New Dyno Sheets for sale for the RS4 - Bren Tuning

Hmmm, I’m not sure how anyone who’s been around the online Audi forums for the past 1-2 years doesn’t know about PES/VF selling their underpowered supercharger kits that barely make any power although they had “dyno” numbers claiming they did (basically, artificially inflated numbers that didn’t match up on the pavement).
If you have time, you should look it up. They were selling the kits for over $10k I believe. So when someone pays that much money, etc. only to discover it’s crap, that’s not good. To make matters worse, the tunes provided seemed to be flawed as well and a bunch of motors crapped out. So $10k+broken motor. Nice. Again, for someone that seems to be involved quite a bit with the online audi community, I’m surprised you’ve never heard of it.

Seriously? Were you there with him during that one week he drove 1000 city miles before heading to the track? He posted everything online and it’s all still there. Firstly, who needs to ask what a city mile is? Secondly, who drives 1000 city miles in a week? Thirdly, who goes to the track JUST after breaking in a new clutch without giving any kind of buffer/safety room? And finally, he even said the Audi dealership was absolute crap, that they kept telling him there was nothing wrong with the clutch when there obviously was and that he would never go back to them ever again. Again, it’s all still online for everyone to read!!! I can’t believe you’re still defending him.

Maybe because he read what he actually wrote on the forum? And anyone that knows how to read a manufacturor’s break-in instructions should be able to comment. Instructions clearly say “city miles”. He does a 1000 in a week and you were there with him every mile of the way? I see. And this is from someone who had to ask what a city mile is (gibson, not you).

Again, I don’t understand why you’re still defending him. Is it because you’ve dug yourself in so deep that you’d feel embarassed if you changed your story? Trust me, you’re embarassing yourself more (at least on this forum) by sticking to your story which doesn’t hold up due to the still readable posts made by gibson.

Seriously? That’s your kind of argument? Do you mind if I ask how old you are? I’m actually curious.

Axel pretty much summed up what everyone on here and every other audi enthusiest that peruses QW already knew. How did you not see Gibson’s posts about his plan to break in his new clutch on QW?? I stayed out of the whole pissing match prior but this last part (regarding the clutch) was just plain backwards. It’s all in black and white and clear. Just say’n.

Anyway - are you going to fugg’n share details regarding your tune or what? Do you know anything specific about the tune?? Was this a shot in the dark type of purchase? Jesus man, we’re not all about “gossiping like ladies” and we’re definitely not into keeping secrets like school girls either…in case you haven’t noticed yet. What’s the deal???

I’ll stay away from Gibson’s issue since bottomline, JHM did send him a replacement, so to me it says that the product failed.

As far as PES S/C issue, I have heard that it doesn’t put out as much power as others. As far as it blowing motors? Aren’t there forum members that said JHM blew their motor? I mean there are so many variables to stuff like that. I try not to feed into once or twice incidences when I make my mind up about any product. I will do some research to understand it more when I have some time. However, for example if the PES sales person was on a forum advertising this same S/C today, Sure I would ask for warranty information regarding their S/C, if I was at all considering buying their product. I wouldn’t attack the person, or be extremely rude. It’s almost like when people are online, they take on this alias personality that they know if they were in a store, they wouldn’t act like. I just think its very rude and immature. (I’m 31 btw) idk but doesn’t APR provide a 1 year warranty on their S/C?

