New Ride

No mods planned - I may look into exhausts sometime down the road, but it’s not a priority right now. There are some options for headers, and I think you’re right that a tune was recently released. I have not been following the mod scene, though, so I couldn’t tell you whether the tune actually produces acceleration gains.

I park in that same spot when I go to Jewel too. Looking good.

^^ haha I figured you’d recognize it!

I was gonna ask, is that off of Ashland just north of division? Looks really familiar. Fuck Jewel, Mariano’s ftmfw!

It’s the Jewel in the South Loop - Roosevelt and Canal. The area is has really built up in the past few years - even a brand new Portilo’s!

And I’ve heard Mariano’s is much better than Jewel. I will definitely try it out sometime.

Is the motor in the GSF (another underrated car IMO) basically a revised version of what was in the ISF?

It’s funny that Lexus was a little late to the party on GSF, but I think it was executed fairly well and a nice sleeper too. I remember when there were rumors that a detuned V10 form the LFA was going to possibly make it into the GSF obviously that never happened. I had my fingers crossed oh well.

Ah ok, that was my next guess. I’m in little Italy down the street so that makes sense. Moving to River North next weekend though. Yeah, Mariano’s is pretty much Whole Foods but with Jewel prices. They also have some cool stuff that they don’t though like any oyster bar, sushi bar, and also a grill area where they’ll grill up any of your food free of charge. So if you walk over there for lunch, you can grab a steak, have them grill it up really quick, and sit down and eat it. They do a great job too.

Yeah Mariano’s is where it’s at. Cleaner, better quality food, faster service. Only downside is they don’t seem to have as large of a selection.

Do the marianos in the city have piano players in store like in the burbs? Thought that shit was funny the first time I saw it.

I’m not the greatest tech guy, but yes the GSF and RCF have an updated version of the ISF’s 5.0 V8 engine. Lexus claims an increase of ~ 50 horsepower over the ISF, but of course that means nothing without 1/4 mile times. I do think it’s a bit odd that both new cars use the same motor without much (if any) differentiation. I will be all over an RCF if its exterior becomes more palatable in the coming years (assuming Lexus produces an updated version).

River North is great. I lived there for several years before moving to the Loop area. Greatest thing for me was the proximity to the Loop combined with a relatively quiet setting on the weekends.

Funny discussion about grocery stores in Chicago. They’re really trying to outdo one another - even the Jewel/Osco on Des Plaines (Fulton District area) has a bar with multiple TVs broadcasting a variety of sports events.

The RCF actually blows. After driving the ISF and the RCF, I would stay with the ISF.

I am having a harder time letting my dealer let me drive the GSF but from the few I have seen come in, they are bad ass cars. I just worry the weight of the GSF will hinder any type of “performance” it may have

Wish they’d go AWD

And not make the cars look so ugly. The only lexus I like the look of is the current IS. No ISF though. Even if it was it will be RWD and useless for me.

I find it very hard to look at all the new Lexus as well. They all seem to hideous.

Interesting. I figured that the RCF would be pretty cool with the updated engine. I’ll have to try and test drive one some day.

From the reviews, sounds like it’s heavy, sloppy, and rides on a very unforgiving suspension. Looks like you’re already in the right car. We will have to hit up GLD come cool weather.

Exactly this. We put the car in “developer” mode which turns off any assistance and it still wasnt fun to drive

wtf is all the mariano’s and jewel talk about? clue the rest of us in

:joy::joy::joy:

They’re grocery stores. I didn’t mean to turn it into a discussion.

Lol
