It is and I do read it and participate once in a while. It entertains me during the day while I’m at my boring menial job.
You’re an educated guy…never went out to root for your team? That’s really where the support comes from. It stays on after school where people follow it.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
We’re like imprinted ducklings.

shouldn’t be a surprise…someone said this would happen a year ago, right in this thread. The majority of the people who said ‘we like little 3" screens, and big screens are bad’ are now buying big screen phones in monster numbers.
Note the dates…
I have one device that does both. Trust me, all of you Apple devotees who cling to the iPhone and slam the Samsung larger form factor which is obviously insecurity about the iPhone’s major weakness, will all change over when the new bigger iPhones when they are Samsung sized. Nobody is saying ‘I wish my screen was smaller’. You will switch to the larger screens, just as Android users did.
Samsung sells small, medium and large devices. The medium and large devices destroy the small devices sales numbers. The market has spoken - it wants a bigger phone now that these are basically portable computers. So yes, you will soon see why your brother in law switched, and you will do the same. You’ll just do so 3 years too late and then wonder why you were so against a better design.
p.s. you bought a little phone, and since you needed a screen you can actually use on the go without going blind, you also bought a $400 iPad mini? Who da fool now?
Here’s how you can answer for yourself whether or not it matters:
When Apple introduces a 5" (or 5"+) screen iPhone next fall, are you going to say “I would rather stick with my small phone so I can wear it on my arm at the gym” or are you going to upgrade for the 90 other things that a bigger screen is better for?
Don’t forget, the biggest reason people switched to iPhone was for a nice big screen way back when it’s competitor, blackberry, was using a 2.5" diagonal screen with keyboard below it. The Apple iPhone was revolutionary and Apple fanboys and girls all touted having a big beautiful screen as a MAJOR advantage over the BB.
Ironic that now the Apple folks tout having a small screen as an ‘advantage’. I think we all know that if Apple had 5" screens for the past 2 years like Samsung did, Apple folks would be all about big screens. It’s just that Apple’s crazy slow technology upgrade pattern of introducing a new model every 2 years got run over by the equally crazy fast Samsung 6 month cycle (which I think is too much personally and leads to cannibalization of your own market). As a result Apple people (including Apple themselves) were forced to cling to the ‘I want a phone that is small’ thing. Apple ran a commercial, an attack ad against Samsung, where they touted small phones etc. That was 10 months ago. Now that the overwhelming majority of the marketplace is demanding larger format phones, Apple will be forced to eat shit, and copy Samsung…and to slap themselves and their own marketing in the face.
Yes - you called it. Big iPhone = big profit. I bought in almost exactly a year ago in anticipation of the big iPhone and the split. 60% gain crushes everything else in my portfolio.
So what’s the next big stock? I’m in!
Haha I think that second quote is a response to my post that I was able to use my 4S at the gym. Really funny looking back on that. You definitely called it before us Apple guys saw where the market was going.
Other than the relatively weak battery performance, I’m thrilled with the 6 Plus. I use it a ton and just love the large screen. It has displaced my iPad on several fronts. What’s really crazy is every time I use my 4S at the gym - the screen is so fucking small, I’m not sure how I ever was able tolerate it for so long.
I want an Apple Watch. Let the flaming begin . . .
^ I’m not sold on it. Seems gimmicky.
I suppose for ~3-400, it will make for a very cool toy.
Can you imagine spending 10K on a gold glorified calculator watch that will be outdated in 10months and doesn’t last a day without a recharge? Something computer based can’t be sold like fine jewelry unless they commit to much longer life-cycles…which they won’t. The sad thing is they will likely sell every one of those 10K+ “limited” editions…all the Kardashian’s will have one for each day of the week.
I have a Microsoft Band. I think it’s awesome. Works really well with the fruit phone 6 too (surprising for MSFT).

Is that a smart watch? I’m seriously considering going with the Apple one - probably $349 version.

It’s a fitness/activity tracker (GPS/heart rate/pedometer/sleep).
There’s app integration as well but I use it more for its activity tracking.
And it shows time and date. Haha!

I feel the same. The only real advantage I see to it would be if you’re in meetings all day and don’t want to be rude and pull your phone out to see who is calling/texting. Other than that, I would never use any of the features like fitness tracking. (I don’t need a watch to tell me I’m slow and overweight lol.) It takes 2 seconds to take your phone out of your pocket. Not to mention I hate wearing watches, so I might be a bit biased.
In other news, I made the switch to an Iphone 6+. My droid was a little laggy after 2 years and my contract was up. After much debate, contemplation, and an hour in the Verizon store that’s what I walked out with. It was between the Nexus 6, Note 4 and the 6+. I have a friend who got the Nexus 6 and he didn’t think it lived up to the hype and with a $650 price tag it was a little more than I wanted to spend. The Note 4 had a few more features, but nothing I felt like I would really use (Stylus, 2 windows open at once, some photo editing stuff) and the build quality and screen were better on the 6+, IMO. So far so good, it’s really not that much different for what I use my phone for (texting/socialmedia/quick web searches). It sucked having to re-download all of my apps though. Also, I don’t really notice the size until I put it in my pocket, then it feels massive.
^^ Alright another 6 Plus guy on board. You’ll love it. Only downside I’ve had is the questionable battery life. Otherwise, it’s been fantastic. And FAST! Mind you, I migrated from a 4S, so quite a bit of difference.
With respect to the Watch, I’m sold. I want one. After reviewing the plethora of options, I’m thinking the 42mm stainless steel offering. $699 is mighty high, but I can stomach it. It may very well be gimmicky, but I’m a sucker for Apple’s marketing prowess.
For the record, I bought the original iPhone on basically the day it was released - still have it in fact. Perhaps this will be just another repeat of early adopter irrationalness. I’m will to accept that flogging. But damn that watch seems fucking awesome. I want.
I mean, come on, they look great:

My battery life has been great so far! Granted I’ve only had it about 3 weeks…so that could change by the time I hit 6 months or a year. I can go 2 days easily with lite usage, even with heavy usage I rarely get below 50% in a 24hr period.

- needs apple phone (so I’m out)
- needs charging every day or so
- what’s the benefit?
I don’t get it. Some people who work in environments where they can’t bust out their phone will like being able to use it to see what number is calling them or who is sending them a text or whatsapp…but otherwise, I can’t see it helping my life.
I think I only know 1 person with Samsung watches after a year on market, and Samsung sells a fuckton of phones. That tells you about the functionality and usefulness of it for the mass market.
Now the other thing is, Apple people like to spend more than normal money on Apple stuff so they can have APple stuff, so it might do well. I really have no idea. I just know I can’t be arsed to have any smartwatch.
I meant to post this for clochner:

I’m typically not a fan of devices that are limited to just their own brand (like the Samsung smart watches - still undecided on the Apple Watch). I prefer that they be brand/platform agnostic.
I’m quite pleased with the MSFT Band. It’s holding up the abuse so far lol.
Non-iPhone owners: how long does it take to charge your phone from 0 to 100? I had 0 this morning, and after about 2.25 hours, I’m at 75.
6+ here btw.

How much amps does the stock charger put out? Mine is just 1amp.
It charges my iPhone 6 in about an hour. My older Google Nexus 5 would charge from 0 to 100 in less than an hour. It outputs 2.4amps.
Not to mention it’s great for traveling. I have one in my backpack and I have another one by my nightstand.
Cool - I’ll look into that.
