent people from buying other company’s products (at least for our company). We announced the power figure we made because we were excited about it and wanted to find what customers wanted to see on an exhaust. We have since made revisions to the exhaust to meet those demands, and have refined the exhaust twice to perfect fitment and ease of installation. I have had several people offer to put down deposits on an exhaust and I have told them no because I want to make sure the product is as perfect as we can make it before we offer it for sale. I hope you understand the value of this.
And to be honest, this is sort of the same technique that basically every company (including JHM) uses. They talk about products and offer them for sale as “Beta” products well before they are finished. This is a good thing to help work out the bugs on a product and test on many different cars. They have had their tune in Beta release for a long time, over a year, and flashed it onto many many cars. I doubt this was to prevent people from going to other companies.
I could really care less what happens with VF, I don’t own a S4, nor do I plan on Supercharging my car anytime in the near future. I want to max it out NA first, then possibly consider going forced induction. The only reason I posted about the kit was because I was very impressed with how the car performed. Is it the best? Who knows, only testing will tell, but it performed quite well for how I was driving and I was very impressed with the quality of the kit.
Working on it on a single car for over a year yet they pay this guy to say positive things about their company and products? Sounds pretty fishy to me yet again. Cant wait to see some actual track times, maybe even a run vs a jhm supercharged car. Doubt that will happen for quite some time. ngng has to build up his confidence on the forums by letting everyone know that hes a super duper professional track driver with a car that could potentially break the speed of light. Wouldnt be surprised if he dynos at 600whp this time LOL
Great example…so make sure you go back and dyno again since you’re selling this revised exhaust and not the old one. A.k.a. Your first dyno figures are now useless…as that exhaust will never be sold. A.k.a. Now you know why its useless to show dyno figures during development.
So why dd you post it on quattrofail RS4 section? Its an S4 kit not RS4.
I know your good buddy ngng’s car wears an rs4 costume but its not an RS4.
Only changes made to the exhaust were some added brackets to help mounting and alignment and the a change of the first 1/2" of the exhaust where it comes out of the headers. We made it a little straighter to help with installation (so you can use a socket easily on it). While I doubt these will make any changes to the performance, we will be lending the prototype exhaust to a potential customer who will be doing several dynos at 034. He has a bone stock RS4 (The yellow one from JHM’s Open House pics), his only mod is resonator deletes, so we will be adding my stock exhaust on first. Anyways, he will be doing a dyno pre carbon clean, post carbon clean, then post carbon clean with our exhaust to show the exact gains of our setup over stock on a clean car. The last two dynos will be done on the same day with the closest conditions possible. I am interested to see the results.
As for Ng’s car, only reason I posted it there is that is where he, along with most of the active members who would care, frequent. The S4 section is kind of dead. I know his car isn’t a RS, it is a little weird to know that when looking at it though.
Will be interesting to see how your re-testing goes. What is the forum username of the person getting the exhaust on the yellow car? will he be getting a deal on it?
What do you plan to charge for the exhaust anyway? What cats are you going to use? Got any sound clips yet?
The owner’s name is Denis, not sure of his forum name. I know he posts on Audizine and sometimes on QuattroWorld. He won’t be getting any sort of special pricing on the exhaust. We haven’t decided on pricing yet, though it will likely be in the same range as the JHM setup depending on options. As for cats, we are not decided yet. We may go with the 250 cell cats from 034Motorsports. According to their owner they have a failure rate of ~0.5% which is pretty good for any aftermarket product.
I have a couple sound clips, I’ll upload them and put together a video when I get home. Pics of the exhaust will be released when we have the final ones finished. The sections will all be CNC mandrel bent. All of the connections are 2.75" v-bands (pain in the ass to find a supplier), and the flex joints are 3" (compared to 2.5 on the JHM setup). We couldn’t find a supplier for high quality 70mm flex joints, so we used 3" ones which shouldn’t cause any problems.
Saki…the exhaust sounds really good. Who knows after your hear the videos/see the finished product/and see proven gains on the dyno…maybe you will buy an EBWerks exhaust?
