Its a Audi RTV type of sealent no gaskets.
Check your oil drain plug and your valve cover gaskets. They are the major sorce of issues.
The lower oil pan could be an issue but its not very common
The valve covers looked fine when I had the intake off so I don’t think it is them. I suck my oil out of the dip stick so haven’t ever had the drain plug out but will check that.
The oil from the valve covers generally runs down the side of the block on the outside. The removal of the intake wont show you much in that.
The pcv system can also be leaky enough to cause issues there too. Check the drain plug. Its something that can happen over time
So i now havea purge valve check engine light on and a high pitched squeal coming from the valve. Does that mean my valve is bad?

You have 5 codes for the control valve. That isnt a good sign. That and the symptoms your having seem to all point to the same thing.
Well it seemed to have fixed itself. No engine light or squeal so I’ll keep an eye on it but right now all good
might have been just cold temps and the valve sticking
was curious on when someone should replace the fuel filter. Looking online they as relatively cheap and easy to replace. I’m at 95k and don’t know if it had ever been replaced.
You should replace it. I do mine roughly every 50k miles.
The maintenance cycle we used to try to follow was every 30k miles for fuel filter, 15k for spark plugs, 50k for coil packs, 5k for oil/filter, 5k for air filter. Or thereabouts.
The way I see it following the audi cycle for example you do plugs every 50k miles or so. That’s every 3-4 years. If you do it every year over the course of 4 years you’ve added $400.
Fuel filter every 2 years you add 200 over 4 years (I think audi has it lifetime???)
Oil every 5k vs 10k adds about $400 over 4 years
Doing coils every 50k (audi says lifetime) adds 200 every 4 years.
After 4 years and 50,000 miles or so you’ve added a total of $1200
$300/year is the difference for always tip top engine maintenance. That’s peanuts. We are talking about cars that were $50,000 to $80,000 when new.
I work under the rule. If you dont know when it was last replaced its best to replace it. given its not too much money and its not too hard to replace. It is a good thing to do.

does anyone have any issues with their backup camera? Mine seems to be hit or miss on when it wants to turn on. It has been about 0° out lately. I know I need to scan to see if any codes come up but none did before.

Here is my scan: I cleared them and rescanned. All that came back was the navigation malfunction. I didn’t drive the car around so tomorrow I’ll see if the others come back.

You can see there is a malfunction in the system. It dosent seem to link or show anything specific on the fault. The code looks like a general malfunction. You said it will work some times and not others is that right
Yes that is correct. Yesterday it worked in the morning then decided to not work anymore. Today it has been fine.
To troubble shoot this. keep an eye on the temp and how long you key the car up for before starting. Dont just get into the car and start it up. Get in hit the start butting to wake the car up but dont start it till the gauges WOW after that start it up and see if that helps the amount of times the system works
So I’ve noticed that it doesn’t like being put into reverse without all the gadgets being warned up. It is going to be around 0°F this weekend so I’ll keep an eye out and rescan as it had done it but not as frequent.
I put in led license plate lights from ecs.

Output is a huge difference and I’m happy with them.
I also ordered stainless steel screws as the oem ones suckand strip all the time.
