SO today a group of us set off for Toronto Motorsports Park. It was myself, Mistro (B7 Rs4 JHM bolt ons) and Cory_CanB8Avant (not sure his exact username because he has a couple…and he has a K04 B8 A4 2.0T). Axel was due to meet us later in the day.
The weather was nice and sunny, and the predictions were for a high of about 12 Celsius (that’s around 55 F for you stone agers). There was a forecast headwind for the track’s location but we didn’t mind and set off for Cayuga.
After arriving we were again (like last week) pleasantly shocked to see that it was dead. Maybe 2 cars had gone through tech before us, and 3 Lexus IS-Fs arrived shortly after we did. Throw in a handful of others, and it was again like a private track rental with all-you-can-eat passes.
After getting my go pro sorted out, we started making passes. My car which went 12.53 @ 110.5 last week was pretty steadily in the 12.6 @ 109.5 range for the first couple of hours. Mistro was around 12.3 @ 112 so that was promising. We must have made 10 passes at these levels. The DA was better than last week by about 1000 feet but whereas last week was calm, this week we had about 20 MPH right in our face. At least it was a cold breeze. We joked it would be ram-air rather than a detraction. Unfortunately the headwind appears to have eaten up whatever DA improvement there was from last week, so times would be similar from the looks of things.
I left early, and on the way home counted my slips. 18 of them. I made 18 passes in about 3 hrs time. Could have made 28. The car didn’t get any slower all day, even after 5-6 in a row. I will post the times of my runs later. It’s nuts. Basically every 3 minutes for 5-6 in a row, then a break to give the clutch a rest.
As the day wore on we steadily improved, and pretty soon I was back in the 12.5 range @ 110, and Mistro was threatening to become the fastest normally aspirated RS4 ever. The record is held by AR user jnaut, who went 12.26 @ 112 on race gas with his interior primarily removed and a race seat for the driver. The street trim record is held by AR user 2000s4 who went 12.28 @ 112.45 back in 2011 with JHM fin, full exhaust, clutch, rotors. Basically same as mistrial but 2000s4 was catless downpipes whereas mistro has his cats in
Here’s a pass against Mistro. He’s Phantom Black in the left lane. I’m Avus Silver (camera car) in the right.
12.34 @ 112.76 for Mistro and 12.56 @ 109.58 for me. Notice how I get the jump and he just steadily reels me in? On ET+RT I only actually won that by 0.01 seconds. I got out 0.24 on reaction, and picked up another 0.06 in the first 60’. Then you can see I pull ahead on my 1-2 being a bit quicker so I am over 0.30 ahead of him. Right around when I change into 3rd gear which is 70mph, he just starts pulling hard right through the finish, making up all that space and 3 tenths in roughly 3/4 of the track.

On runs where we react and launch similarly like the next one its lights out for me. Here’s another run right around the same time. The guys in front of us are 2 of the IS-Fs.
12.29@112.80 for mistro vs 12.57@109.97 for me. This was his first 12.2 pass, and only the 4th one run by an all motor B7 RS4. This tied Dan@JHM’s best time all motor from November 2011, run on 91.

Here’s another of me following mistro. I bounced off the rev limiter in 2nd and lost some time here. The GoPro and mic are on his car as you can see, so you can compare this to my other videos for a feel for what the JHM prototype exhausts (like mine) sound like vs. the production version (like Mistro’s). Pretty much identical.
12.67@109.25 for me, 12.39@112.98 for Mistro.

The 3 guys in the IS Fs were pretty steady all day. One guy struggled with traction a lot, another ran high 12s and the third had drag slicks and ran 12.48 @ 113.0 as his best of the day that I saw. I actually ran against him on that one. Slip is below marked appropriately. They were filming and stuff, so hopefully they’re on a forum as well and we can see some of their footage.
Here is me vs the fastest Lexus IS-F on what may have been his best pass of the day

Here is my fastest pass of the day. 12.51 @ 110.48

Here is Mistro’s 2nd fastest pass of the day (it was when I left anyway). I was coming back in the return lane and he was getting quicker and quicker so I jumped out of the car when I saw him getting staged and got this video. This would be the fastest ever NA B7 RS4 time, pipping JNAUT by 0.01 second and 2000S4 by 0.03 for fastest street trim time ever.
12.25 @ 113.4. for Mistro. Great commentary by the tower

I will let Mistro post about his experience, as well as his best of the day, along with the timeslips for that and the 12.25 @ 113.
