My fast intentions exhaust was the most impressive system I’ve seen. Fit, finish and quality is far above most and the sound is glorious…lol

yeah I got that video off A5OC - was reading about non res, 12" res and 18" res alternatives but so far there’s only a video of non-res
If I went resonated will I lose deepness or rumble at idle?
Any idea what diameter the piping is? I love my exhaust but the drone is annoying.

Has there been any comparisons between non-res and res in terms of flow? The main reason I choose non-res was for the potential to gain more performance or is this really simply negligible?
the resonated section is a straight through, perforated core section rather than a straight through smooth wall pipe…it’s not a crimp down or baffled or anything. Should be no measurable effect

true, but without the resonators, it’s like that with more frappy sounds on top. Raspy.
This whole drone/loudness debate always happens on AZ and I can’t really understand it. I have cat less 2.5" millteks mated to my FI resonated (14" I believe) and it is almost too quiet for me now…it kind of grows on you.
Remember, your upgrading the exhaust on a V8, it is going to have some “growl” especially if you go with a full cat less setup. If your the type of person who doesn’t want that then I suggest not upgrading at all, but if your truly an enthusiast you’ll probably find yourself rarely using the radio anymore because you just like listening to the car.
Drone is truthfully in the “ear of the beholder” some people don’t even notice it and some people just like to complain. My exhaust is barely noticeable cruising at highway speeds IMO, hell my wife was the one DDing the car for a while and she never complained…she actually liked it.
The only true way to see if you like it is to hear a setup in person because everyone’s taste is different.
Drone is a significant buzzy sound in the cabin and on our V8 cars it is present from around 1200-2000 RPMs, dependant on the exhaust.
Magnaflow seems to eliminate most of it.
Fast Intentions seems to really accentuate it.
The beta JHM RS4 exhaust was pretty much drone free, but the production exhaust seems to have a little drone to it around 1200-1500. Very small range. My Fast Intentions with piggies on my B7 S4 was VERY droney from 1200-1900. When I went catless, it became a bit less droney.
If you are on the throttle, in the drone zone, in a gear that is big (thus takes longer to get OUT of the drone zone), it can be a bit overwhelming/annoying. I hate drone. After a month though you learn to avoid it with your driving technique.
Something else to know is that drone is only IN THE CABIN. People outside the car don’t hear a massive increase in sound the way people in the car do. So that’s good for people to know. Your car doesn’t go from being dickhead loud…then to asshole loud in those drone RPMs…it just stays at dickhead loud.
Hahahaa, awesome…I love dickhead loud, but if I go headers will that bump me up to asshole loud? or in your opinion is it just a more refined dickhead loud?
Headers with mufflers are just a really nice sounding dickhead loud, and according to an old informal survey I did, your fuel efficiency will improve a little which is funny.
Headers with no mufflers is end of the world loud.
