New mod and drag

I installed the light weight battery myself. Painful project.
For those that attack this themselves good luck and be very patient so u don’t break interior parts.
Thanks to Jake from JHM for getting me some good picks of a light weight battery already installed.
Made it simple.

Now for the track it’s an 1/8 mile at the Qualcomm stadium (Chargers).
The event is Race Legal.
And if u are dedicated to racing u could race over 10 times throughout the night but I only got 4.
My car has all JHMs mods. And full interior
My car has issues though from my side. I installed most of my mods including the SC.
I keep getting a MAF code replaced it but the code comes and goes. Decided to race anyways.
Best time was 8.485. I smoked a challenger, charger and g35.

By the end of the night/early morning the car was smoking. Smelt like burning plastic. It will be another project to take the front end off after I just got done with some other issues.

Not bad

That’s like 13.1@106

Very clean installation. The factory battery is incredibly heavy. Was there any weight savings by doing this?

Was just about to respond with the same answer lol.

Nice man. It is good to see someone else getting out there too.

What rpm were you leaving at? I would try launching around 1900-2100 rpms.

[quote=“JHM’s website”]FEATURES:

  • Weight savings of up to 27 pounds.
  • Better front to rear weight distribution for increased handling performance
  • Purchasing this kit gets you one of the key components of the Air to Water Intercooler Kit required in our Supercharger Kits allowing for easier upgrading in the future.

Thanks guys.
Is that really good? For sc and headers and everything else?
I feel as if my car is slower than when I went for a test ride in the JHM shop car.
I have been having a few issues. Might have to take the car up to them and have them go over it.

The car is fast and I was getting a lot of compliments from people watching

Idk wat I was launching at but I was definitely getting off the line. But it could be better. I will try launching at a lower rpm.

It’s not really good at all. I’ll be honest with you.

Go out and try to get some logs, you have an issue somewhere, which I think you already know.

The compliments were because your car probably sounds really fast, lol.

I’ve done logs JHM didn’t see anything wrong.
I’m going to re flash the car with better internet connection. I’m afraid something went wrong when I flashed it.
And I will get another MAF.
After that idk what to do. JHM will have to take over then.
Which won’t bother me as long as they take me out in a stage 2 car lol.

The car was pretty quick compared to most of the street cars out there.

Bad MAF can cause you a lot of drama. And also, a bad MAF code doesn’t always mean a bad MAF. Ground issue or electrical gremlins can cause it from time to time as well. But buying a new MAF is the cheapest and easiest way to start. Also make sure it’s facing the right direction (sound stupid, but check).

I bought a new MAF already awhile ago.
Still got the issue.
Cleaned up a bad ground.
But issue is still there.

So my next idea is the new MAF went bad because of the bad ground.
And I’m going to reflash the car.
The maf is facing the right direction.

PM me the codes you’re getting. We can figure out what’s going on. JimmyB can tell you, he had a few small issues and was getting the same times you were with about the same modifications. After a few adjustments and a little seat time, he took off almost .8tenths and added 7mph. The tune is built to be safe, sounds like from what your mentioning that you’re in safe mode.

I will get back to you later tonight with the exact codes.

You are not going to break records during the summer, even the end of summer. The car gets too damn hot.

After a little checking around I found that Qualcomm stadium elevation is around 75 feet, the weather channel shows temps around 72 degrees around 11 PM with around 79% humidity, and the barometric pressure was around 29.91 inches Hg. So according to dragtimes that would make the DA around 1218 feet. That is not ideal for running really good times. I would wait until you get better weather like sub 55 degrees.

Did you do any cool down with ice or a fan before running? I found that it takes at least forty five minutes to a hour of cool down with ice on top of the intake manifold and SC to the most power out of the tune.

After looking through your slips, your 60 feet times are mostly in the high 1.8 to 2.0 seconds range so I am assuming that you are probably spinning badly off the start. The first 60 feet is vital with these cars. They leap off the line if done correctly. Make sure that you shallow stage, then rev the engine up to around 1900-2100 rpms, double check the lights are going down, and release the clutch when the light turns green. You are not trying to beat the other car but rather get a good time.

You may also want to pull your spark plugs to check for oil buildup and to check the spark plug gap. Every spark plug that I have gotten for my car had the wrong gap. It should be 0.028. I use the cheap half dollar sized wheel tool and a pick to get the gap set correctly.

If you are getting this code this I wouldn’t worry about it:
16490 - Manifold / Barometric Pressure Sensor (G71) / (F96)
P0106 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

Madison got that code too and it has never been an issue.

There’s no pits or anything and I have an hour drive between the track and my house but I let the car cool and I’m not running every 10 min. My times were fairly consistent.

I get p0101

Next time I take the s4 I will launch at lower rpm. I was getting some good tire spin.
As for the weather can’t do anything about it. So I guess just for practice right now.
I cleaned up my spark plugs before I went.
What plugs do u have?
The ones I got were the Bosch pre gap 3 prong from JHM with their sc kit.

I did disconnect my battery to get the car to stop tripping out. That is y I got the p1602
But the p0101 keeps coming and going.

Well nevermind I just got p1602 again after I cleared it.
This is going to be fun lol

Alternator may be bad. That may be the reason y it was smoking and the bad smell.