As far as my tune, thanks NY07RS4 for asking. I was searching and searching after seeing that APR didn’t provide an aggressive tune, and JHM was taking too long for their tune. EPL and GIAC were the only 2 left that I would consider. The local shop that I have been going to in ATL is a GIAC dealer. I asked my shop owner about GIAC’s tune and he highly recommended GIAC from a tuning company perspective. He mentioned that the owner himself comes into their shop and how great of a guy he is and that he still tunes cars himself after ~15 years. So I really considered GIAC’s tune. However, looking at their Dyno sheets, and asking others who had their tune for RS4 didn’t seem too impressive from a gain perspective. As we all know, there isn’t that much to gain from NA tunes in the first place. I knew that I didn’t want to get a tune that was too aggressive that may cause pinging or anything else that we have heard from “too” aggressive tunes before. Somehow after searching on youtube videos one night, I stumbled upon a RS4 tune by OE tuning that was done by one of their dealers Bren tuning in the NE. I called them and asked if they had a tuner in Atlanta, they said yes and gave me the phone number to OE tuning in California. I spoke to the owner probably about 5x before finally making my decision. He seemed very knowledgeable about Audi’s and especially the RS4 and R8’s. He said his friend came to him a long time ago with his RS4 asking him to do a tune as he wasn’t satisfied with what was on the market from the other tuners. So they looked at our motor and saw that most of the tuners missed out on some of the gains that could be made from our motor while still leaving the engine very safe and not effected by pinging or anything like that. He sent me the air:fuel ratios which I think is one of their key differences. I think most other tuners keep a consistent air:fuel ratio across the entire power band. OE’s is changing and kind of follows our dyno graph and matches our engine output. I also liked the fact that they would customize my map once I add more mod’s such as (exhaust, downpipes etc) Right now my tune is pretty conservative in comparison to when I add these other mods. I checked with other members to make sure my tune air:fuel ratios were not too aggressive, and they weren’t. Honestly with the videos I had seen on the dyno., I couldn’t argue with the solid delta vs the other tuning companies I had seen for our car. There was a lot more power to be had from the lower rpm range which is what I really wanted. I also asked if they removed the obvious torque limiters and throttle plate limiter as well as top speed limiter. The owner seemed very knowledgeable about RS4’s and said himself that we’ve never seen another tune put out as much power on the R8 or RS4 as their tune with zero problems to date. I searched the internet and didn’t find any bad news from any other customers. So I went for it, knowing that they had a full money back guarantee and they do re-flashes for free, if I need to go in for service. Also, they are coming out with a handheld that I can do my own switching similar to the tuners for BMW and Merc. I like that. Being able to hold about 5 maps on the handheld and you can switch your car back to stock and really notice the performance gain. Or change it up to race gas when you choose to.

I noticed the power difference right away. A friend did pulls with me in a 335ix where he swears with his JB tune, piggies, intake and some other stuff as well as a new map for 85 octane, he thinks he is putting down 400AWHP. (I’m pretty sure he never dyno’ed that, he just calculates it in his mind lol. I think maybe he’s putting down 360 AWHP or so) I killed him from a dig, and from a roll we were pretty even. I also had another person in my car. I even started to pull away on a few pulls. He is manual as well. Also, Gibson and I did pulls and I pulled away. I also did some pulls with a manual V8 M3 and pulled away. You feel a lot more power down low (before 5500 rpm’s) and its even all the way up. It’s very smooth but yet much more responsive and when you hit the S button it gets even more responsive. I feel that gas mileage is a little better as well. It’s way too hot and humid down here to hit a dyno or a dragstrip. But I will do them both in the fall. I will also do it before and after carbon clean to see the difference.

BenSTI doesn’t count as an AR forum member, nice try though.

Why are you over here again? If you have this tune then back it up with some good info for us, or track times, prove to the site that they have a legit product, then maybe people will listen instead of bash you. I completely understand that 1/4 mile runs are pointless right now, but when it cools down you better show some form of performance comparison otherwise all of your dynographs, A/F ratios, and confidence in OE tuning means nothing just like your comparison to a buddies car who “thinks” he has 400AWHP. Does he have a 1/4mile time? something to base your power difference on? Did you guys ever do any pulls when you were stock?

Ummm who cares if anyone is a AR forum member?..and I wasn’t referring to BenSti. Any forum member of any site that has “blown an engine” due to some part or product.

As far as my tune, listen I have nothing to prove to this forum. “Why am I here again?” Maybe you didn’t read earlier, this was about clearing up Bob talking about what tune I have and starting a whole misleading thread about it. You can get whatever tune you want and run whatever tests you want. I have done pulls with gibson’s RS4 when I was stock and also other RS4’s, that’s what I was referring to. There is a clear gain with this tune. But do whatever you want to do. I am very happy with it, and I am not a sales person for this tune, so there is no interest to me in “proving” anything to anyone LOL and also no one is “bashing” me here. That’s just the continuous tone of this forum.

Name one other person that claims JHM was the cause of their engine being blown?

Anyways…I just want to see what your proof of it being a good tune is, you came here to clear things up and talk about how happy you are with it, but just like every other non-JHM tuned car you won’t go put it to the test. Just like every S4 guy with UNI and APR tunes…they love their tunes, and the car feels so much faster, but they won’t throw down a 1/4mile time so I guess it’s just all about personal happiness…not about true performance gains.

