Both the dogs and the car up dates look great.
Thank you, i have really been enjoying the time with both the dogs. We didn’t expect Kaiden to be around this long which has made training Artoo easier. A side benefit is that Artoo has been picking up on some of Kaiden’s attributes.
Got the rotors/calipers finally done. Both the rear mid- brake lines stripped while swapping in the new lines, so I ended getting preflared 8" sections at the local brake parts supply and making that fit after unsuccessfully flaring my own lines. It came out really subtle.
Artoo also won his breed and 3rd in the Working Class Overall at the Dixon Show this weekend, next up is the Napa show.

Kaiden Nico Harris succumbed to cancer Thursday, November 18 @ 2:58pm, I miss that guy so much. The crazy part, my wife who, according to multiple doctors is not able to have children, was informed that she is pregnant on November 22. Quite crazy how things work, so in honor of Kaiden doing the heavenly things he does, we are naming the child Nico, boy or girl. The puppy, Artoo is huge, 110 pounds at 6 months. Additionally, our breeder asked if we would be interested in homing her currently Mastiff female as she will only do 2 litters per female before fixing them, her name is Lilo and she is a reverse brindle. She is also Artoo’s aunt by bloodline
On the car front, I have been a little depressed so the car took a backseat, but I am starting to feel the desire to be in the garage again. Engine and heads are still collecting dust, but I decided get my feet wet by installing one of the Andriod Chinese Dual Din Headunits. The reviews seem pretty positive and the biggest complaint being the instruction manual is terrible. If it works out, amazing, if it doesn’t, no biggie, as I need to do some rewiring to my stereo system as I ran the wires for the sub under the rear seltbelt which then wedged the belt to the rear deck lid after everything was put back together. Also when I did the wiring, I had not done any of my electrical classes and I ran a really long ground wire for the amp’s, I sure contributing to a feedback that can be heard occasionally.

A little bit of sad but a lot of hope and excitment in that update.
Thanks for sharing. For those of us who are dog lovers and owners its so hard to have a dog pass on. Its trully a member of the family. but with news of a growing family that is exciting
The possibly better news is that you might have to sell the B5 and get an adult V8 S4 or RS4. LOL just having fun with you. Excitingly following along.
Thanks Justincredible, lots of excitement for sure. I really don’t want to sell any of the cars at this point, I love my AMG and the B5 is a fun project car, so we are looking to add to the stable, which we have been checking out the B8 Allroad. Not the fastest car, but in all reality, the wife will be the one driving it. I will keep posting updates.
Very exciting news on your new addition. World soon to be turned upside down. Just kidding. Congrats to you and yours!
Lol, my dad is pretty sure that I m about to get paid back for my wild youth and young adulthood.
Paybacks a bitch…lol. In 100% honesty, I am not a father largely in part to that fear of karma biting me in ass. Had my fair share of “fun” in my day. Lol
Sorry for your loss - losing a pet is really tough.
Congrats on the soon-to-be addition to your family. If you thought chasing a puppy (even a big one) around was taxing, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet…
Best try to finish the new motor swap before the wife’s due date - otherwise it may not get done for a few years…
^On top of all of this, I agreed to finish the floors when I finish the motor, and i cant have a baby around a bare floor or engine parts/chemicals, lol, so many projects with so little time.
Hello Gents, just getting back into my bigger projects after a small break. Picked up this lift for my garage to help assist with these large projects, so I will begin my updating process again, sorry for the long delay.

;D Your dogs look beautiful and happy and your projects are inspiring. Keep up the great work here.
Thank you very much. Its funny, because Happy told me that my life would be turned upside down, a few responses ago (from 2016), boy did I under estimate that statement…
That’s awesome. Can you tell us more about the lift. How much was it how much can it lift. It looks like each tower is independent of eachother. Hydrolic or electronic.
Hi Justincredible, the lift is a Danmar midlift, which has up to 48" of lift (with 3" riser pads other 45" with normal riser pads). The lift anchors with wedge bolt in anchors, so instead of having a stud stick up and tightening with a nut, you use a bolt to screw into the wedge anchors. This allows the floor to stay usable when you move the 2 posts out of the way when you are not using it, which was probably the biggest selling point for me. Cost was a little over $2k with about a 6 week lead time.
I like that idea its really smart. I did a quick search. This is all I found so far. Its a different lift.

I see Danmar makes it a little difficult to navigate their site. https://dannmar.com/car-lifts/two-post-lifts/m-6.html
Thanks for the link. I looked but didn’t see that until you posted the link. I’m sorry for bumping you off track with your thread. Excited to see more. If you want I would love to see and hear more of your thoughts on the lift as well. very interested.
This build post is more of a journal for myself then an actual post, so you can’t bump it off track, it goes wherever the topic goes, so ask questions away. I will take more pictures soon. The technical specs summarized, the concrete floor needs to be more than 4" thick (preferably 5") and at least 4,000psi for the wedge anchors to properly bite into the cement. My floor measured in right around 3" thick, so as you can see from the pictures I cut 3’x3’ squares in the cement then dug down 28", added about 4" of base gravel, then used rebar footings to elevate the bottom rebar 6" off the ground, drilled into the existing floor 8" sideways and pounded more rebar in, poured in “5 bag cement” from the local industrial concrete supplier (~12,000psi concrete) and let it cure for 34 days before drilling in the wedge anchors. The height is perfect (at least for me) for a seated creeper and to this point, I have pulled a cylinder head from a Mini Cooper, a transmission out of a 3 series BMW, my S class Mercedes (routine servicing). To help pay for my RS4 parts, I bought a 2008 M5 from a customer that was having VANOS issues (which is typical when the connecting rod bearings start to wear) for really cheap, so I am going to be pulling the oil pan and then the bearings then flipping it. The lift has a 6,000lb limit and with the ~24" of reinforced concrete, I have no issue getting close to that limit.
The M5, 84,000 miles
