I’m really looking forward to the bump in battery life. I’m lucky to get through the day right now without having to charge my 4S. Too bad I still have to wait a month or so until I get the new one.
Yeah I’m quite familiar with double tapping the home button and actually shutting down apps. I never leaves apps running unless I’m planning on coming back to it in a little while. I think I may have gotten a shut battery or it was just the fact that it was 2.5 years old and wasn’t doing so hot anymore. Plus I would rock the screen brightness on 100% but even considering all if this it was still terrible. The 5s will get me through a day and a half without charging so the 6+ will be fine for me even if it’s only as good as the 5s.
then, this weekend, they launched this map to show where they can deliver in Canada…and fucked up the location of the 4th largest city in North America (Mexico City is 1st and Chicago is 5th!), fucked up the capital of Canada, fucked up the location of the capital of Alberta, and fucked up the name of Quebec City, naming it Quebec (this would be like saying you’re going to Kansas instead of Kansas City…or Mexico instead of Mexico City)
while Apple used a mercator projection, and the other map shown for example is a globe crop (so you might say ‘it’s because of the curve’) it’s still not supposed to be west of Calgary (it’s east)…let alone signficantly west of calgary.
Received my 6 plus today and I’m pretty happy with it. It fits my hand perfectly and now that it’s bigger, the typing is way easier. Obviously I can’t tell you shit about the battery yet since I’ve had it for an hour. The screen looks amazing. And as you can see from the picture, it’s nowhere like putting an iPad Mini in your pocket. From left to right pictured is a 5s, 6, 6 plus, and iPad Mini.
(Sorry about the crap photo, it was from an iPad 1.
They added a bunch of features that I like including the typing suggestions, recent contacts in the home button double tap, and now you can go landscape on the home page.
I thought it would have been closer to the size of the iPad mini until I saw a picture similar to yours that compared them…and it’s actually significantly different. I’m not planning on changing from my 5S this generation but I would be curious to hold the 6 and 6plus in my hand to compare for a future upgrade. I’m happy with my 5S but I can see the advantages and disadvantages for something bigger. For one, the wind resistance alone when strapped to a handle bar would be significant :). On the other hand, with a Lifeproof life jacket on a 6plus you could easily float a drink over to a friend in another kayak
it’s funny the misinformation out there about the ‘giant’ phones being too unwieldy and ‘not usable’. Mostly from Apple users when they were justifying their 2" wide screen phones.
Good to see you like it mdubz. Big phones make everything better, as you’re slowly finding out.
p.s. you guys with iphones should seriously consider SwiftKey, since it’s now available. Much better keyboard application.
Yeah I mean it really depends on who you ask. The guy that had that 6 in the picture said how my phone is way too big for him and he wouldn’t like carrying it around. He was also wearing skinny jeans and is 5’5" maybe. We showed both of our phones to the owner of our company and he said exactly what I said, the 6 plus is perfect for him. Between the 6 and 6 plus, the weight difference is basically unnoticeable. The keyboard is huge. I can type twice as fast now, not literally ok, but it’s noticeably faster.
The battery seems to be holding up pretty well too. Another thing they added was texting while in another app. So if you’re in an app and receive a text message it gives you the option of opening it over the current app to respond without closing it out. It’s actually an iOS 8 feature though since I had that on my 5s, but still nice they are finally giving us the cool features the android phones have.
Slow motion recording at 240fps seems legit, although the quality falls off a bit.
I don’t think I’ve ever ordered something from the Apple Store that didn’t say 3-4 weeks and that timeline never changes or updates. It said that for me until the day it shipped. I ordered on the 12th and it shipped 2 weeks later. When I ordered my 4S 3 years ago same thing. My buddy had a phone 2 days later when it said that once. So it’s probably just the standard timeline they give you so you’re happy when you get it before the estimated time.
I must be the only person who uses a HTC one m8.
Going from droid to Apple and now back to droid, I sure do miss some quality’s that both system had.
I throughly enjoy my HTC. Phone has been tough, takes good camera shots, better reception, and now 4g. Of course I like lot having to jailbreak in order to customize(I know you load customs roms).