I personally could never modify my car and not see proof in my gains by some type of measurement. I did 1/4mile runs and dynos to establish the gains. Not only can I prove to other people the performance of my car, but I am also happy with my choices and confident in my tune, and I can offer a truthful opinion and recommendation if people are interested.

Who’s Bob??

16 years in driving audi cars and seeing one fail boat after another This statment sums up what A joke this post is.
However, looking at their Dyno sheets,
LOL Dyno… Going to a shop that wants your money and owns the test tool that your going to gauge your results on and thinking that your going to be getting hoenst results are a joke.

While I don’t know the guy that got this Bren tunen. I can tell you this. Everyone that spends that kind of money is going to tell you there happy. Everyone that got the PES supercharger said they were happy till they sold it and said it sucked. PEople like this guy that got the tune have to say how great it is so they don’t have to feel stupid. They wont go do a real test cause then there going to get shown a fool.

This isn’t the first time someone like this has poped in. He will go on and on about the tune cause let be honest when this tune is shown to be a fail like all the others he is going to look like the biggest fool. We have all seen this before nothing new.

Funny how people still speculate about why the fw failed. If it was my fault
JHM would have come out and said so and not sent me a new one and refused to answer my
emails when I repeatedly ask them for the results of the machine shops inspection. That case is
closed.
It’s stupid to go to a drag strip or dyno during the summer when our baseline
dyno’s and drag strip runs were in 50-60 degree weather so stop asking
him to “prove it” at a time of year that it can’t be proven. Unless of course
you all are too dumb to realize that our car put out substantially less
power in 80-90 degree weather than 50-60.

Jabroni+Badbluers4 went to the drag strip in 90 degree heat t Atlanta raceway so there goes that excuse

Anyway his times were never verified because he claimed his timeslips blew out the window

Further he is almost as bad a driver as his favorite buddy Mick, so again his times are pretty much useless all around.

I’m not sure if you can read, but I said I understand completely about the damn track or dyno “proof” right now, I live in NC and I know just how hot it is down South. Do you think I dynoed or ran the 1/4 mile in my car in July or August, hell no it’s pointless. I appreciate you thinking that I am dumb though, but becoming the 3rd fastest all motor S4, and fastest all motor B7 S4 wasn’t accomplished by making “dumb” decisions. What info have you provided to the RS4 world Gibson? The definition of a city mile?

Well maybe my comment wasn’t directed at you. You like driving fast in a straight line. I think it’s pretty cool that it excites you. Just not my cup of tea but everyone is free to choose the type of racing that excites them most. Since you know so much, what’s the 1st tell that a clutch/fw isn’t broken in properly? … Hmmmm, I think you would look at the clutch wear bc if improperly broken in the wear on the clutch will tell the story. Since my clutch liner was fine then that pretty much puts that to rest so stop talking about it. The shop that took apart the fw said it was warped in their opinion. It was not the same shop that did the install. Secondly, I benefit in no way by the fw being a manufacturers defect. As a matter of fact I financially benefit if it turned out that the install was the issue bc then I could get reimbursed for the install as opposed to if the fw failed I’m stuck with the bill for 2 installs. So no, I wasn’t passionately looking for a way to blame JHM. I was actually hoping for the opposite. It’s not like I was out there for a day beating on the track. In the first warmup lap I noticed the shuddering.

this post above is a joke. You can’t warp a pressure plate its fucking bolted on all sides to a flat serface. The 1st sighn the clutch isn’t broken in properly is that it isn’t working after 1200 miles. These clutches are self adjusters and when you get a agressive clutch like what JHM sales you need to knopw how to drive a car manual to be honest most people don’t know how to drive a manual and they slip the clutch or don’t know how to wait for engaugement.

Fact of the matter is more people don’t benifit from a failed part but most people like you benifit from not taking responcibilty for it.

A clutch is a simple unit and its predictible in how it can break or fail. first line is the improper install then improper break in and last in not knowing now to drive a manual trans…

So he is claiming the flywheel was warped…but has yet to say ANYTHING about 034, who manufacturers the flywheel lol. Instead he just trashes JHM at every opportunity…even though JHM sent him a new 034 flywheel when he returned the one he claimed was ‘warped’.

When 034 motorsports heard about this online, they posted that it was impossible to have been delivered a warped flywheel, and when they tried to engage him in the discussion, daytonaRS4/gibsonl went real quiet…and just hid from the discussion.

He keeps asking for them to do analysis of the parts he sent back, but once JHM and 034 saw that gibsonl was trashing them on 4 different Audi forums, is it really any surprise that they’re not getting back to him? Rather than wait for results, he came out guns blazing blaming JHM. I guess he learned this from his buddy Mick who did this with

a) his shifter - installer fucked it up, charged him $1000, and then didn’t install it. Then mick went mental, trashing JHM. Then he realised his installer fucked up and apologized to JHM
b) clutch/flywheel - same thing, same installer…fucked it up and couldn’t get it done, then complained to mick who went mental, trashing JHM on the forums. Then JHM straightened out the installer with what he needed to do and the part went on fine. Mick then sent/posted multiple emails/posts about how his clutch was great etc. (20,000 miles and multiple track days and launches, no problems) and he apologized to JHM. Fast forward to now after he is backing ebwerks who are competing with/copying JHM products…and suddenly now that Mick’s transmission has been removed 2 times by a dealer and reinstalled he is quite suddenly having clutch problems. So he blows up at JHM. The fact his clutch survived his HORRIFIC driving for 2 years is incredible. He stalled the car multiple times at the dragstrip when trying to launch it lol. Is this someone we really want to trust with a clutch evaluation???
c) tune - mick was logging his car in his driveway, in neutral, and revved the engine while checking AFR. He noticed it spiked super lean, then went on a crusade on multiple forums begging people to explain ‘WHY WOULD JHM DO THIS TO ME??’ wondering why they tuned his car superlean. Fact? EVen a stock car will spike lean when you rev it with no load…it cuts off the injectors momentarily, and then AFR takes a fraction of a second to adjust. I logged this in my bone stock car and posted a comparison to show mick his ridiculous claims were just standard mick bullshit.

Shoot first, ask questions later - then complain the company won’t get back to you after you have trashed them and thrown them under the bus. That’s the quattrofail way.

. He is wondering why they won’t get back to him with an analysis of the part he returned? LOL! They would probably love to get back the brand new flywheel they sent him and tell him to find another clutch company to complain about.

ChrisK, every car I have owned in my life is a manual trans. This is not my first lw
setup either so u can save the bs about me not knowing how to drive. To further move
my point you can choose any race track on the east coast. I will show up and
thoroughly whup ur ass to show u just how good of a driver I am. 034 does not take
Responsibility for the part. As a matter of fact, if u call them they don’t even want any
Part of the association with the part. JHM designed it so it it’s fault it’s on them.
Saki, ur too dumb for even to respond to u so I don’t know why I bothered. The only
reason JHM sent the part is bc I went to the forums. Before that I spent 2 weeks getting 1
Bullshit excuse after another from them. They told me it would take 24 hours to inspect
the fw and have it back in the mail. After 2 weeks a person should get pretty pissed!
Sending me a new part without me knowing why the first one failed is useless. Numerous
People who road race their RS4 have had failures with this setup which is why I
Requested that they figure out whether the part failed or it was the install. Of course after the
Whole fiasco they told me they would send me a written response of they
Determined the fw was fine, which would therefore mean a faulty install. I don’t even
know of its been 3 or 4 months now. But the answer is pretty obvious to me. If you
road race ur RS4 don’t put the JHM setup in ur car. If u just drive on the street
or drag race it’s probably fine.

It sucks for you guys. I thought only the B5 had guys like this. sheesh :stuck_out_tongue:

I think most level headed people can read this and tell that daytonaRS4 is the real issue here. I got the JHM unit for my B5 and its beyond a solid piece. You can’t warp a PP or a flywheel unless it’s install wrong and I cant see Daytona driving any better then his net skills are. So there is a failure right there.

Ive been to plenty of track days with people like Daytona that think they drive great but when they come into the pits there car reeks of clutch. Everyone thinks they are a race car driver. Thinking and being are TWO completely different things.

And my clutch was fine so you may want to read posts a little better before responding. Thanks!

Haha, more clowns who talk trash. I invited any takers to show up to NJMP
in June and no one came so there’s nothing else to be said. I’ll be at VIR in
Nov. I would certainly welcome ur attendance. There are a lot or people who
Talk crap and and can’t back it up, I’m not one of them.

And the calling out by road race superstar begins…

I showed up so cut the drama. Any one of the clown crew coulda shown up and “shut me
Up”. No one did so live with it!
